Ive had a s/s x-force 3 into 3.5" turbo back exhaust on my 33 for almost 3 yrs now and have had no problems, no discoloration at all, sounds good, no drone and managed to get it for $900 back then new, good value for money

they are built and sold to a price. I would say you would have no problems with it lasting but is it as good as the japanese made exhausts? not in my eyes. another factor often overlooked is sound. most of the exhausts made in china are built to fit a certain model car with a certain pipe diameter and that's it. they most likely have never even laid eyes on the model of car it's going to be fitted too so how it sounds is a lucky dip. the wall thickness, the position of bends, the radius and angle of bends, the number and type and position of mufflers all have an impact on how the exhaust sounds. to my ear the xforce and similar exhausts are easy to pick. and do not make a sound I'm all that keen on.

try something like a nice japanese made stainless or even titanium exhaust and they fit beautifully and sound amazing. but you need to be prepared to pay for it. if quality is your ultimate aim then you'll need to pony up and pay for a nice japanese or custom made system. if you just want a basic exhaust that will flow well and not cost a lot then xforce is for you.

At the time I had my 3and 1/2 custom exhaust made the only 3 and 1/2 cannon I could find was an xforce. Its been on the car for over 3 years now, Yes its loud but i dont give a tinkers toss. Its still there, does not restrict and is as good as the day I bought it.

i had a 3.5" xforce cat back and 3" xforce cat on my 33 and never had any issues. it only had the 3" cannon but it wasn't loud at all. sound just like any other 33 i'd heard, except for my mates with a 3" jasma exhaust on it, which was quieter

Oh but come on Noel... It's chinese! It won't be able to take the temps, longevity or anything like that!

All my experience says it will fall off your car tomorrow in a rusting heap.

Bumping the thread.

I currently have a RS*R exmagt2 full exhaust. I like/love the sound of it but having the option to quiet it in 2 seconds while a cops pass by is a wonderful idea.

Considering I keep my whole line andweld the new varex elec. valve, can I expect my BNR32 to sound the same when the vavle is fully open ?

Ive heard the Varex cannon on a friends car and its near stock sound when in silent and when open sounded the same as far as i could tell as when it was just a straight cannon.

There a pretty cool unit, supposed to flow good but I dont know that much about them

For anyone interested in original subject

Ive had my X-force 3" turbo back mild steel system on my car for probably 2 years now. Installed it myself.

I personally love the way it sounds, Its not stupidly loud while still giving a nice tone, quieter then alot of mates skylines.

If I had to complain about anything it would be that one of the bolts/nuts that holds the dump to the turbo is a bit of a pain to tighten/loosen (hard to get a spanner on) and the exhaust sits a little low around the diff

But there minor minor things that dont really worry me, That was just if I HAD to complain  haha

Had an xforce hi flow cat on my GTR and after 2 years the insides stareted to rattle so had to bin it. And my new high flow cat feels much better ie the Xforce cat must have been quite restrictive.

In terms of catback systems, ran a Monsta (china) stainless system in my last car and was happy with the quality ie finish/welds and exhaust note.

Needless to say you have a Nur spec GTR ,so dunno why you would be wanting to save ~$600 on an Xforce instead of a JDM one. I run Jap brand catback in my GTR the exhaust note sounds awesome and no drone. As BB said the JDM brand systems would involve R&D in gettin the systems to sound and flow.

My local tuner just did a stock BNR32 ( well couples bolt-on) with this exhaust. 298 whp closed. 360whp open, on a dynopack.

With my GTSS on my rb26, I just did 425whp with my RSR but when I put my silencer in my RSR I drop to 353whp !!! This a 75 whp drop haha. That why I would love to have a varex exhaust that I could close when driving in the city and open, without going outside the car, on the highway or any high speed road.

What I'm wondering is if it's gonna sound *close* or as good as my JDM branded RS*R.. I hard a couple of sound clip from RB20 and RB25 but none on the RB26. I don't want it to sound like a cheap civic fart-can, you know, that raspy rattle sound lol

Varex sounds pretty nice when open - but I can only speak from the twin tip perspective, the setup of which looks and operates better than the cannon one in my opinion. It's a deep note with no Honda Civic sounding garbage to it. Screams well in the top end too. But you don't really buy this exhaust for the type of note, you buy it so you can have a loud and quiet exhaust at the same time. And so far it's the only one out there with a worthwhile valve system so that leaves you little choice.

I went the twin tip because when open it's the closest thing to straight pipe. Right hand pipe is straight through and the left pipe is the one that re-routed exhaust comes out of when the right hand pipe valve is closed. You will want a resonator in the middle of your plumbing or it will be way too loud. I ran 3" turbo back with a high flow cat, resonator, and the Varex at the end...with the valve open she tested 100db.

Just a warning though, you are not supposed to boost the vehicle much at all with the Varex valve closed as they are very restrictive. Strictly cruising around stuff. This is an exhaust that can go from 100db to quieter than stock with the flick of a switch...

The X-Force dumps I got were crap. The flanges weren't perfectly aligned, they aren't straight (flat edge) either. There was porosity in the welds, and had weld dags still in them. The flange IDs didn't match the pipe ID's. I replaced with a set of HPI's and without a doubt that are immensely better. They also have extended bungs, one was relocated slightly to stop the rear of the O2 sensor fouling on the firewall. They were very well thought out.

Others have mentioned their experiences with the cats too. Unless you have the money to change them later, choose the right stuff the first time. If you are choosing dumps, they are timely (or expensive in labour) to replace, so choose wisely.

This was all a few weeks ago, so I'm speaking from a matter of recent experience. Yes sure SOME might be fine, but from what I saw, I'd rather not take the gamble. There is still a big difference between Chinese and Japanese merchandise.

Its a no brainer when you can choose from a US made Catco High Flow or a Chinese made X-Force at the same price.

I agree, but sit's still a source of confusion, hence I ended up with X-Force dumps, which I sent back.

I always assumed Catco was another Chinese brand when I first saw them, until I actually spent 5 mins digging around. Excellent value cats for the price.

A bit trivial I know, but aren't they Australian made?

---

Cheapest alternatives to stock parts I've seen for value for money is:

The HPI dumps, or Tomei. Bellmouth dumps, not splits, unless you get them big arse Tomei dump and front pipe combos. (saving the argument about stock dumps)

Catco cats, same price, far superior quality

Front pipe, whatever you want, it's a piece of pipe that's easy to replace and 'hardly' affects the sound level, never heard anything bad about cheap front pipes.

Cat back, whatever you feel is necessary to keep the noise down, rule of thumb here was the Jap stuff had the best flow versus sound level, unless you go custom.

My 2 cents

I believe they are American made.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
