Hi Guys,

I have ordered in a HKS Super Turbo Muffler for my R34 GTR as the current exhaust, a Tomei Expreme Ti is just to loud for me as a daily driver.

It came in from RHD Japan today, I will install it tomorrow.

It is going to be really interesting to see how much quieter it is, actually the sound will be very different I guess, going from Ti to stainless.

Anyway, here are some photos.

I will add more once installed.

The Tomei Extreme Ti looks p0rn !!! Might have to take it off your hands if you want to get rid of it for the right price :)

Well I will be happy to sell it :)

Only thing will be I have no idea who to get a shipping quote from??

But just to let you know I have one other guy from Sydney PM me last week, so he gets first dibs. I will try and get shipping quotes and let you know.

The sale thread is here:

Good post.

My Super Turbo Muffler will go on my car tomorrow.

I ordered that ahead of the Tomei Ti for the exact reason you discovered, that the Tomei is just too noisy for what I want in a daily driver car.

Going from a more restrictive Fujitsubo Legalis R (76mm) to the 85mm HKS should hopefully gain some HP for me in any case. :-)

Good luck with your fitting!

Hi Guys,

So I fitted the new exhaust and WOW, it is SO quiet now. I can't believe how much difference it has made.

Power wise I 'think' it is OK, based on the seat of my pants there is no difference, but only time will tell - I will get it back to Racepace at some point to run it up on the dyno and just see how it goes, but I really think it is no different to the Tomei.

This makes sense to as the pipe diameter on them both are the same, no difference.

I also prefer the look of a straight exit instead of angle exit.

As per normal HKS style the quality is fantastic.

Nice pics.

It's an awesome bit of kit isn't it? Very quiet (as quiet as my previous restrictive Legalis R) when idling or cruising, but makes a great sound when you give it some revs. Love it!

Yes,

I am very surprised at how quiet it is!! Normal driving, especially freeway driving at 100 is really close to a standard exhaust.

And then when you open it up and give it some it really starts to roar.

Can't wait to get it on the dyno and see the impact, if any,

I'm pretty much sold on getting the Super Turbo after hearing it in real life and seeing it isn't that restrictive. Were you able to get a power figure difference between the Tomei and HKS?

The Tomei Ti is way to loud for the street and hurts your ears after a drive to and from work everyday.

The drone on the freeway sucked.

The HKS Super Turbo is awesome!!

I lost NO power at all and was making a comfortable 360rwkw at 19psi.

Ah Thanks for the advice... now the decision is down to HKS Super turbo or Mines Silence-VX Pro Titan III

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
