Done two heater hoses now, been lucky both times to only happen as I was getting home and losing very minor amounts of coolant.

Looking to get all done now to put my mind at ease, trying to get up behind the starter motor is an absolute nightmare.

Gday Fellas

There has been alot happening in my life so the GTR has been on the back burner

A mate invited me over to Sydney to help out with Motive DVD GTR drag battle and I have to say what an experience. Got to visit some cool performance shops and meet some really switched on owners/tuners

CRD, JEM, Micks Motorsport, Motor Sports Mechanical and Maatouks racing to name a few. Everyone is unique in how they do things with the GTRs but wow..... the smack talk..... that was probably the best part hahahahaha

I was lucky enough to meet and be able to spend a large amount of my time with Kyle from 1320videos

We both spent alot of time getting ourselves lost trying to find workshops and site seeing hahahaha

On the first day there I managed to get us lost around the north rocks area after trying to find some food and a phone shop for Kyle lol

When I returned to Perth Andrew from Motive DVD invited me to the V8 supercars to help out with the drifting side of things. That was alot of fun and I managed to meet some more amazing people

Another great opportunity was being able to show the East Coast crew what the West Coast is all about I brought 6 copies of my good friends Magazine across for the guys to check out the name of the magazine is FORGED. This mag has a diverse range of vehicles from American muscle, JDM, Aussie muscle and motorcycles. Its a very well presented mag and if anyone is interested I can organize some copies ☺

Hi Frostyboy,

I just ended up buying exactly the same suspension kit from Fulcrum. Thanks for letting me know.

They did not give me quite as good a deal as you got though.

Looking forward to installation, both yours and mine. It will be great to get some feedback from you once fitted

Cheers

Matt

Thats awesome mate when are you planning on fitting them up?

Righto Fellas

I'm thinking about selling the -5 turbos and going for a single setup I'm after some advice suggestions for turbo selection

I want the car to be an all rounder but I would like it to have some serious straight line speed.... I know it will make it harder to drive on a race track but for me I need that feeling of acceleration and speed

Hey Brad,

The drag orientated GTRs can certainly tempt you to chase more POWER. I was at the GTR fest in Sydney and liked what I saw on the drag strip.

Regarding suspension, I might actually end up going with BC racing Coilovers.

Well I wanted to purchase a turbo kit that would see me onto the high Nines however there was just nothing in my budget

I found a nice 2nd hand kit in Sydney that will be suited to my needs for the time being and fitted into my budget [emoji7]

A Precision 6262 on a spoton fabricated T4 split pulse manifold turbo smart wastegate and less than 2000kms on kit

Hopefully it was a wise decision to go 2nd hand

Well not good news this happened

Cooling system is completely sludged with engine oil

There is no water in the engine oil

The cooling system isn't pressurising and the oil cooler isn't bypassing either

I'm thinking cracked block

    • I drive the Tiguan much harder than the Skyline in all conditions, because it just grips and hooks, unlike the R33 shit box
    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
