Hi Fellas,

Been a while since I posted on here.

Short story is, I have a R33 GTS-T with an Rb25/30 and a GT35r turbo pushing out 370 rwkw (and other supporting mods of course).

My girlfriend recently purchased a newish car (2006 Suzuki Swift) and when I got in it, I fell in love with it's quietness, non bouncyness and newness.

I was thinking of selling my car and buying a 2004 WRX STi (something newer and quieter)

I am aware it will be MUCH slower than the car I have now, so I just wanted to get some expert opinions,

do you guys think I will regret selling my car after throwing $40,000 into it, or is it time to move on?

I am going to take a WRX for a test drive tomorrow (Not STIs selling in ACT) to see if I like the feel of the WRX in general to assist me in my decision.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Yeah I feel the same when driving the girlfriends Mazda 3, however the girlfriends car never gets adrenalin running and makes you feel close to death when driving it hard through some twisties and that is why I love the Skyline :)

thats a hard one. everytime ive been away for a week or two, usually driving a new rental, i come back and drive the aging skyline and think 'man i love driving this car'

but i guess if you really liked the car you're replacing it with, ie wrx in your case, it might be a different story.

i guess you'll only know for sure if you regret it, when it's too late.

It's nice to have the best of both worlds imho

'Contrasts' if you know what I mean.

My wife has her Beemer (as quiet as a mouse, but well behaved up Mac Pass) + We have our Forester + My 'Line.

A 'Combo' of 'Contrasts' is a desirable mix.

Maybe, just sit with what you have now and re-appraise it all in 3 months?

a harem like that is gonna be pretty expensive =D

I'd say, not to sell the car.

Well any single car now has gone up in this damn state.

Her car is due for rego next month, and it's costing $800 for CTP/Rego.

It's up quite a bit from '09 - so you're not wrong Alvin.

yes you will regret it but you wont regret being in a quiet car that you dont get hassled in

sold my gtr (miss it everyday) and bought a beemer..

slow as a snail but very comfortable

what you lose in power you will definitely gain in handling with the 4wd turbo. STi's are no slouches

I enjoy most cars for their own merits but an average car will never be as satisfying for me as the skyline or another sports car. That said, I agree with Terry - the answer is to have a normal car and your skyline so you can enjoy either depending on your mood.

hhahahhahahahahhahaha omgomgomgomgomgomg

i was reading this thread thinking to myself

oh man i'm gonna make a boss post n give this dude HEAPS of insight and first hand knowledge of my own experiences...

my own experiences being that i am breaking up with my cefiro after 5.5 years... after all the thumbs up... after all the stares glares n smiles and kudos's's's... i'm breaking up with the cefiro and i was going to explain my thought processes and why etc

and i was going to explain the things you have to consider

but now i realise that OP could well be a troll

and i don't feed trolls!

so if OP is serious about his thoughts... i'll wait with baited breath and happilly discuss, but i'm not wasting 5 minutes discussing garbage when it probably won't even sink in or be read

I have/had a weird combination of cars

- Suzuki Cappuccino

- Honda CRX

- Nissan R32 GTR

The only thing they all have in common is that they all have 2 doors.

I loved driving each one on different days, the cap was just a small bundle of fun that's really cheap to run, the Honda was a revvy 2 seater that's a lot of fun around the city but it had always been the R32 that commands respect from me and anyone that goes near it lol

    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
