no point bothering / wasting your time IMO, nothing will come out of it

This attitude is the reason nothing comes of it. For all the people complaining and saying they'll do something how many actually will? The more people do and the more credible they are the more likely something will come out of it. Being complacent and accepting of unfair treatment will only make things worse in the long run.

Lets think back to the whole Anti-Pettet facebook group 2 months ago... on the news the head bloke said "As far as I'm aware, he has never had a complaint made against him"

ok.jpg...

I contested a fine by him and got out of it, "not having P plates up" even though it was up just dark tint on the rear window, so I guess I have done something about it but doubt he heard about it

It was when green Ps first got introduced, so didn't stand out very well with tint + rain

After that though they wanted me to use a magnetic one on the back of car which I did for a year or so, annoying cos sometimes people would take it lol..

Key words being "As far as I'm aware", just like Julia Gillard lied to the cameras yesterday with "I have heard about some media reports, but haven't received any reports/information about it yet" and refused to comment further. Typical politician media talk.

Petite isn't supercop...there's no reason he can't get called up like the rest if enough complaints get made. The reason he and other dick cops get away with it is because they are attacking a complacent section of society who would rather play COD than write the letter. We have the power to vote and yet we have no lobbies? A FB group? Yeah that'll change the world. Thousands of people properly threatening a local government though...that can make a difference. You can bet if they were harassing old people with more time on their hands it would be all over talkback radio and in papers. Most people don't even know about the whole EPA pay-to-get-tested-even-if-you're-innocent bullshit...they are shocked when I tell them. No way would it fly if most cars on the road copped it.

I have some Martin first world problems, jet skiing was cancelled until tomorrow because of weather :( now I'm bored

Might go kayaking

If it's not safe enough to Jet Ski, I'm sure Kayaking will turn out well ;)

Said by every successful person when?

Often as they know the battles to pick.

No offense to you matt but look at it this way, I'm just saying

P plater driving a skyline got a defect is butt hurt writes a letter pleading how unjust the world is. Care factor would be lucky to rival the middle of a donut.

All I would say in the letter is that, got defected for ride height too low, I beleive he is in correct and didn't do it properly. Went to get a RWC the next day, they said right height is fine. Wasted time off work and fees paid.

Just enforcing that he isn't doing his job probably.

You do not even need to identify yourself, or the place that did the RWC... Don't need to mention the type of car that you have. But do mention the fact that he was rude and strangely agressive towards you even though you were being polite.

That body is there to police the police. If they have anyone there remotely like Petite himself, they may even take pleasure in disciplining the cops...always a hungry bureaucrat around to justify his/her job. And a 10 minute letter is hardly a battle. Always miss 100% of the shots you don't take...

    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
