Don't know how many of you guys knew, that that was my first ever drive of the DR30 on the weekend, so I was left pretty much speechless after my drive. The car blew a gearbox at Lakeide a few weeks ago, so she was running with a standard DR30 Gearbox at Eastern Creek weekend before last, and at Eastern Creek we discovered a catch can full of oil, so the engine is very tired. I had to be kind to her, not just because of this, but because of the gearbox being a standard one as well. This all sounds very dramatic, but the gearbox and the engine have not been looked at since she ran Bathurst in 1987, so that is a sterling effort, as this was her third outing under my ownership.

I had a ball for the whole weekend, wish I had of had more time to soicalise. Bring on Goulburn 2012.

Hey Cazz do you know if its hurt or just tired? might be worth investigating via your mech or workshop if your thinking of tracking it again. A preventative repair is usually cheaper than a repair after a failure.... especially if it eats a ring land or piece of ring.... down an engine and a turbo. Would hate for it to cost a small fortune to fix for the sake a track day.

sorry if i am out of place with the above statement i dont mean it to be preaching or whatever... food for thought.

Anyway nugz, small piece of advice. Next time you've got some quicker cars behind ya bud just shuffle over. It makes life alot easier for everyone. Several times I tried to pass you and you were skidding around, a bit too dangerous to be doing on grip days with cars so close together

Other than that see you all oct 7th

anyway... what with the "u serious?" comment ?? it was a skyline at the skyline nationals.... not some bloody toyota.... its been built by me.... on a tighter than shoestring budget... plus its my daily...not everyone can have sweet arsed brand new friggin cars mate

We stopped racing at Eastern Creek when we found the oil in the catch can. So got the mechanics to check it straight away. I was hardly racing at full tilt, as it was my first time, it was pretty slow :P. I was not going to risk doing any real damage to the engine. The compression test showed even 100's on all four. A pretty good indication it's just tired. My Race mechanic is Jose Fernandez, and he said the car would be fine for some demo laps this weekend, and both my team mechanics agreed. I wouldn't like to lunch a 25 grand GMS engine in a hurry. I also have a spare GMS engine, that is brand new and never been run, so we are going to crack both of them at the same time, and get them both race ready.

This car is pretty simple, nothing exotic like the HR31's and the GTR's. It's all pretty basic, and the old FJ20 is pretty much bullet proof, but I still wouldn't have taken it out on the track unless the mechanics said yep. With even, low compressions, it's 99 percent just tired.

She won't be going out again until Phillip Island Historics next year, so we got plenty of time to get it right.

nothing exotic?? Cazz... it sounded absolutely fantastic.... almost stumped my mate who was thinking it had an SR20 under the bonnet..an he worked in a nissan wrecking yard...lol....but yes... looked and sounded great

Results will be up in the next few days.

Starlet was Cool, always see atleast one at the track here in Melb, as for that Mx5,

I wish the 74db limit was enforced, and that thing could have been taken off the track till it was quieter.

my honest feelings about that car was that i didnt like it. Driver was good. shame about the car only because it was so loud it was offensive.

S.a Boys make sure you see your El President to get your trophies as i would hate for him to have to keep them. :P

I have never attended an event were everyone was so welcoming and friendly you southaussies sure now how to make a Mexican feel welcome. even if you dont know what a Milk bar is for.

The event for me goes something like this:

Have as much farmers union strong as possible.

Eat Villies pies in the middle of the night

Cruse Rundal(spelling) in Passage

Stress about trying to keep everyone happy

Run around doing the meet and greet for hours

low sleep from doing official stuff

Function on one meal a day

Have some more Famers Union

Hang out with Matty T

Hang out with as many people as possible

sell some raffle tickets.

This is my 3rd nats on the Committee 2 with CSA and one with NDSOC and this has been by far the Hardest, second most stressful, *none can be as bad as the first time* event

but its all worth it when you meet so many GREAT (GROUSE) people who understand what its all about, and we have such a High Caliber of Car on Display for the General Public with 99% of attendance behaving them selves at the show and shine,

one or 2 i would like to have a few words with, like the white 33 with the plates "thehack" but thats just me being not wanting the event to look bad,

what am i saying?

SAUSA, i am now reping one of your stickers on My GTS here in Melbourne, along with My Classic Skylines Australia sticker and My R31skyline sticker,

3 clubs i am proud to have worked on this event with.

Hands down the Best Nats Ever, and its all thanks to you.

lol so that was the other street, we did actually do both..... a few times

its funny i would never go and just cruise our "cruse" spots in Melbourne but Adelaide the night scene Felt alot less violent.

this is a skylines website. an r31 is a skyline. I like r31s. esp black ones that look dope.

I was one of the scrutineers and from my part, the majority of the cars presented was of a "very high quality" (quote from the chief scrutineer). "Any issues that were encountered were fixed with no fuss and no problems".

Especially considering that a large number of them were first timers on the track and had little or no knowledge of the requirements.

Assuming I am thinking of the right car it was the pullthrough in the R33 (Not an entrant as far as I am aware) who smoked them up outside the show and shine, followed by blasting off along the Anzac Highway, nearly losing the car sideways going through a turning lane surrounded by pedestrians and then blaring off down the street wheelspinning, passing cars on a suburban street into oncoming traffic, all the while on his bloody stinking mobile phone. And when he lost it the nurk nearly took out my Pathfinder which was parked by the side of the road and next to which I had had my two year old kid a few minutes before when getting something out of it.

I generally keep my language polite on forums so I will not say what I really think, but the colour would be a very deep shade of blue, calling on all the reserves of my RAAF days (Heard the expression "Swears like a trooper?")

Needless to say I am glad that overall we had a great display of what responsible enthusiasts are like over the weekend. I just wish the R33 driver drove a WRX or something instead, anything but tarnishing the image of our chosen wheels.

Based on all the DA, G1 rounds (not this nationals event) we have competed in over the past 5 odd years. It is made in comparison to all the other scrutineering we see at tracks we frequent australia wide.

Mine is my daily too bud. Does 600 odd k's a week as it was on track day. Built from a beater and on a pretty tight budget. I came to skynats as I'm a sau member and it was open to everyone.

And status I've owned enough imports. Starlet is just a fun car to beat nissans in

I've noticed that all the negative comments weren't by anyone else stuck behind him. I think every session I saw a train of 4 or 5 cars being held up. It's just etiquitte

Anyway nugz you did well for the lack of traction. Hope your out there oct 7th or the cars and karts or scc day later in october

      What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.

      Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.

      looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
