Brother, nope, I've watched a "documentary" that proves otherwise

Not specifically the revamp Toyos.

In the past I've used Nitto NT01s, which were essentially the same compound as R888 with a different pattern (that's what the internetz said, so just be facts). I did like the NT01, progressive fade, didn't go from grip to 0 grip in a split second.

If you look at the serious street/track guys, most are either on Cup 2, A052, A050, AD09, CR-S or AR-1.

Go the CRS, cheaper than the A052 and same if not better 1 lap performance when suspension is dialled for it. If wanting to do back to back laps the A052 and can cool off and go again next lap will be the better option.
I have gone quicker over 1 lap with CRS than the A050 I came from but may be due to getting more seat time.

I am driving CRS on the street lately in different conditions and its going well, a lot better than AR1 in the wet.

MMM ok,

I see a bit of praise for RE003s, but CR-S sounding like a better option, seems Nankang wants those to replace the AR-1

AR1 is a race tyre, CRS is a Hill Climb/time attack/Sprint tyre. 2 different things, a slick is on the way too.

The mighty gay mods choice of tyre is proper rubbish for those that actually drive on track not park at bunnings at night.

CR-S decent "budget" option, but still a grand+ for tyres.

No idea what they're like in the wet though.

probably around the $1700-1800 fitted in his sizes.
The ar1 is heaps cheaper.

Get on scumplace I got some A052 295/35/18 for $400 that had done maybe 20-25 hot laps of SMP.

People are going faster on CRS than AR1, so there's that 😕

But to be fair, I think people have gone faster on Bob Jane All Rounders than AR1's; particularly if it's wet.

I managed to win under 2L turbo/4L NA class championship in our club with a single set of AR1s, including several wet rounds, and they were still getting faster end of the season 0_0

For $800 in 255/17 I was very pleased (7yrs ago so adjust for inflation)

Merry Clitmas you dirty cnuts.

24 hours ish in the sous vide at 50°C, then finished it off in the pizza oven at 500°C. Internal temp peaked about 56°C, albeit a bit higher than I wanted however still butter soft.

Don't ever let the mother in law out cook you at family events.

Yes, that plate was bought in Ischia, Italy.

I still get shit from my wife for this photo because it is the happiest she has ever seen me. And it's not with her, it's in someone else's car. :D  Quang's EVO is sick, but that rotary wagon flying past was absolutely bonkers.

Hahah look at that smile 😂

Just like those ones on IG where they compare the husband in family photos vs husband going fishing lol.

I don't think I'll participate this time, clutch isn't in and also the last time I went there were too many numpties on the cruise sessions. Nearly caused a few accidents holding up people and a few guys initiating massive kerb to kerb drifts with heaps of cars right behind them. Not to mention, there were guys on the track session using it as a power cruise session.

    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
    • Yeah, I would have said the same. It makes me suggest that there are other things wrong, such that the ECU is totally unhappy with the broken sensor. The only other thought here is that maybe it is shorted, which might cause a different issue to the typical "disconnected" sensor.
    • The fact that US/JDM plates actually fit the skyline bumpers properly is a big, big thing for me as they are the correct dimensions. Annoyingly you can't opt for a normal plate (or plate combination) in that size. You have to make up your own one, and at that point you'd still know it wasn't randomly assigned.
    • Well, really, that's any ECU, because it's not so much the ECU that the tuner connects to, but a laptop that's connected to the ECU. You have to have the tuning software installed locally. The "remote" part is essentially just remote desktop (RDP) or VNC type access. Nevertheless, if you're looking to upgrade, then you're immediately in the Haltech/Link territory, both of which can be done by any number of competent tuners here in Oz. But without a dyno, you'll definitely also need a wideband O2 sensor fitted, and you'll probably be relying on "auto" tuning a bit, where you drive it around under various loads and then apply the corrections that the ECU learns (basically applying the fuel trims that the ECU has to do to correct the mixtures). Tuning the timing is a little harder. It can be difficult to trust the old OEM knock sensors on RBs, so it is definitely best to have someone who knows what they're listening for, with knock ears (a piezo microphone connected to the engine, and and little amp and headphones so the listener can hear the angry men with hammers who live in the engine). That is more difficult to do remotely, and I suspect the only sane way is to be quite conservative on timing. But that's OK. You're probably waaaaay better off with conservative timing where you are. What is the fuel situation? 98RON available? Or low grade jungle juice?
    • I see your point, I didn't think too deep into it, was purely focused on the price. There's no bad blood between myself and GSM, they acknowledged the price was cheaper else where and at the time couldn't match it.
