$250 sounds more reasonable than $300. You're up against genuine plastic lips that won't crack or shatter unless you pretty much smash the car. These can be bought 2nd hand (in perfect condition) for $400 (albeit not Series 3 design)...

And it's always hard to advertise one price and then suddenly double that price and not get customer dissention. It's human nature to feel ripped off and decieved.

The way I figured it was I was able to get the Series 3 style lip for $150, and if it cracked.... meh. Not a big deal... But now we're talking $250 for a lip that is quite liable to crack and shatter, it's still a bit harder to justify.

Just a bit of feedback from where I'm standing at the moment.

:werd:

Like christian, I can probably let 200-ish go easily, but $300 is starting to get up there....

LW.

I dont know what you guys do for a job, but working in the race car industry, makes you a perfectionist. I too have a nice car and help with advice where ever i can to those without much knowledge. I am not a businessman here trying to make a fast buck and I dont make crap products!!!!!!

Mate I have no reason to doubt the quality of your products nor do I believe you're trying to rip us off. The only reason why I'm out is the same as merli - "The way I figured it was I was able to get the Series 3 style lip for $150, and if it cracked.... meh."

Is this a goer? Am I too late??

If not here's my details....

I can supply my lip for the mould if required, don't know if it's in good enough condition though. It has two "cracks" any way I can bring it by for you to check, you're in Kew aren't you?

Model: R33 GTR

Series: SIII V-Spec if that makes a difference

carbon fibre or fibreglass: C/F

Quantity: 1

Just another update guys, here is the current list, 8 R33's and 2 R32's

Name Model Series Type Quantity

jlnewton R33 GTR 3 either 1

MeshMesh R33GTR 3 carbon fibre 2

Blitz – Nick R33GTR 3 either 1

Simmo R32GTR N/A carbon Fibre 1

JagR33 R33GTR 3 fibre glass 1

Pawley R33GTR 3 carbon fibre 1

Bambinator R33GTR 3 carbon fibre 1

Ph1 R33GTR 3 carbon fibre 1

Gav R32GTR N/A carbon fibre 1

Incognito R33GTR 3 carbon fibre 1

jeeez!!! you guys are weird, you want a top quality product made by a perfectionist......then you want to pay less for it than you would for a generally pretty crappy mass produced item.

If the lip from U** is the same standard as the 400R front bar it is absolute crap. The fibreglass won't be wetted out properly and there will be more plain bog in it than you would like to think about.

as for durability I know of a c/f bonnet that weighs between 4 and 5Kg that you can stand on.(this has been demonstrated) though of course this is NOT reccomended practise.

51Jay: Thank you for your kind words. Its nice to see someone with some experience with bodykits. It makes a difference when people know their stuff.

pawley : just waiting for the limit to be reached as you can see some people had pulled out, i am also trying to source a front bar in good nic to copy

sewid: not at this stage

  • 2 weeks later...

well it looks like i have made a blunder of this lower lips thread so I am going to pull out this offer, My appologies to all who were interested and disgruntled, we have been waiting for 2 more people for the R33 GTR's and now one has pulled out so I am bailing before it turns ugly. If i do go ahead for some strange reason all the poeple on the list so far will be notified and offered one.

to make it fair I'll keep it going for another week ending on 17 April.

thankyou.

Sherrid,

I am still really keen, but as I posted before, I have a wedding coming up (5 weeks now!! the nail-biting stage). How much are the glass ones sprayed? As I said before I can probably slip by with $150, but not much more.

I used to do a lot of fibreglassing in my old job too, so i know whats involved with making such things.

Thanks,

Christian

sorry prank, since i dont have a mould i cant make you one. Um since you are a moderator you can delete this thread when you have time.

sorry fro any inconvienience!

Wait.....

How about if I agreed to buy the an original series 3 lip.

Let me know, as I think this lip business is getting beyond a joke now, no one wants to get off there a$$ and do something about it.

BJ get in contact with me if you're still interested in going ahead with this.

What do you mean exactly by "i dont have a mould" did you have a mould b4 you offered this group buy? or were you going to get $$ from ppl, then buy a mould, then make the lips?

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
