Finally fitted the new wheels and tyres!

The old ones were a bit knackered...

Although perhaps I could reuse them as semis?

New tyres are Hankook Ventus R-S3 245/40R18 XL, so they have a higher load rating.

Also put on Volk Formula nuts, which seem to look good in combination.

All in all, pretty happy, and they're much nicer to drive!

Big thanks to SA Motorsport Tyres for a great deal, and a lot of help putting it all together. Looking forward to the next track day!

Looks the goods mate. If I were you, I'd find something a good detailer would recommend as a paint sealer or similar product, and get it on them right away. Will help get the grot off. There are some not so good products out I've heard, so consult a good detailer.

Thanks guys. Yeah the offset worked out well in the end. And they do look a lot like an old school race/rally wheel, which I like :D

I'm heading down to Autobarn tomorrow to get some proper wheel cleaning gear. The QFM pads are pretty low dust until you get to the track. Then the fronts just caked the wheels, backs not quite so bad. Dad has some great Wurth gear that you just spray on and soak in, then hit it with the hose (with some pressure).

Haven't heard of sealing them before, I'll look into it, thanks Alex.

Looks the goods there Ryan, you're running the same offset as mine, with a slightly smaller rolling diameter.

Regarding Wheel sealing; I definitely recommend it, I've been using Autoglym Wheel Seal for several years now; it's just an aerosol spray on; wipe off deal.

I re-apply it every few months, and the brake dust just washes away with a Meguiars wheel detailing brush.

I'd stay away from anything you need to leave soaking; they should clean up with minimal effort once sealed.

Less "What I have done" and more "What Alex has done".

Dropped off his Chassis Brace last night, and Alex kindly offered to throw his laptop & Cypher diagnostic on my Stag, to check for any outstanding ECU and SRS fault codes.

None found; which was not unexpected, as my Attessa works fine, and I don't get any random Airbag codes.

He then offered to throw 2 degrees (from a possible 3 deg advance in my case) of base timing in, and see what I thought of it. TBH, I wasn't really expecting much; but Alex told me a few interesting things about the improvement on another Forum members car.

A quick run up the street to ensure there was no knock; all good.

The trip home revealed a surprising result. The car is more responsive at small throttle openings, and seems to come on boost a little harder too. It's hard to explain; but it just feels a bit "tighter", like a bit (more) of the slack has been taken out of the throttle. Also it's less inclined to kick down on a hill in top gear, on the cruise control, which suggests that there's a bit of extra torque; just as Alex suggested

It's another little "1%" improvement, that our cars seem to have plenty of...

I'm quite impressed that such a small change could net such a pronounced improvement. I'll be giving it a bit during the week and if all is well; I think I'll be asking Alex to try the last degree at the Stagea meet.

Thanks again mate; when we were talking beers, I was honestly expecting a sixpack; not a whole case! :woot: I'll still drink them though...

Also pressed in a new set of Whiteline Lower Control Arm bushes, ready for my new brake set up this week.

Yer he did the same to mine, I find it's just a bit more responsive than normal, just a tad which helps with the shift kit:)

Every time I have a little tinker; I find myself wanting to spend buckets of money...

I put mine on a truck a few weeks ago and had it safely arrive in Perth on Friday.

I had a search but turned up donuts, can anyone recommend anyone to go to in perth, preferably the nth side to look after it? If they can do a vehicle safety check (pink slip) that'd be great too!

Now just waiting for my Apexi N1 from joshm35 to arrive :P

He did 2 degrees from memory. It was worth the try I think :)

    • I was getting anxious with the DVLA not knowing if the paperwork is fine or not, so I rang them. No update had been given, but I  was reassured that providing the box was ticked on the V750 then the application will go through fine. I've been checking the DVLA website pretty much every day, in the hope that it would have been done. Fast forward to Monday 29th  and I was greeted with a new screen on the check, and it finally showed as Taxed and MOT'd, woohoo! The car was in desperate need of a clean, not knowing when this day was coming it was put off. As far as I was concerned I had another 3 weeks  I'm not normally one for using snow foam, but I wanted to give it another try It hasn't cleaned up too bad considering it's 21 years old and lived on a boat for a number of weeks. The personalised number plate is J2 XBK, an illegally spaced number plate would have it read J2X BK. BK could either represent  the colour black or Baker, which is my surname. I filmed the first drive, the Youtube link will be at the end.     • Thank you, 100% the intent. New coils were due and the 17" sixers look/feel loads better than the stock wheels. The aero options are so spot on.   Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
    • 98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?
    • When you say your cams are 272/262 is that 272in and 262ex?
