which car doesn't have aero in Pro class Roy?

Hopefully not something ugly as sin with aero.

As impressive as they are for the design, commitment and spend I find some of the extreme cars horrible to look at. Which is fine, I don't own them and they are designed to go uber fast, not be pretty.

I would personal;y sacrifice a bit of speed to have a car that is more "garage jewellery" spec :)

But I am curious how much of the extreme stuff is functional aero, we are not talking about Pikes Peaks cars which need uber downforce due to low friction surface and generally average speed less then 130km/h. Someone was telling me a car generates 1000kg of downforce! I cant see that being right, as thats more than an F1 car! So I think some numbers get thrown around and people dont stop to consider the merits of the claims.

Yeah I much prefer the modest aero compared to the hammerhead, 7m long silvias and batmobiles.

Cyber evo and sierra have showed that you don't need stupid protruding aero to win. Subtlety and discrete clever unseen aero mods are way cooler and still keep the cars looking tough. Cyber this year looks hideous but what can you expect from C-west. Voltex are very clever in my books. Just look around the car parks at track days and you'll see every frieken evo has a voltex wing, voltex canards, voltex front lip, voltex roof wings etc. Their products are functional but not detracting away from the original car. How many snow ploughs are c-west gunna sell after WTAC??? lol

That's just plain ugly, no matter how quick it is I'd never want to own/drive it!

Happy for my car to be slower but still look normal.

Reality is you'll never compete with these guys anyway so why hack the shit out of your car trying....??

The car has probably had 95% of its life being built and only 5% being driven and dialled in. So I dont think they will look silly if they don't win. Sure they could fall from the sky and be the quickest and win it or they could do an amazing job and be 1-3seconds off a very fast pace...no crime in that. Good on them for putting their money behind their ideas and concepts but.....like you its just not for me.

I think the NEMO EVO is one of the cars that I read was designed by Andrew Brilliant and claims 1,000kg of downforce :( That is amount for a tin top if realised!

I just hope the incredible spend doesnt stop the car from being developed and races in months/years to come. Its a shame that none of the R35s that ran in Pro last year are racing again this year

Personally I am rooting for the lil GT3 Exige. I understand it actually has some hp now so hopefully fly the rwd flag in Pro class along with the UAS HMAS ZED :)

Our advantage is having people from the V8supercar background data acquisition.

She has gone above and beyond, most forms of motorsport, in regards to data acquisition. We are monitoring and logging everything we can. We even have incorporated Aero data acquisition, just for Andrew.

I know he is smiling when I say that, but so are Leigh and James in regard to Suspension data and also Nick in regard to engine data acquisition. We are not going to leave any stone unturned. We would, like everyone, like more testing time on the car, but with the adjustability of the design and the data acquisition capabilities, we believe we have a good plan that we are confident can deliver on

Having seen SSE, Cyber Evo and HKS Evo, they were all great cars created on either suspension, chassis design, weight, engine horsepower and aero, or a combination of a couple of them, but not a culmination of all of them, they took parts of each to create a great car. We wanted to achieve more, that has been our goal, to be at the forefront on each and everyone one of those areas.

big call to say all those top cars are lacking in at least a couple of major areas! and that their car has it all covered...

Top Fuel and Voltex have a good chance this year, surely.

Light as fark, low center of gravity, mega power and sensible aero.

Same principle to the Exige crew I suppose.

been there twice and each year i am pretty sure i see each car out there for 2 laps total on the main day

thank god there is cool shit to look at and drool over in the pits because from a druncan spectators point of view its shit racing

That might change in the coming years. I think it'll be interesting to see how this years cars go with some of the more "out there" stuff in the builds.

I actually reckon they should use a control tyre, like a slick used in V8supertaxis, so you can go out and do multiple laps without worrying about overheating/overusing your tyres. It should be like the V8 qualifying sessions, hectic as all shit with plenty of cars and plenty of laps.

Now that'd be good to watch. Something needs to be done!!

It'll also level the playing field for normal people who don't have a $10,000 tyre budget for the weekend.

Competitors cannot be blamed for having ugly or extensively developed aero packages, the problem is fundamental to the regulations. designers and builders would be remiss to not attempt to eek every possible advantage.

However I always thought time attack was more of a production based event, similar in many respects to Grp A and various touring car series around the world.

This isn't a stab at the event or organisers or the competitors, I went last year, loved it and I am going this year as well.

If they can do more than 2-3 laps without running out of fuel or spontaneously combusting!

    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).

    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence.
