Which car is faster? I know the ford has more kw but is much heavier? I also heard the ford is easier to get power from.

Also my mate has one and wants to have a go against my gtst.

I don't have much on it, but here it is.

Front mount intercooler.

3inch exhaust piping (also noob question, when piping is all the way through does the stock cat still stay of aftermarket one replaces it. I can't tell if its stock or not. Or even if I have one, sorry not good with car mod details.)

K&N pod filter ( not sure if its part of an air jntake shstem or whatever I think the attached parts are stock.)

Atm turbos not boosted. Stock 7.

His car has air intake system and exhaust piping.

From personal experience, I have an HR31 GTSX with a 25 and a new FG MarkII XR6T. As far as the engines go its a no brainer. The 4L does it so much easier. The car I test drive I gave a bit to for one hit and the things just go. It was auto, mine is manual and the thing hasnt seen half throttle yet. Its not so much the power difference but the torque is awesome for a stock car on I think 5psi. The 31 with some mods on 14psi has about the same rwkw as the stock xr6t but is lighter. The ford doesnt feel like a 1710kg car tho. Older versions have less power (240 kw) but your comparing a mid teenage car with a 2.5L to a car less than 10years old with a 4L. If your looking to mod think of it this way. Your exhaust, FMIC, intake, boost, fuel pump and injectors with a tune in a 33 will net you anywhere between 220-270rwkw with a hi flow turbo pending parts tune and how much your engine can take and u want to push. The ford with those mods minus the expense of the turbo will net you between 290-320rwkw and even more torque again.

I'd expect the XR6 to win

you guys got no idea....With 11psi and an exhaust I had no problems dusting off xr6t foulcans...add a few corners to the mix and the skyline is an easy winner..

Better yet run a 20 yr old skyline against a 20yr old ford and see who wins

The extra power of the Falcon will hand it the win for sure.

Also are there going to be any corners in this race? Because if there are the Falcon will still pwn the GTST, You would be surprised what an extra 10+ years of suspension development has done to newer cars.

it doesn't count if they aren't racing you, lol.

Did some people ignore my post? I dont know any mildly modded 33's making 220+rwkw at 11psi. The BF Mark II especially had a pretty good change in the suspension area. My HR is lighter than a 33 and with the GT3076r and supporting mods on 14psi will probably keep up with the standard XR6T. Your comparing a car more modded than the original posters to a completely standard car. I read the original 33 in this post had stock boost aswell as mods listed and the xr6 had intake and exhaust mods. With those details in mind in the original post the original question can be answered not the "yeah but if it had this done" question.

Sorry to sound like an arse.

Stock low boost ford has no chance against a boosted rb 25.

Sorry Genelle, but No.

A skyline with FMIC, full 3" exhaust and extra boost will get hosed by a stock XR6T, especially if its an FG.

I have an FG, completely stock except for heavy as f**k 19" rims, cheap ass rear tyres, bodged the launch, and still ran a 13.005...

Rolling runs from 70KM/H no way will the 33 keep up...

Not to mention, change just the dump pipe on an R33 and tune it to suit (If you don't retune they won't really run as the ECU is very finicky) and you're now easily running flat 12s.

There is actually an FG dead stock running 12.2 down the quarter. Completely and utterly stock.

On the roll, especially with an auto, they're freaking QUICK cars. Punt it into a turn, sorry to say, but a fresh redo of the suspension (To standard) in an R33 will also get hosed by an XR6T, especially if you add water into the mix.

It's surprising how quick they are, even more so when you make all things equal.

As to the OP in question, I wouldn't bother wasting your fuel against him. You will lose unless he's a dunder clump that can't drive...

FG XR6T runs 10PSi of boost, except under "Overtake" conditions, at which point it will run 11PSi, oh, and you'll know when you reach over take conditions, an extra 10% boost on the 4L is a lot more air flow.

BA and BF run 6PSi.

IIRC the Typhoon runs 12 or 13PSi standard.

Also to all of you comparing power, think of it this way, the XR6T redlines at just on 6Grand, standard making peak power at 5500RPM...

Convert your torque levels and the 4L is putting down roughly 20% more torque... And that is what wins a race.

Not to mention, when stock, an FG is making 553NM of torque at 2500RPM and holds that power flat to 5500RPM...

The figures I read must have been old then, explains some of the 30KW gain from a slightly smaller turbo between the BF and FG. Im trying to look after this car so wont be reaching this overtake mode for a while, im interested to know more about it. Also Launch control wont get a workout.

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
