Come on guys, get on it... You know how these things normally go, once we hit 5 or 6 people on the thread it starts to snowball into a big thing

Sure beats the crap out of 1st year junior apprentice $7.44/hour award.

how is that allowed? I know electrician apprentices often get shit-all, but a quick check on PayCheck Plus for full-time junior apprentice is over $15 an hour. i dun geddit.

Tell that to the thousands being made redundant

its sad thats theres so many positions disappearing, but not much different from food or manufacturing industry.

That is a really chitty pay mate

Don't know how they pay you less than a bloke that just flips burgers

How many years before you on a normal wage of say $50K p.a?

My first job in a call centre was $19 an hour I think :\ (20 years old)

Pretty shitty job too.

I worked weekends for time and a half and they had some 'issues' (bugs) with the payroll system so ended up on about 64k p.a

Terrible job though quit under a year.

at least you get paid something while you learn, unlike dem uni fees.

Yeah there's a difference between Uni + Part Time Job and Full Time and getting paid the same amount for twice the hours... Normally not left with a $30,000 debt at the end of it though I suppose

Still have to pay for tafe doe.

Edit: and really I learnt just as much about a different field as a labourer earning 50k a year. Spending a week at tafe out of every month although paid is for the most part a massive waste of time. Units rated at 60 hours and such really only take maybe 2 hours to complete and then the rest of the day is spent sitting twiddling thumbs waiting for a teacher who's busy with other students (because classes are far too large and teachers are far too few so the tafe stays profitable) to sign you off so you can go onto the next assesment.

Completely different industry, never done any overtime as a mechanic.Although I'm sure it happens some places in my experience everyone seems rather more concerned with packing up 15 mins before knock off.

    • If you mean the alarm immobiliser; theyre internal to the alarm itself which makes that difficult; I couldnt even see where he put it; its not in the same place as last time; but with all black wiring it might be very challenging to trace  I had someone turn the key for me as I know it only primes for a couple of seconds As my post above; I am getting no voltage to the pump at all; but I am testing continuity of the power line (SB) from the pump plug to the relay fine. As well as the negative from the pump plug to a 12V constant.    Yeah; he blammed the no start on a bad battery; said I needed to get a new battery and it'll start. Turns out the battery drained because the tail lights had been on for half the day during the install (the rubber cushion on the brake switch gave out while he was testing it as I have a picture of the car from that morning with the tail lights off..i've replaced that). The battery was turning over the engine just fine for a long time; but got low since lights were draining it so it was too low to test a start after he finished. I bought a new one on his advice...$250 wasted. My original battery charged up just fine and is healthy.    It was running perfectly fine when I messed up the old alarm (programmed out the remotes). He couldnt start it after removing the old alarm; my assumption is that when he unhooked it; he didnt bridge the circuit back when trying to start it. Its always been perfectly fine. The ECU swap and pump were 2 years ago. It's never missed a beat in that time.
    • This is a big issue for me without the diff. I just have zero drive from the passenger side when drivers side has no traction. Bec's parents place has a crazy steep driveway with odd camber and I have never been able to get up. My bro-in-law's 130i with an (unknown brand) LSD gets up fine as does their dad's Hiace. My car stays at the bottom. We have other odd camber roads around here as we're elevated a bit and if it's raining I can get totally stuck around some hairpins.
    • Yeah, I am super excited for this.
    • Was the car running before he touched the car?
