The little quips are already classic- Like when he said "The only way that radio message could've been any scarier is if it was delivered in the dark"

That was pure gold!

DC is great and they should have used him like this last year.

Any news on the magic Ferrari DRS?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1k-nCXW87g

"Alonso was the subject of an odd situation in China when his rear wing opened outside of the designated DRS zone. Following Michael Schumacher, Alonso's wing activated between turns 14 and 16, despite the zone being marked out as a section of the straight before turn 14. The reason was an error that caused the system to offset by 450 metres, costing Alonso time. He will not be punished, but the FIA are looking in to the cause of the incident."

Mark has written an article confirming my feelings after China.

"But we're still learning and we saw in China that qualifying position might now be less important than in the past.

We only have six sets of dry tyres for qualifying and the race (three sets of prime, three sets of option) and while you don't want to be qualifying 18th every weekend, you're better off saving a fresh set of tyres for the race rather than doing another run in Q3 to gain one grid position.

My fastest lap in the race was 1.4sec faster than anyone else's. That was due to my having more new sets of option tyres in the race. It's given us plenty to think about."

So I can see Q3 will now be a 1 lap wonder only and EVERYONE will have the 1 virgin set of tyres for the race. So that will pretty much cancel everyones performance out - although there might still be some who run with the faster tyre at the start, some in the middle and some at the end.

Especially seeing as Vettel doesn't know how to pass a car without running in to it

I was praying so hard that they'd collide I was almost ready to resort to voodoo sacrifice. Vettel and Hamilton DNF = Webber win. How awesome would that have been!

They don't need it to happen/fail again and open in say, Eo'Rouge (sp?)..... could lead to a monumental accident.

Eau Rouge FYI.

That was always my first concern when I heard about the moveable rear wing. We've had FIXED rear wings fail before (remember Raikkonen?), and adding moveable parts into the equation can't help the chances of a wing failure.

Mind you, IMO if you're going to have it at all, it should be at the driver's discretion. I hate this idea that it can only be used in a certain section of the track.

as much as I don't like him, Hamilton worked that out before China. And he won because of it.

^^ fkn This!! ^^

only because of the massive advantage of green softs. not because he got an injection of awesome in the first pit stop. Before that he couldn't even pass the back markers... I think he made 2 positions in 17 laps or something before pitting??

As a McLaren fanboy, I'll have to go for the 'Not very' option thanks Eddie.

On hard tyres & no KERS vs all cars around him on the grid with soft tyres & KERS.

is anyone else wishing they didnt have to wait so long between races lol. i need more f1.... what other series is as interesting?

Yes!

I watched the first race of the btcc online today. Love the brands hatch circuit, I don't think I knew enough about the series, teams and drivers to really get into it...

    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
