But Boullier is speaking with Cosworth as he has to pay for his engines now and that means loads of dollars he doesnt have. From what I understand Lotus (Proton owned and managed by some Danny Bahar fella didnt pay any money to the F1 team for some reason...yet they kept the car painted in their colours as they didnt want to publicly pull the colours and be without a naming sponsor. Seems the cheque is in the post which is always the case with dodgy Malaysian businesses :(

do you think it has somethink to do with the trouble Renault is having with drivers?

i mean they had to pay of Nick Heidfeld + pay burno senna to take his place.

so i just went on the pf1 forum, it was interesting....

they did have one good thread and that was 'the rookie of the year' thread.

nominees are.

Perez

Maldanaldo

Di Resta

D'Ambrosio

Ricciardo

so my vote goes to, (drum roll)....... lewis hamilton.

who gets your vote?

Not sure who's leading the points out of the above, but Di Resta always seems to be in the mix, he'd get my vote

lol. webber is hardcore. no one should ever question if the bloke wants to be in F1.

'umm got food poisoning, feeling sick think I should retire... *blurrrg* sorry just vomited down my helmet'

"ok mark, in this lap, box box box"

'nah, think I'll stay out, most of the spew is out of me now and in my helemet and all down my race suit. getting a second wind up.'

no wonder he was fking ropeable when vettel took him out under safety car. that is why I've never forgiven vettel. yes he carries on like a tool but fact is the kid is a great driver but I just can't help but think that race with webber in P2 behind hamilton and massively faster than hamilton in those conditions that that was supposed to be webbers first win and would have done it in pretty amazing circumstances... I will never forgive you for robbing webber of that win in japan vettel. NEVER!

Funny isnt it. BIG hypothetical, if Webber had of gotten up and he was looking pretty solid. it woudl have been Red Bulls first win, 12 months before Vettel in Monza, Webber would have had the confidence of being a GP winner in a reasonably comepetitive RBR, much like Vettel 12 months later in the STR. You wonder what would have happened with confidence if Vettel came into RBR with Webber being a GP winner.

They say confidence is a huge thing, Vettel and Button all speak of the confidence and release of pressure having won the GDP....Webber looked great mid season then fell away. Mika being handed his first wins did wonders for him...but isntead, Webber got take out by the hatchet man :)

Motorsport is the best sport in the world for "what-if"-ing. You could equally argue that a disappointment like that could have stirred up Webber - he's that sort of bloke.

yeah but webbers had plenty of experience with disappointment already! lol. if disappointment stirs the boy up he'd be just about bursting by now. :)

for sure. it's a big hypothetical and we'll never know the answer but there's no doubt that things would have been different with seb walking into a team where webber was their golden boy and first ever race winner. not sure in what way it would be different but certainly something would have shifted.

and again it's why i'll never forgive the little prick. i bet deep down webber still holds a grudge too. webber had been in with some half chances before but that day he fought like a motherfker, though the spew in the helmet, though the nausea so bad he could barely see, through the rain, through the field, was closing in on hamilton at pace and then got handed a safety car. it really looked like him getting a struggling hamilton was only going to be a matter of time and then fking vettel came along. vettels been screwing him ever since! lol. if he's still had a team mate anything like his previous ones he would have probably won the 2010 WDC too. without a teammate to crash into him now and then and rob points off him now and then it quite possibly wouldn't have even gone down to the last race.

they are all 'what-ifs' and possibly wishful thinking on my part but there's no doubt at the time when webber finally got the car he deserves he also got the team mate to go with it. for a guy who has clearly beaten all the team mates he's raced with it must be a bitter pill to swallow.

First, let me say I'm no Vettel fan, arrogant little prick. But I'm even less of a fan of Lewis, the boy with the silver spoon shoved up his arse. If I remember correctly the safety car was miles ahead, Lewis then accelerated towards the last corner and then decided he wanted to back the pack up (or play dirty tricks and try and give others penalties for overtaking), he pulled over to the right side of the track which forced Mark to almost stop on the left to avoid overtaking him. Vettel came to the scene with speed, I guess assuming they were accelerating for the restart and found an almost stationary Webber with no where to go (Lewis on the right).

He may have been the one that made contact but the person responsible for the whole sequence of events is one L.Hamilton. IIRC Vettel was balling his eyes out in the pit lane afterwards, I'm not sure if its because he blew his chances at his first podium (probably more likely) or that he took out the senior driver at the senior team who was on for the teams first win. I'm not sure who Webber blames, I seem to remember his relationship with Hamilton is less that friendly though?

Looks like Webber and DC had a blast at Redbull together. I'd love to see Button and Webber in the same team, looks like it was supposed to happen in 05/06 at Williams if it wasn't for the meddling FIA.

that guy that won a WDC in his second season, and already has more race wins and podium finishes than most drivers achieve in a whole career?

yeah, I've heard of him

he may be a wdc winner, but you cant deny the fact that he doesn't act like one.

WDC in his second year? Talented driver no doubt. But he is a pretty lucky mug. He won the WDC by a corner and a point. Wont go into the bad luck that Massa hit through the season including engine failures with 1-3laps to go in Spain.

I go into race weekends thinking Hamo is a real threat this weekend, but never think of him as a threat for a WDC. The guy is an egotistical retard who cant mount a WDC campaign to save his life.

You only have to look at his best string of race results! His first 9 GPs were his most consistant. Once he took the pressure of himself to be disciplined because he thought he had proven a point, :he had arrived"...the real Lewis started stepping into a race car and he started punting people, binning it and being shit by trying moves that would get him on the highlight reels.

And dont mistaken the above as a complaint. God bless him for being so stupid, makes entertaining viewing

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
