The problem with your theory is when the turbo blows, what will you do then? Highflow with what size wheels? This Garrett im fabricating wont cost much more but the mods to support it will.

I only built the box because it was slipping when I bought the car and I dont have the VQ35 in yet, I think you mean PM Mad?

Me? If my turbo blows then a standard rebuild will suffice. I'm not doing injectors and supporting mods etc it's just not worth the effort in this car as far as I'm concerned. That's my choice and I would honestly be happy if I had 180kw atw. If I want a mental car it will be a track only car because the temptation to get up a registered car is too great and it would be bye bye licence.

Anyway, who else is going to go for the G Zone? Ryan? You in?

lol Thats what they all say.

if your thinking about mofifying one or two things.. just a heads up at the domino effect.

Too true.

Spoke with Scott the other night...was telling him how when I 1st got the car I was like "200awkw will be plenty!!"

Have most of my mods done now, but itching to crack 300awkw...

Might even look at upgrading the turbo when the tax return $$$ arrives :ninja:

your wife is going to have your head on a platter.

really haha

just a small suggestion....as there are so many people interested why do you either:

* get a groups together and all put in cash and do one and the test it.....that way the outlay is less per person

* All ship you units together through Jesse to and from one point.

anyway only a suggestion!

Great idea, can I be the tester? Please? :)

I will cover all the tuning costs of course. lol.

why not all chip in and get the guys from g-zone to fly down with the equipment? ph34r.gif

Down from Japan?

If they were Brisbane it might be an option, but an international return flight, hotel accomodation, meals and then an agreable dyno owner for however many days?

I don't see that being more affordable than sending them over.

And that's completely aside form the likelyhood of a Japanese tuner leaving his own business to fly halfway around the world.

Ummm... what about our Japanese friend with the rich exhaust vid on M35 info?

Reckon you could convince him to get something done?

Dale, don't feed the trolls... let them be with their tractors :whistling:

Sorry, only been paying half attention - is this place even in Japan?

i know its more local but DrDrift used to fly round aus doing tunes in major citys for the whaling fleet (read r33's) because their boards can't be nistuned but can be chipped by DrDrift

Just let the jap guy stay at your place

also, my corolla sounds much more like a tractor than the stagea pinch.gif

I understand what you're saying, I just think the logistics are a bit much.

I doubt he'd be happy sharing a room with a 3 year old... Even with a belly full of Saké:whistling: Although that would certainly quiet down my son.

I guess we'll have to see what develops.

First, Mr Amino doesn't speak good enough english, I have an intermediary. Love the Japanese, a friend of a friend and she's happy to help in any way she can!

I'm happy to be the guinea rat, but will wait a couple of weeks till I have my exhaust in. Sounds like I'll have all the mods he wants to know about by then. I am keen to here more about Dust's HKS F-Con setup too...

Who is actually interested in moving forward, given a cost of 44000-64000 yen? Think its Tonto, Scott and I?

What size is everyones exhausts? Is everyone running the same sze?

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!
    • http://calfinn.com.au/product/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c   I have this and fits under a S3 33 GTR with no issues. Purchased in 2009 and not one issue. It was $950 back then. Not cheap but something so important isn’t worth cheaping out on.
    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
