when they cut to the shot of him talking to Horner on the pitwall straight after, I was sure he was about to start bawling.

cheer up emo kid, it's not like a DNF makes a difference to the championship for anyone

RBR making Webber look woeful. He had 3rd and a good chance at 2nd had they not stuffed his pitstop. After the delay in the stop he was quicker in the second stint. Button had a problem with KERS but Webber was quicker then everyone inc Hamo. If he didnt get dicked with track position he may have been able to use that pace, would have been a shoe in for 3rd and a possible second.

Admit that he was never going to win after the first two laps though, he needs to defend more like the Webber of old, rather than the 2011 Webebr where he things he will be patient and use car speed to get them back in a later phase

I disagree...Considering he was on the option while the rest of the front runners were on the prime, it made him look better...When they were all on the same tire, Massa had him covered....

Don't forget he's in the undisputed best car on the grid, and is regularly finishing behind Hamilton/Button/Alonso

Don't agree. Webber had a stop that cost him about 9 seconds, he came out about 8 seconds behind Massa and in 5-6 laps was on his and Buttons bum. In that period he was the quickest guy on the track. Webber was all over the backs of Massa and Button, just didnt have the straight line to get it done without being waaay aggressive.

Last stint, yes he was on the quicker tyre, but all mid stint he was on the same tyre and was quicker...just couldnt cleanly get by Massa and Button. Even in the first stint he seemed to be quicker but had to just sit back and preserve the tyre and fuel because Button had him covered as Webebr could only do the job in the first DRS zone and the McLaren had such a straight line advantage that he could sail by in the second, shorter DRS zone

Stop cost him 6 seconds really (9ish second stop from memory, good pitstop is about 3.4s)

I'm a fan of Webber, I really want him to win. But I'm afriad he's just not doing the job at the moment. Wether that is 100% his fault or not, I cant say (maybe the car is designed more for Vettel's style, these are the things we will never know)

Not really sure why He wasn't trying to outbrake Button at the end of the DRS zones but, Thought he would have tried to attack a bit more.

Hopefully the rumours about Kimi Raikkonen coming back to F1 turn out. I'm not sure how competitve he will be in a Willams but still be good to see him racing again, especially if he drives it like he did the MP4-20

It seems pretty clear that the RB does suit Vettel simply because he can pull away in the first few laps whereas Mark is a slow starter and then gets nowhere in traffic due to the RB's poor straight line speed and dirty air grip. The Mac for one is faster, the main reason they don't win more often is because they don't have Vettel who is clearly the best driver around.

button is good under brakes though. i think webber knew that if it came to a battle of the late brakers then button would win. no point binning a car trying to make the pass. he isn't massa or hamo.......

    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
    • Stop looking at the garage floor, and turn the radio up a bit louder if there's any strange noises...
    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
