Got the new 3.538 diffs in.....got some good umph now!!!!

My fears of the speedo being out are cured.....speedo and gps are exactly the same differences as they were before.

Care to explain how a change in diff ratio makes no diff (oh look, a pun) to the speedo reading? Am I missing something obvious?

Installed my new ECU this weekend.. NISMO Sportstune

Very first drive it is obvious the difference with the car being a lot more toey of the line. Best part to be experienced is in the mid range now coming on much stronger and faster.

Next step to put it on the Dyno and see what the AFR's are like and what the actual power out put is.

Is this enough power.. :whistling:

because (as i mentioned ages ago) the speed is taken from the ABS sensors on the OUTPUT of the rear diff. therefore no matter what ratio the diff is, assuming you dont change your rolling diameter, the speed will always be correct as the speed is measured after all the gearing.

where'd ya get that ratio, 34 gtr? I was thinking the same thing today.....

btw hills have a 4wd dyno. what computer?

Ratios are from then nm35 vq25dd or the pnm35....

....Hmmmm waiting for mark to give me a buzz back on the dyno.....to much longer and I'll be going to Victoria for a touch up!

The Nismo ECU's.. how do they go with economy? Better/worse?

Emanage is a piggy back...so it needs an existing ECU to control.

The nismo ECU has certain "awesomeness" in it that makes the car a bit better to drive....and speed cut too I think

Craig's car has the Nismo + emange combo...

better.......you have an economy setting, it uses the snow button!

Worse......the drive is a lot more inviting so you tend to get up it a little more.

I think the main thing is no speed cut and no throttle restriction isn't it?

Has anyone with the Nismo snipped the brake wire?

Don't need to worry about that now though... :whistling:

I think he means with the fcon, the stock ecu still controls the throttle though. There are 4 wires extra in the loom plug I can't account for which may make some changes, not sure.

Doesn't explain how the throttle changed on my car.

Both much more responsive and also more soggy depending on map selected...

Without the infometer you are only guessing though. It could easily be tune related.

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
