Throttle crew on Facebook, I'll be there with 2 mates if the weather is as forecast. You want the deets?

Are you part of this group too? My gf added me ages ago last year and I stopped taking notice as most of the comments and suggestions seemed uninformed, to put it delicately.

How is it when you are actually out on the ride? What are the people like? When the Thursday night rides were on years ago we used to get in excess of one hundred people, would ride from 7.30-10.30, have a bite to eat then a fration of us would do an after ride sometimes until 5am. It is most likely a different thing but those days were pretty good while they lasted *nostalgia*

Last ride I did was with my mates store, Motoheaven, up to Hotham. It was rad. Will get back into it as soon as I get home.

Yeah my mate added me a while ago, think he's been in it from the start.

Plenty of bikes, but not really any incidents to speak of which surprised me...Having been on plenty of car cruises with SAU there's always been near misses, big lockups etc...With 80 bikes, most of them high powered, I was expecting some mishaps but didn't see any...

Also felt pretty welcome considering I only knew the mate I took with me, and my mate that invited me in, and didn't feel like I was being 'looked down on' for being on a 250 etc...

They pretty much set up their own road blocks at roundabouts etc, so I'd say the drivers in those cars wouldn't be too pleased, but they'll get over it.

All types of bikes too, the usual japs, 5-6 Ducati 1098/1198 porn machines, saw a super motard, a ducati hyper something or other, 5 or so Ninja's like mine which was good, not being the only one, and I caught a glimpse of what I think was one of the new BMW super sports....looked pretty good from the little look I got

Looking forward to summer even more now

Nice sounds like a good group. The posts I saw were probably just the odd keyboard heroes, not the same as being out there in person. Haha, yeah I remember blocking roads, usually in St Kilda or some other built up place. I don't think people liked it to begin with but by the end of it they were so fascinated by the amount of bikes going through that it was worth the inconvenience :P

Interesting about the crash report, or lack of. When we rode we had them occasionally, but only during the main rides when someone inexperienced hit gravel or some object that shouldn't have been on the road. Once the smaller group was out going nuts I supposed we were all experienced enough to know how to handle that sort of situation.

It started off Thursday night rides, then they added Tuesday Learner rides (no over taking etc), then Wednesday night fast ride lol. Sad it's not on anymore (best to my knowledge, last time I went there were 20 peeps and no one would lead so I did, seemed to have gone down the drain), the learner rides would have been perfect for you guys to meet peeps and get a feel of your bikes in different circumstances. Just take every piece of advice with a pinch of salt. 90% of it is crap, makes me nervous >.>

Best part of the speech before we left the first meet point was

'its not a race it's a cruise, and anyone that wants to do monos and stoppies...'

(I'm expecting him to say something like this isn't the ride for that)

'...wait until we're out of the city'

Tripped me out hearing that being used to car cruises

Kinda jealous I missed out on the old school car cruises where people let loose once out of the city. Also makes me think why aren't bikes on aca more often or ever, can't think of the last time I saw a segment on them

    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
