How many litres did you fill it up with? I'm guessing around 50 litres, in which case that's pretty normal economy for a Skyline. And if it hasn't been done, changing the oxygen sensor can help your fuel economy. But I wouldn't be bother if you net around 400km from 50 litres.

A light will come on when the needle is near the E and you'll still have 20km or so left. It's a 60 litre tank.

When i filled it up it was on the 2nd last bar, i filled it up all the way with 100 octane which costed me $65, i think i got around 35 litres before it wouldnt go anymore, it was $1.65 per litre and i put $65 in, so whatever that adds up to is how much i filled it up before it wouldnt go anymore.

My sender is acting funny also.

Haven't bothered to clean it, as long I get at least 400km out of the tank s'all good.

I've managed bit over 500 on a tank before fillin it up today.

Your fuel economy is fine for an N/A 2.5 6 cylinder of that age. If you used 39 litres and got 350km, that's around 11L/100km.

I don't think your fuel sender is terribly inaccurate either. If you assume that half a tank is 30 litres and you were on the next bar, 39 litres isn't a stretch. There's still a good 7-8 litres left after the needle touches the last line.

I wouldn't worry about running out of fuel until your fuel light comes on. It's a bit past the last line on the gauge, just before the needle touches E.

OP6 vs 21U housing - do they share the same bolt pattern and distance from flange to firewall? Thinking of buying a blown 34 turbo to highflow to net an extra ~20hp headroom.

Same bolt pattern, not sure about distance, but it doesn't matter, cause OP6 has been fitted many times without issue. If you're going through HG just give him a 2IU housing and get an SS1PU.

Might pick up some injectors tonight.

If so, that's pretty much everything for first round of mods! Will just need to install all the parts + tune. Yayerr. :D.

Although still deciding whether I have enough cash moniez to also grab aem afr/boost gauge.

Doesn't the SS1PU push the exhaust back even further, or has Tao fixed that? Have you had any long-term issues with yours?

The SS1PU pushes it back further because it's a new turbine housing, not just a high flow of the stock housing. I've had no clearance issues issues, there was plenty of room for my exhaust...still is. Air con drip hose (?) was slightly touching the dump pipe, but I tied it back and it doesn't contact anymore.

Will do a detailed post in the HG thread later today to kill some myths, as I've seen a bit of garbage posted in there lately.

Yeh that would help a lot, there are so many conflicting statements made about that turbo.

Post up your setup+results to go with it

just went to look at a new GTi.

I could not believe how bad the service at the dealer was.

avoided answering questions. fairly simple ones.

ME: when the performance pack is coming out,

THEM: OH GTI's are very popular you will need to put a deposit down to get anything.

ME: what is the lead time if I want XYZ

THEM: Oh you should be happy with any we can offer you as they are very popular.

SO I had looked on their site and they have some optional wheels that I liked more Lighter and wider.

ME: How much are the wheels I saw on the VW site.

THEM, oh I couldn't option them, the normal ones are too popular, you could get them from the spare parts department later if you wanted but we could get you some cheap tyres to put on them!

ME: How much is the sunroof on one

THEM: the GTI is a very good buy as they now have capped priced service.(!!!)

ME oh ok how much is the capped price service

THEM, OH we have not set the price yet but is is sure to ber very cheap. I can tell you the price of the Series6 GTi but it won't be the same.

so frustrating.

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
