Ok so I bought some Defi gauges. 60mm white Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Tacho with the control unit. Don't really want the tacho but the guy wouldn't seperate lol, so if anyone is after one I'll be selling one soon.

I plan on mounting them in the stock gauge position so if anyone has pics of theirs installed that would be great. I've been told a bit of creativity with the brackets is needed.

ive been wanting to do the same thing but wasn't been able to find a right up/how to for swapping the gauges. if you do end up doing it could you please show how you did yours. that would be great thanks :)

though beautiful car though mate been following your build for a while now :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Small update, still haven't fitted the Defi's, soon hopefully haha. My plan is to fit an oil cooler at the same time so I think I will do it at next service as to not waste the oil in the car.

I went to my local exhaust shop and got him to make up a new straight through pipe to take out the mid muffler in my exhaust, it isn't all that much louder, bit more crackly which is nice. I have kept the old section though so if it ever becomes an issue I can just switch it back on :) . The guy also fixed up a bracket on my dump pipe too as there was a lot of movement in the exhaust as the first bracket was down near the diff.

Bought a pair of Rota P45R2's in 18x9.5 +20, due to having buckled one of my rims back at Wakefield, they should be here soon I would hope. I will buy another pair when I have more money lol. I know everyone isn't a fan of Rota, but with wanting to drift my car I don't want to spend lots of money on wheels only to ruin them at the track.

Will be attending some hill climb events at Mount Panorama on the 1st/2nd March, pretty keen for this. Plan is to hopefully do clutch/flywheel after this but before the motorkhana at Easter, will have to see about funds though :(

Also, my housemates girlfriend is into photography and wanted to try out some HDR style shots using my car so I got a friend with a R33 to come along too and below is a couple of pictures she did :)

pretty sweet editing with the photos they do look great kudos to your housemates gf for excellent shots

as for rotas well..not everyone has a bank account that can afford volks or work etc etc.. plus theres no point (in my own opinion) spending that sort of premium for a not so aggressive gtt fitment haha :) im looking at getting a set or rotas theyl be just cruising wheels and my stockers will get the abuse.

awesome as always mate :D

Cars looking good Tim

What colour did you end up getting them? I went hyper black with mine :)

Got a pic? I'm going to get my rims resprayed gloss black but curious to see what hyper black looks like

I'll put a pic up as soon as they arrive (if tim allows a small thread hijack :D) either tomorrow or early next week I'm told (exciting times)

Send me a PM instead, that way we don't mess up Tim's thread :P

Yea will post pics this arvo when I fit the new ones too.

They will fit no probs, if you've lowered the car a bit you will need to roll the guards but not flare, as long as your camber isn't anymore positive than -1 :P

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
