Wont go off at you - but ill tell you what will happen:

Going to court he will most likely add these

- Speeding -> License Suspension (1 Year at least)

- Driving Dangerously & Endangering Lives (Cancellation of License - Mandatory 6 month term)

The second bit is mandatory and your License will be cancelled and depending on your age you will have to either go on the P's again or you will have to wait out the Period before you can get your license back (e.g 1.5 years)

Having said that because you didn't have a fine in a long time is good - however at the speed you were going and the people in the car I can almost assure you you might have your license cancelled.

Not much you can do really bite the bullet or go see a lawyer.

Hope you don't go to the Dandenong Court as basically said no lawyer can help you there when it comes to speeding.

Lol Dandenong court. When I was 18 I was in a small accident, that for some un known reason police were called.

Was summoned to court over it. And the judge still took my license for 3 months after saying its good you had insurance and it was only a small accident but I think a $600 fine is not enough.

Yeh good luck at Dandenong, at least 2 years if you try and defend it.

Charles, you would be able to travel but you would have to declare that you have a prior criminal conviction. Also will show up on police checks for employment, good luck explaining that to potential employer.

Location of offence does matter. Get caught at 150 in middle of nowhere in dry weather, probably not speed dangerous or conduct endangering, but do 100 in 50 zone in rain almost hitting kids at school crossing same speed offence but will have much higher penalty at court.

you can travel to some places,

but many block people with any conviction.

eg USA is then off limits.

Knew a guy who had a DUI and he could not get a visa to travel to the USA, (so he snuck in via canada..)

EU and such is fine as no visa is not needed.

What's with everyone hanging it on the OP?? So what he messed up and did the wrong thing, who here hasn't? I see a lot of people making judgement calls like they are perfect drivers with perfect driving records and perfectly legal cars that are always 100% of the time law-abiding. Give him a break. He came on here for advice like we all do, not to be told how badly he's f*d up - quite clearly he already knows that. We all drive imports, we all like going fast, we've all done the wrong thing at some point. Some of us have been lucky and not been caught while others haven't been so lucky. I'd be very surprised if there was a single person on these forums that hadn't given their turbo a squirt on an open road....

Anyways in response to your question perzn_34, the best advice I can give you is cop it on the chin. Your chances of having the sentance reduced are very slim given the police caught you both on radar and camera, and if you go to court and plead not guilty and are found to still be guilty (which you will be) or plead guilty but your grounds are found to be frivolous (which they most likely will be) you will almost certainly end up with an even harsher punishment for wasting the court's time. It happens all the time and any experienced traffic lawyer will tell you this....save yourself the time, effort, money and heart ache, just bite the bullet.

Andrew, there is no way in hell you will get your speed reduced enough at court to change the 12 month suspension. If you take matter to court you SHOULD get charged with conduct endangering life and speed dangerous. If convicted on those you WILL have a criminal conviction also so I think the choice is obvious. Just take the fine and suspension, you got off very easy.

I would have definitely charged you for all offences and impounded your car, IMO this is very slack by the police member.

Just incase you didn't work it out OP... gdogz is a copper, and you SHOULD listen to him here

OP asked for thoughts and help - I offered both with reasoning. So what some of it was a reiteration?

because we've heard it all before?

Well, if he wants to do it the dodgy way, does OP still have an interstate license? And also interstate registered cars? Because if he does, just drive on the interstate car and use his interstate license, till his suspension period is over.

OP, i just got back on the road after doing the same 2 years ago

cops word against mine, had no real proof, claimed 150+ (followed me at speed and said i still pulled away), dual lit empty highway.

long story short, car impounded for 30 days on the spot $821, sent to court (9 months later), 1 year loss of licence, $750 donation to royal childrens hospital, defensive driving course $150+, awareness seminar $300, 12 month good behavior bond (whilst suspended).

when i got my licence back i had to restart my p's, i then recieved another letter from vicroads informing me i had lost 8 points for the offence, 2 options 12 months 0 points good behavior bond, or 3 months loss or licence, went with option one as option two means i add another 6months to my p's

basically your f**ked, the silver lining is you can drink as much as you want without the hassle of driving

p.s to the people that care about the skyline image i sold skyline bought a diesel lux which on my lastest high speed test maxed 105km on a 3km stretch of road, so no more speeding for me and wrecking the skyline name :)

Hey Graham, whats the Deal here? shouldn't these 2 suspensions run concurrently?

I've had something similar ages ago.....

Coming back from Bendigo I was speeding. Cop was driving opposite side of the freeway but turned on his radar. After about 5km of him catching up to me he pulled me over and explained that I was speeding and that his radar detects the fastest moving object.

I could have contested it as there was other speeding cars however I didnt know any better and I accepted it (I should have as I was driving 20km's over the limit - but not having ever pulled over before or having a fine i just thought it was me).

I was caught 38km over the limit so the fine was put as 35km over. That day VIC introduced the law if you speed 35 or over its an automatic 6 month suspension and 6pts.

After my 6 months I went to VIC roads and they told me on the spot I had to choose either 1 point for the whole year or another 3 month suspension (as i was on my P's).

The way it works is that a fine for speeding is one suspension, and the points system is another - so basically it doubles up (if you don't have any remaining pts left)

Same applies now just worse fines.

I don't think it's the fact that everyone's giving him shit about committing the offense, I think people are moreso pissed off, that he got caught doing it, with a full car load in the wet, knowing full well what the repocutions are for being caught, but still wants to fight it and plead not guilty after being caught, on film.

That is pretty stupid, and what the vast majority of people in this thread are saying.

We're also pissed off that these forums are our only avenue to project a better image for ourselves as enthusiasts, and instead idiots are using it so say "It's okay man, don't worry, EVERY Skyline owner does 180km/h on public roads; I got caught too and the law sucks."

It doesn't matter who you think speeds and who doesn't, how stupid can you be to say this shit in a thread about speeding on a Victorian forum about Skylines? Have you not heard of PR? All it does it mar our reputation, whether we are all guilty of it or not.

Amazing how only the guys stupid enough to be caught for it are the ones stupid enough to state that everyone does it...I see a correlation forming.

    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
