+ the turbine housing so easy another 500+

"most" of the guys that would use them would have the rears off a -5, 2530, RS or -10.

The big cost is the intake piping.

The guy I was spekaing to wanted to come and have a look at my engine bay when the engine and turbo's are in. He may have an idea.

Does this mean you are making the switch to these turbos now piggaz ?

Nah. I'm keeping the little 5's. It made 426 at 22 psi top end. 450 was only a intake cam twist away. That will do. I'm not too keen on the whole custom piping. OEM airbox FTW!

i was interested in the GTX2860 on my car too. What are your specs you got the 2863 right? i have a stock engine, but i will be putting tomei 260 cams in. I am not looking at making more than 550whp as i have my RB26 in a old Datsun 240z, I think anymore than 550whp would be a death wish for sure. Do you think it would be worth it vs the GT2860-5? I would think i would use the smallest ones i could, i wish they had a compressor map but i dont know how to use them anyway. I am also considering the borg warner efr with internal gate for a small or midside single turbo, but i do like the curve of the twins. What do you think?

^^^

On a WELL setup car you will get close your 550 rwhp with the normal 5's. If you go that way you won't have the added complexity and expense of the custom intake piping. Will it be on e85?

Pump gas. I do all my own fab work so it might cost me 100 bux for the argon and the piping. Although i do value my time these days... I was curious abou the -5 and the surge. i dunno what i'm gonna do. I was trying to hold of for the EFR borg warner turbo but its always 3 months out and i kind of light the curve of twins. Traction is an issue, but i can control traction and boost via aem ems V2 so not too concerned.

What do you mean by setup correctly? I'm in the States so we have 93 as pump. My current setup is

Hmmm. What I think the Zeeeb is saying is that your air intake is drawing air from behind the hottest part of your radiator...

You could go a long way to improve your setup by just moving the air intake. Perhaps to behind the left headlight. Or even box the filter in close to the left guard and duct air from behind the headlight to the filter. You might have to move the radiator overflow to where the filter is, but there will be room.

You can only "get away' with that kind of intake setup if you happen to live in an area that has typically <10 degree C ambient temps, because your thermostat will barely be opening and as a result your radiator core temps (and exhaust air) will be much lower.

Designing an optimal setup in conversions is always a challange because the cars were never designed for that kind of setup.

Belive me I tried. There is no room for anything in this bay. If I stay with the twins i am going to make a duct for the filter. I kinda planned on going small to midsized single turbo from the start. This setup is just to get the bugs worked out before I make the horsepower jump. After seeing a lot of dyno graphs on singles I'm not so sure i want that kind of power curve. Most seem like they are off and on. Granted with the EMS i can do all kinda of traction and boost control so I just just say screw it and do it anyway.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
