Hey guys,

I've got a friend who needs new tyres for her Falcon. Its just a daily driver, never raced, etc. She is a student so something cheap is preferable. However, she's not the best driver so its probably best that she doesn't get anything terrible.

Just wondering what you guys recommend, and the cheapest place to get said tyres in Melbourne.

Thanks.

Yeah I know what you mean. I was kind of hoping for a bang for your buck tyre like the KU36 is for performance, but in this case just daily driving.

I'll give Wheeltec a call and see what they recommend, cheers.

yeah ku31a on the honda they're real nice, comfy and grippy..whole set just over 500$..

Though mileage is a bit ordinary have only done 35000kms and there almost dead..

.should get at least 60 for daily strret usage

but i will give you all the value for money hot tip here..Brdgestone Duravis..i got a full set of 215/65/15 for about 800$ and they did over 160,000kms of abuse on my ute, no tyre rotating or anything..2 still had life in them when i bought new ones....pretty sure the police use them on their cars as well..they used to anyway..

Bridgestone Turanza, paid 600 for all 4 on my parents Corolla, good in wet and dry, 160,000km (need to check the odometer) on these but they're due for replacement.

Paid 600 from Bridgestone store fitted and balanced.

Yokohama C-drive2!

Traction Tyres recommend the C or A drives when i send non performance cars down there (mum's car with 17's, gf's car with 15's)

one was slightly more performance orientated than the other, can't remember which way around.

I'd just take it to TT and ask them what they think, you'll get straight up advice, won't bullshit ya and won't offer you more than what you want (ie, push you to get a set of AD08's)

KU31? Awesome value, bit of a dry tyre though...

As Alex said, I'm sure in high profile small wheel spec you could a better dry and wet tyre for the same cost.

All rounder - Kuhmo KU31. Checked prices - quite cheap actually

True.

I am running KU31's all round at the moment.

KU21's are what I'm running at the moment, slightly longer life than 31's and slightly less performance in the dry but a bit better in the wet. A bit cheaper too I believe.

Yep.

I have used them on the fronts before switching to KU31's all round.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
