In WA, SGIO vintage veterans classic policy

About 480 a year full comprehensive cover!

Agreed value of 45k (due to high km on R)

That sounds great, what restrictions do they put on the Policy.

Mine was over 3 times as much for $65k and I thought that was a great price, but there are restrictions, NO more than 10 times a month can you use your car, no shopping, no dropping the kids off to school etc . You must have a DD!

When you look up SGIO and put in NSW it directs you to their partner in NSW, the NRMA , that is who I use but the price is so much higher. I do live in a country town, so it is not like I live in a suburb that is high risk

Best give nrma a call as there's selection criteria one has to meet (15 year old car and older/ enclosed garage or gated carport with hard roof/ car not primary vehicle and driven like a weekender - no more then 10 times a month and less then 9000km p.a)

Those are just some, so it's not a policy for everyone

As I said in earlier posts, this new 10 times a month will be harder to police than 9000klm PA. At least with the 9000klm they can have a chance of checking your klms on the odometer, but 10 times a month would be a nightmare to keep track of, or prove ??

Does it mean you can use your car 120 times a year, or if you used your car 1 time during a month and then 10 times half way through the next month, that you cannot dive it one more time that month and you cannot use any of the 9 drives from the month before that you did not use. Just joking, but it seems to be just about impossible to enforce .

Perhaps NRMA VVC's main criterion is the car's age nowadays.

The insurance company methinks, assumes that if the owners are taking good care of their cars 15yrs old and over, that they wouldn't want to run up the mileage anyway.

What makes me think this is that unlike other insurance companies, VVC doesn't have any insistence on an AD/NZ Certified Security Alarm System - nor one with black wiring - nor a 3-way.

There is no doubt that you can get your car insured closer to it's worth, but unfortunately not what we spent on them, or think they are worth, lol

My premium dropped by $500 and the agreed value went up $20,000 BUT naturally there are trade offs with driving limitations, but I think for most of us , well worth it

i don't care about what ive spent I know its money I will never get back, but if something happens to it, I want to be able to purchase another one in the same condition and at what I had it valued at before that wasn't possible

^^^ Exactly, but I doubt if some of us would ever be able to insure the car for what we have spent but at least it is closer than the crappy amount some other companies will insure us for and then charge a shit load more for the honour of using their company

Volatility *cough - Appreciating values means that many GT-Rs are worth more this year than last year.

Start negotiating between insurance companies (plural) when you get your renewal this year.

application... denied :(

car is too new, apparently being very picky on the 15 year rule; 2 months ago i might have had a chance (or so i was told) but i was told they're being very strict now.

sucks... only other viable options are still exy (Shannons and LSV)

anyone else have a 2001, 2002 with this veteran/vintage mob?

Just rang them to get a quote on a highly modded r32 GTR they said they won't insure it they have tightened up what they will and won't insure even though the car is over 15 years old.

Door closed

why not? Because mods?

Could have been a lot of blokes trying to get the insurance with hot cars, sure they fall under what was their policy but I guess someone in NRMA did not like the idea and figured a lot of these cars are built to go fast for a reason, to go fast.

But there are also older blokes that might might get it without a problem?.

Lets face it you can buy a car off the showroom floor that fly's, shit you can insure a GTR for $150,000 cheaper than a Skyline GTR at less than half the price, so go figure ???????????

But like all cars on our roads, you must obey the rules.

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
