Yeh, mine is a slip joint so you can plumb it back in the time it takes you to loosen then tighten two bolts. But its the difference you need in the tune that is the problem. Engine chokes on gases if you dont have a top shelf exhaust and takes less ignition and boost with the gate plumbed back.

yeah we'll be testing it on the dyno to see what effect it has.

So an update...

The HKS oil cooler and relo is now all connected. It takes a lot of oil now! Only thing left to do is a bit of guarding and ducting.

The GTX-3076r is in place with all intercooler piping made by Ace workshop and standard GTR BOV hiding under the front left.

Now for the custom exhaust. This thing is a piece of art!

This was custom built by Ace Workshop and I'm very impressed by the look and sound of it!

We had a broken AFM sensor wire that cought us out but when we got it running we were very happy with the sound of it :)

Tomorrow it is hitting the rollers!!!

That is some fiiiine workmanship there Russ :)

Keen to hear how you feel about your cheat-spec RB25 :) Not thatI'll ever go there myself, but I know you're straight up and experienced, and will give a good account of the difference in your car :)

Bit of a set back with tuning. The HKS 38mm wastegate didn't flow enough so the boost is not controllable from 5.5k up.

Even with the wastegate removed and just dumping straight out we got 10psi boost! That goes to show how good the big housing and flowing exhaust are! We'll probably be going to a Tial 44mm gate now. That means more exhaust modifications....

Unfortunately that puts me out for Deca next sat :(

Next planned debut might be winton on 13th June.

What do you mean by not controlleable? Too much boost and gate not opening? There are few cases of people having this problem with 6boost manifolds and it comes back to the gate being mounted too far from the collector. 6boost provide a 45deg elbow and best bet is to weld one side to the manufold collector and the other to the flange for the gate, making it as short as possible.

Like this...

this may not help but i got my Tial 44mm gate out of the states for under $400. it was delivered within a week once the payment was sorted.

it seems to be an issue on 25s with a 38mm gate. ive seen a few now with all kinds of manifold give trouble.

I have a ss exh manifold with a 3071R and a Tial 38mm gate with a 0.9 bar spring and running a apexi boost controller. I don't have any dramas with boost control but the apexi controller is a bit lazy and a hks one would be better.

Roy might be onto something with the manifold design, 10 pound with no gate does not sound good.

It's a 1.06 rear housing the flange is T4 so it's probably not like your setups. It's a pretty free exhaust housing. The wastegate must have a 7psi spring. Holds 7psi up to 5500 rpm then it spikes so it's opening fine but just isn't flowing enough. The pipe may also be too long like you said Troy. Thanks for the info!

I should be able to get a Tial 44mm for just under $400 trade price locally.

Russ I don't wanna sound like a tool but if you had no wastegate on the manifold at all I thought you would get way less than 10 psi more like 0-1 psi. I would be modifying the manifold first other wise it doesn't matter what gate you are running you will all ways get 10 psi.

what ever you decided I still like your car bud.

Good luck

Haha. No probs. I appreciate the feedback.

We have considered what you're talking about. We have to modify the manifold anyway now so we will probably do what Troy has suggested with moving the gate closer (easier now that we are getting a tial coz they're smaller), but we are planning on running about 18psi so the 44 should hopefully do the job.

Thinking about the path of least resistance and looking at the 1.06 housing vs the wastegate pipe, it's easy to see why the gasses want to flow through the turbo even having to spin the thing! Might be why people go the the lengths of twin gates on twin scroll setups I guess.

I think what you said above about 0-1psi would be true with a smaller housing.

I had the same problem with a 0.82ar gt35, 3.5" exh with a tial 44mm and the gate welded as per Roy's post. The problem & fix are pretty

well documented so I'm surprised you weren't made aware by Kyle when making the purchase.....

The main problem we had when tuning was massive boost creep at higher rpm.

    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
