LOL!

Nobody posts in there ever only the exclusive events which are rare anyway

can-of-worms-764812.jpg

thats exactly right, but the fact that the moderators wont expand their teams within the Club exec's is pretty poor form, its nothing against the club itself, but more the moderators running the show.

its a simple task, I'm sure that it doesnt have to go before Julia Gillard to grant moderator access to someone such as yourself, it probably doesnt need to go before anyone for that matter, and its a selfish act for the moderators to restrict members access to something they've payed for because they can't be bothered doing it.

There are plenty of people trustworthy enough in the commitee team ie, yourself toby Dan etc, that wouldn't walk around like Mad082 waving their banstick around to justify their ego.

nothing against the vic club, if it was I wouldntve renewed.

The truth

They make people like that complete and utter knob moderators, when he clearly has self esteem issues which make him more of a flog now that he has 'power'

Basically the less admins/moderators there are, the more important they all feel... Pretty sad really.

opps, I just asked when my member access will be available and now a long discussion has started. My bad :whistling:

By the sounds of things, I honestly thought sau vic was better than this?

So you think its acceptable that having paid for membership to not have the access?

Thought wrong brah

Welcome to sauwhingeland man up

So you think its acceptable that having paid for membership to not have the access?

Member's section access isn't the mainstay of membership...you're not missing out on much, not at the moment anyway. Even if you don't have forum access yet, you can still get member benefits and go to exclusive events using your members card - something which we are directly responsible for and do stay on top of issuing. I'm not defending the lack of access, members should have it and promptly...we are trying all we can to sort it out...but it's outside of our control and a bit unfair for people to sledge SAU Vic over it, when it's an SAU issue.

On the side, guys, the club IS the members...that's all committee are...members who volunteer their time to help run the club. We aren't on a payroll and we don't think we're special or better than anyone (except Tony; arrogant shit). If you don't like something about your club, change it. I'm not saying "well you do a better job", but turn up to every event and make it something big/special, get fellow members along; make suggestions about what events you want to see happen and when - the events guys won't knock it back unless it's unfeasible.

We're part way through a revamp of SAU Vic at the moment; we're trying to make the membership more worthwhile. This value-adding includes rehashing our affiliates/sponsors - scrapping the old places that don't even recognise us anymore and getting some big name / commonly used businesses on board as supporters - Tony has been doing an awesome job of this and discount at one of these places alone will more than have the cost of membership paid for. The events guys are looking at doing some cool shit for us, we have some quality members-only merchandise on the way (e.g. jackets) and the rest of us are working to make the club more interactive so people know exactly what's going on at all times.

Alex is right when he says these cars aren't what they used to be. Half the club isn't even Skylines and there are very few paid membership clubs around these days for our demographic and type of car. The car scene isn't what it used to be and neither are the clubs. On top of this, our club isn't for everyone...if you don't feel you're getting anything from it, no one will blame you for not renewing or not joining in the first place. SAU Vic puts on DECA and motorsport events and for people like me, attending these alone are worth the cost of membership. But we are trying to add more to the club so that more people can get more out of it.

tl;dr: quit whinging, good things are on their way, give us a hand.

Grant likes this.

yeah well I looked at all the modern cars.

none of them worked for me

so I thought I might spend a little less and get a fun car

so looking at S15 or 34 GTT

but damn, how cheap have 33R's got, so i'm thinking for a low KM daily why the F not have something fun!

so atm it a 33R or a evo6 TME

How many times do I have to say "nothing against SAU Vic, but against the particular mods" for u to understand I'm not sledging SAU Vic.. Seriously dude read what I wrote again.

I think the comitee are doing an excellent job with what resources you are given. But why does a moderator have to be so selfish and power hungry, that it effects the members?

Fair enough he does alot for SAU ie nationals etc. but why is it so hard for moderator access to be given to one of you, when it can be so easily given to that f**king deadshit mad082? Technically moh should be given access is marc has it.

And I've offered my help a countless amount of times and it goes unnoticed so what's the point?

Tl:dr;

Stop telling me I'm sledging SAU Vic when I'm clearly not. Give someone else in committee mod access. Get rid of Mad082. = happier SAU

Yeah, I've been looking at carsales in last couple of days, and have seen few 33r's for as much as 32r's, that makes 33r better value with added bits such as Brembos, faster attesta, newer/better chassis & motor.

I once thought about buying a Evo 5-6 before buying the purple 33r I had, I didn't like how lack of 'character' these Evos have, it's like you know it's faster, better handling etc but it doesn't give you that special feeling when you drive it (that's just me though).

Would like to buy myself a E46 M3 but couldn't justify the price they go for at the moment - $35-55k whereas in UK you can pick one up for $10-15k (try getting a M3 insured for reasonable price whilst on Australian licence though!).

hell yeah

looked at e46 m3

z4 35s

135

as really they the modern "skyline"

and even 34R are over priced

I'll be buying a good new car for the then wife, and a run around for me.

and so long as I can do most of the service myself a 33R is stupid cheap.

you can import one for well under 16

just over 20 for a good condition series 3 R

if I was doing massive km I prob would not hink it, but for around 5K km a year why not have a fun car!

Honestly, with amount of 33r's on carsales at the moment, I wouldn't bother importing one. But if you don't mind waiting 3-4 months for one, go for it.

33r makes for a good daily driver and weekend tourer as long your missus doesn't over pack!

Well ya said this ya cock and it kind of implies problem ownership for the club:

So you think its acceptable that having paid for membership to not have the access?

    • And finally, the front lower mount. It was doubly weird. Firstly, the lower mount is held in with a bracket that has 3 bolts (it also acts as the steering lock stop), and then a nut on the shock lower mount itself. So, remove the 3x 14mm head bolts , then the 17mm nut that holds the shock in. From there, you can't actually remove the shock from the lower mount bolt (took me a while to work that out....) Sadly I don't have a pic of the other side, but the swaybar mounts to the same bolt that holds the shock in. You need to push that swaybar mount/bolt back so the shock can be pulled out past the lower control arm.  In this pic you can see the bolt partly pushed back, but it had to go further than that to release the shock. Once the shock is out, putting the new one in is "reverse of disassembly". Put the top of the shock through at least one hole and put a nut on loosely to hold it in place. Put the lower end in place and push the swaybar mount / shock bolt back in place, then loosely attach the other 2 top nuts. Bolt the bracket back in place with the 14mm head bolts and finally put the nut onto the lower bolt. Done....you have new suspension on your v37!
    • And now to the front.  No pics of the 3 nuts holding the front struts on, they are easy to spot. Undo 2 and leave the closest one on loosely. Underneath we have to deal with the wiring again, but this time its worse because the plug is behind the guard liner. You'll have to decide how much of the guard liner to remove, I undid the lower liner's top, inside and lower clips, but didn't pull it full off the guard. Same issue undoing the plug as at the rear, you need to firmly push the release clip from below while equally firmly gripping the plug body and pulling it out of  the socket. I used my fancy electrical disconnect pliers to get in there There is also one clip for the wiring, unlike at the rear I could not get behind it so just had to lever it up and out.....not in great condition to re-use in future.
    • Onto the rear lower shock mount. It's worth starting with a decent degrease to remove 10+ years of road grime, and perhaps also spray a penetrating oil on the shock lower nut. Don't forget to include the shock wiring and plug in the clean.... Deal with the wiring first; you need to release 2 clips where the wiring goes into the bracket (use long nose pliers behind the bracket to compress the clip so you can reuse it), and the rubber mount slides out, then release the plug.  I found it very hard to unplug, from underneath you can compress the tab with a screwdriver or similar, and gently but firmly pull the plug out of the socket (regular pliers may help but don't put too much pressure on the plastic. The lower mount is straightforward, 17mm nut and you can pull the shock out. As I wasn't putting a standard shock back in, I gave the car side wiring socket a generous gob of dialectric grease to keep crap out in the future. Putting the new shock in is straightforward, feed it into at least 1 of the bolt holes at the top and reach around to put a nut on it to hold it up. Then put on the other 2 top nuts loosely and put the shock onto the lower mounting bolt (you may need to lift the hub a little if the new shock is shorter). Tighten the lower nut and 3 upper nuts and you are done. In my case the BC Racing shocks came assembled for the fronts, but the rears needed to re-use the factory strut tops. For that you need spring compressors to take the pressure off the top nut (they are compressed enough when the spring can move between the top and bottom spring seats. Then a 17mm ring spanner to undo the nut while using an 8mm open spanner to stop the shaft turning (or, if you are really lucky you might get it off with a rattle gun).
    • You will now be able to lift the parcel shelf trim enough to get to the shock cover bolts; if you need to full remove the parcel shelf trim for some reason you also remove the escutcheons around the rear seat release and you will have to unplug the high stop light wiring from the boot. Next up is removal of the bracket; 6 nuts and a bolt Good news, you've finally got to the strut top! Remove the dust cover and the 3 shock mount nuts (perhaps leave 1 on lightly for now....) Same on the other side, but easier now you've done it all before
    • OK, so a bunch of trim needs to come off to get to the rear shock top mounts. Once the seat is out of the way, the plastic trim needs to come off. Remove 2 clips at the top then slide the trim towards the centre of the car to clear the lower clip Next you need to be able to lift the parcel shelf, which means you need to remove the mid dark trim around the door, and then the upper light trim above the parcel shelf. The mid trim has a clip in the middle to remove first, then lift the lowest trim off the top of the mid trim (unclips). At the top there is a hidden clip on the inner side to release first by pulling inwards, then the main clip releases by pulling the top towards the front of the car. The door seal comes off with the trim, just put them aside. The the lighter upper trim, this is easy to break to top clips so take it carefully. There is a hidden clip towards the bottom and another in the middle to release first by pulling inwards. Once they are out, there are 3 clips along the rear windscreen side of the panel that are hard to get under. This is what the rear of the panel looks like to assist:
