Anyone tried the BFGoodrich g-Force R1?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+R1

It's not far off a full semi and they are pretty cheap. what do you guys think?

I think they're very soft. Should be good for hillclimbs if you're in a class that allows slicks.

Consensus is that R888s suck on GTRs, but are ok for light cars. I have R888s at the moment, after using Fed RSRs. Although there was some months in between the last RSR session and the first R888 session, they dont seem that much different (and they should be since S spec to R spec)

Ill be looking to go for something decent this year as will actually be doing some track work finally!

Running RSRs at the moment and they are good on tight tracks but as soon as i went on SMSP GP Circuit they were gone after a few laps! (Fronts)

I just got a set of AD08Rs in 285/30R18s for the R33 GTR from Traction too. In fact probably my 3rd set of tyres from there...

The AD08 was good so looking forward to trying these out... however I did run Hankook Z221s are they were amazing... for 2 track days then they went downhill.

I cannot believe that they still make wheels small enough to put a 195/50/15 on.

We have been very happy with the performance of Kumho V70a's on our R33 to the point that we have just purchased another set in 255/45/17 and 275/40/17 - just what you need for the MX5.

Hey Chubbs I have found some for you for $225 each at International Tyre Trader

Here is the page that they are on http://www.tyretrader.com.au/index.php?route=product/search&filter_tyrewidth=195&filter_tyreratio=50&filter_tyrediameter=15&sort=pd.name

At that price you would have to check the build date because they sound cheap

Where did you get them? How much for the 255s?

.

I have Falken RT615s on My 34 rims and hate them very very much, horrible tyre, I have AD08s in 265/35/18 on my 32 and love them, I have just put RS-3 in 275/35/19 on my 34 and am yet to see how they go, picked up a set of Z221s this mourning in 265/35/18 and have run out of rims :(

Didn't want to read the Z221s go off so quick, bugger

I picked them up from a guy who ran them on a Silvia in Time Attack - so even though they were on a high horsepower car they had not had a lot of use or heat cycles.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
