As I dont know much about stretched tyres or stanceworks or hektik mexican poke and strech

Bought some 9.5inch rims with Achilles 235 crappy tyres on them so lots of stretch.

Need to run these temporarily before I can order some proper 265 tyres.

Max psi for the tyre says 50psi.

What psi should I have the tyres at to minimize chances of the rim rolling off the tyre?

As when I went to the servo one tyre was on low psi and the rim actually came off the tyre 1/2 way

I've put in 36 psi for now.

Safe to go fast around corners with streched tyres or not really?

Fkn lol @ 235's on 18's being dangerous...

in 18's ADR's state 245/40 is the minimum legal on a 9.5, so it's only 5mm each side under, however most decent tyre manufacturers will state 235/40/18 as the minimum reccomended for a 9.5. This mean's it has been tested and they are happy to put the company name behind it

I have always run 235/40's on 18 x 9.5 or 235/45 on 17 x 9.5 and have pushed them as far as they will go many many times.

also splain how the tyre can be off the rim, yet still inflatable at the servo?

1/3 the rim came off.

So we took the rim off, jumped on the tyre to put it back into place the inflated it back up

But i'd rather spend the $3k saved on LMGT4's on other bits of the car

And pretty sure I'd get stabbed in my sleep if my wife knew I was planning to spend $3.5k on wheels

NT05's for example are RECCOMENDED, by Nitto, to be fitted to a 18" x 9.5" in 235/40/18

123's have similar performance to the KU36. I'd be running them 36-38PSI hot.

Long term, nothing smaller than 255 should even be considered, on all four corners for the track.

Yoki do a 255 and 265 in R18, Hankook do a 255,265 and 275 in R18. Though the Hankooks are generally a 35 profile and make the tyre a lot taller.

18x10 +25F +35R with a 265 fits on my car no worries. However 18x10 +23F 18x10 +33R and a 285 is on the very edge of tyre destruction.

Grip for grip, the Yoki's are more progressive and grippy during lateral slip (around corners on the power), while the Hankook's are good on initially turn into the corner. Have to see what the 2R compound AD08R are like in comparison. Now for Yoki to stop making tyres for S2000, Evo's and 86's and make some decent sizes, like 285 and 295!!!

Yeah trying to source cheap AD08's or Rs3's at the moment

Waiting for a reply from Taleb tyres and will go from there.

Going for a 265/35 tyre size on a 9.5inch rim

Rs3's from tirerack would be $420 a tire incl shipping and duties.

NT05's would be ~$300 from Taleb Im guessing. So alot cheaper :/ But not as good of a tyre obviously

I was chatting about cheffing today at work and I suddenly remembered a guy i used to work with.

this guy was the ORIGINAL hipster...

had full sleeves on both arms, the glasses, the hair, the fashion... all down pat....

i had forgotten about him until today....

worked with him in 2004!

$420 / tyre!!! No way.

OTR if you want AD08's or RTR if you want RS3. Both are under $400 / tyre.

iirc the AD08 is around $385 and the RS3 around $370.

You should, might, kinda be able to get AD08R's in 265 from OTR as well.

    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt

    • Wouldn’t touch par if they gave it to me. You need to ask how much power you’re looking to make and then add about 50% to it because that’s what you’ll end up making  The factory box says no more at about 350kw or so, the upgraded synchro boxes won’t handle much over 500kw for long and at that point you’re looking at an auto or dog engagement manual,  once you’ve gone dog engagement you may as well go sequential, they cost a little bit more but it’s worth it  also while you’re at it you should upgrade the transfer case with 10 friction plates
