its only running 19psi in the mid , theres hardly any change to the boost at the redline, hence you get the same rwkw?

Maybe get an ebc and set it up for 19psi at redline , and add the 3inch steel intake pipe, although im not sure that turbo is happy with much more than a bar is it?

I agree there's barely much variance at the peak power in boost between the two setups.

If you focus on deresticting intake & exhaust, and get the boost steady from midrange through to redline (can be tough on internal wastegate turbos) then you should get a better result.

Or do what Jez said lol

What are the inlet temps with that sidemount? That 210 alone is impressive in my book for a side mount intercooler. What are the ARC sidemount's dimensions? I'm guessing decently thick but still rather small length and height wise.

that was the issue last time, AIT were sky high, now it can make that power all day.

it was odd that it would not make power even adjusted cam gears all over the place with no real gains.

Only thing i could pick was intake was rubber and small.

it is also has more mid as it took more mid timing.

This sounds more and more like restrictions. The fact that it's not responding to boost and timing.

I would do as I did, and take the advice of Status and knowledgeable SAU members and go down the well beaten path of getting the engine breathing with proven mods (intake pipe, quality front mount, quality dump pipe, good cat, free flowing cat back) before moving on to more in depth troubleshooting.

What size injectors are you using Chris?

Currently have some Nismo 555cc ones.

Yes there are some exceptions,

But imagine if u had an rb25 :)

Haha I have to imagine a world where I could afford all that first! Surely the better pump and some bigger injectors and I can still get 250!

Also what exhaust do you have? 3" all the way? Cat?

Some people don't agree but I install a decat pipe when ever I do exhaust upgrades.

I find the car seems much more rev happy with out them! Assuming the rest of your exhaust is good!

You can get silicone intake pipes for about $60 of eBay might be something to think about?

Filter is it a good brand? And clean? You would be surprised at how much hp you can loose with a dirty one!

These are the things I would check first and then play with the boost until it holds 19psi to redline

3" all the way with hiflow cat. Will buy new silicon joiners & new air filter on the way (although Trent gave a few runs with lid off to see if filter restricting)

Staying away from any ebc / bleed valve for now...

Rb20's just dont seem to be making power lately. Time for rb25 :)

once (if) the 20 pops, then a 25 will be put in :P

Will modify intake next weekend and will have to pop by for another run!

will do. Will report back once intake is sorted out.

Thanks everyone for the help. Will keep this thread updated with any progress :)

Also have you done the throttle body coolant bypass mod?

It's very easy and can drop your intake temps but a few deg :)

It's one of my favorite mods cost nothing so free power!

Why is it run through the TB stock anyway? Is it emissions or something? I had that mod done on my rb25 180 when I had a plazmaman plenum because I had to, but I thought it must be that way stock for a good reason...

It helps to prevent icing in the TB in cold weather. Think really cold, like Northern Japan cold. Totally unnecessary in 99% of Australia.

i made about 220wkw on rb20 with the same turbo tho it ran out off steam aswell....your not going to get anymore out of that its too small! ive also maxed a TD06 at 270wkw @ 17psi. Pumped 20psi into and picked up 50wkw in the mid range instantly but lost 2kw top end due to the turbo just not being able to flow up top

exactly what is happening here

exactly and where do you spend most of your driving time...in the midrange or on the limiter....;)

Sorry for the late reply

The coolent in the throttle body is to stop it freezing when in sub zero deg temps!!

I am talking about -10 and colder!!

So it is NOT required in Australia!!

Just for example

The lowest temperature ever observed in Japan was -41 degrees Celsius (-42 degrees Fahrenheit), recorded in Asahikawa in January, 1902.

Keep in mind that the intake temps on a (street aka no ice boxers) turbocharged car are normally between 10 to 20 deg hotter than the air temp (depending on setup)

Different dynos but there are loads of people running 220-240rwkws out of a 2530. I know Russ ran 21psi through his thing and made 23#rwkws for a long time before throwing his RB25 in. He couldnt get it to hold more than something like 16psi at redline as it would not hold boost.

For giggles replace the inlet pipe, blank off BOV and remove cat for tuning and go from there

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
