Kelly is going to kill you when she sees that :D

who's kelly. when's the next practice session which requires no license, and how crowded are they. i know i'll get laughed at for driving an N/A on there, but I jus wanna have a feel for it.

Snowman - going to do the HSV sprints at Sandown (8 August) or the WRX Club sprints at Sandown (15 August)?

Mate - am running the Dutton from August 6-8 so will be giving those events a miss. But as posted earlier am going to look at Phillip Island later in August. The next NDSOC/MSCA event is the hill climb at Rob Roy which doesnt overly excite and the following is Phillip Island in Sept so going and having a practice weekend with PIARC sounds good to me.

Funky - Calder every Wed and Winton every Friday are open and don't need a CAMS. Just a helmet and ankle to wrist clothing.

And put it this way - if it wasnt for our 5 cars at Winton there would have been 3 others on the track. A quick HSV (hate to admit it but it was damn fast) some yellow thing and a super quick Ford Focus racing car.

impressive chris, 1.41 well done :D

Funky still worth getting your car out there mate, good to see what it can do, and handling would be more important than power on a track like winton.

the HSV wasn't THAT fast... aggressive driver, good rubber and it must of had handling work done on it, give me some sticky rubber, my handling kit and about another year or so to learn how to drive and i'll whoop it :P

as for the ford focus.....

i've hooked up my xbox to the logitech steering system... couple of hours of practice on it and i should be able to pick the best lines. then maybe a cameo appearance on the track to see what my can do... more for fun and curiosity than anything.

Are you the star in the Beemer with the panel damage? :) good one, you were so cool about it.

Guys and girls. if you are interested in a track day then just make sure everything is working good, especially brakes and come along. You don't need to have a setup that will challenge Jim Richards' Porka at targa. The first few times will just be learning anyway. Take it from someone who has spent a lot of time on the track in open wheelers and sports sedans. The faster you are going the less time there is to concentrate on actually learning to drive. As the pic says, It takes 2 balls (or the mental equivalent, Kel) and be prepared to have some fun. No-one, I repeat, no-one will take the piss if you are prepared to come and try so Just Do It.

Kami, what exactly is Wang stlye :)? Pm me. I spent some time in Wang myself years ago working. Definitely didn't touch any schoolies though.

    • @Butters I can't tell you why but the bigger HKS step 2 cams improved low and mid end immensely. Turbos started spooling about 1k RPM less than before and the idle/vacuum was rock solid, it was an absolute thrill to drive, 3rd gear pulls hit 180kmh where previously only managed 160. Conversely, the milder poncoms in there now have a funky idle making it harder to get off the line, drives poorly in lower revs, laggy and makes less power/torque throughout. Feels better after I swapped the EBC but unless I put it on the Dyno again, I can't say how much better.
    • Hi Sydney kid   do you still selling spring and blistein shocks for Nissan 260rs? Air any suspension upgrades? Please advice     yudy
    • Cams are not needed at this power level, they will create lag. The cam gears are a good idea though.
    • @Murray_Calavera yeah, I guessed as much, cooler temps, more boost, less knock, more timing, hello power. Unfortunately not quite within reach ATM, could upgrade my whole fuel system to support but still wouldn't have E85 to run it 😂  Anyway, I changed cams again, 260/260 poncam B and everything else the same except an EBC upgrade. Now I must say I was quite disappointed with the result as it was like running stock cams (didn't try to dial them in as they're supposed to be optimum already) but after awhile I suspected my new EBC was underperforming not to mention difficult to use. I recently swapped back my old EBC and it drives much better now, boost comes on sooner, more stable, no spikes etc, feels all quicker and faster than with stock cams. Planning to fiddle with the cam gears and see what happens but maybe skip the Dyno as I intend to revert to the HKS cams cos they really made the car come alive; low and mid end was unbelievable and it just wanted to rev to the moon, finally knew what people were raving about, RB26 really loves revs. Anyway, Dyno 03 is quite disappointing, in Dyno 02 although peak power was less and trailed off at the top, the low and mid end improvement more than made up for it.
