Disclaimer, I don't excuse myself for my behavior.

I'll split this up into two parts, Before kids and after kids. Cause that's what'll stop you building kiddos. Children. You like cars? Unless you are swimming in cash; WEAR A f**kING CONDOM.
(My 4 children are my blessing, I wouldn't have it any way; Just giving real advice)

So a good half a decade or probably more, I purchased an R34 GTT. Always been a S chassis boy prior, Wanted to do a big power SR20 skidder with an RB box behind it...Till I drove a big power SR. They ain't exactly fun, So can only get so much out of 2.0L and 4 cylinders before it becomes a shit car to drive. Then thought about RB converting my 180 at the time, Put the pen to paper and decided the wiser move would be to just buy a Skyline. At the time, Japanese cars were still cheap and Tracy Grimshaw's head didn't have so much girth. (What a mad word.)

So I bought an R34 GTT. Seemed like the right choice at the time for someone who wanted a big power skidder.

Motor was healthy with perfect comp, Cleaned it up and sent it for a nistune with Toshi. During the process we found the car had a Link G4 ECU; Winning! She made a healthy 190RWKW with the standard snail on 98. Can't remember the boost guys, But don't bother doing this with a standard OP6 turbo; It'll shatter as I found out laying a good 2nd for the boys, Cause you DDTB nomsayin?

So after the f**k about on that, I got motivated to build that drift car. Kept it real simple;

- 1000cc Injectors, Kinugawa TD06 W a Garret 60-1, Walbro 460 In-tank pump and E85. Got Mick's Motorspot involved for the tune. She made 310RWKW like a baws.

I through on a full adjustable steering kit and sat the car on some Blitz ZZR coilovers. I have purchased pretty much all coil overs for my vehicles over the years; For the couple extra quid; Get the Blitz ZZR's. They ride perfect in every way I want. Soft, But not too soft. Firm enough to feel the road. Good travel and handles well when the car's weight is shifted around suddenly.

Got some basic aesthetics for the car. Remember kids, OEM+ wins. (Phone camera's also got good).

First off. I know. I fuggin know. Dat seat height. I'm a big boy.

This thing was a blast to drive, I can't remember what year it was but I was going to try taking my drifting more seriously (Yes. I was going to skid this thing. How f**king insane is income when you don't have children) but then the head lifted from my go happy right foot and the missus pregnancy test showed positive... Which contrary to what I initially thought; Positive does not mean all good.

What a shit time for something like this to happen! I'll never get the car done!

And so she got put into the shed (Considered selling a few times but couldn't) and our friend Tracy... Well she got kinda popular among us. The police started to bully us. Defect stations were everywhere. Every "Mitsubishi WRX" was on today tonight getting defected.

Now I am not saying that I am directly responsible for Sydney's lock-out laws, But last time you could have a good night at The Cross with bag'n'the boys; This car was running. Co-incidence? I think not.

So you see, About a year or two moved on. My daughter got to the point where my attention wasn't need. So I went to the garage (New house as you can tell by my downgraded gary), De-dusted the old gal and got to work. Motor out time.

13427981_10153695226821527_8576156109194578042_n.jpg.b281671a97e527e78dd28315b84b0d6d.jpg

Now I was going to keep it simple stupid and bought a ebay intake, manifold and slap a mamba GTX3076R on it for retune with a new head gasket and studs. Got it all and hell; Mock fitted it.14917068_10154056389896527_6820329765622381763_o.thumb.jpg.b094c9785a0484620fb6cf3f544bfda5.jpg

You see. The thing about Vagina's is that if you bust a nut in them and the conditions are right; She's going to end up the duff.

But you probably knew that already I guess. And so everything got thrown back in the garage for another few years.

Fast forward to about 2 months ago, Something mentally snapped in me. Decided to sell some toys I had to make what I wanted out of this car; A 450RWKW joke that won't die so easily. Had to let go of some nice shit to make it happen; Multiple motor bikes, cars and other various man toys I got over the years. So where are we right now? Well I got a little helper this time ordering overnight parts from Japan;

back.thumb.jpg.4b53cf82502abcddf797ede183e1a7e6.jpg

First thing, I'm sure you've noticed I keep going Mamba turbos. I've been an avid supporter of Eiji Takada and his products since the early days of Kinugawa. I truly believe that for the dollar you pay; There's no better. So I consulted my old homeboy Eiji who doesn't understand any of my jigaboo and saw that he was pumping something limited edition to the specification I was looking, Behold the Mamba GTX3582R 7+7 Arakaki Special;

38423259_10155756404966527_5425375943545847808_n.thumb.jpg.7735462470f67801f0c62110ce964df2.jpg

If it dies or doesn't make the goal; I'll just get the Garret. YOLO is still a thing right?

Went and got; CP 86.5mm pistons, Spool rods, Tomei Procam type B cams and all the other jazzy-fizzle to slap a motor together. I gave it all to Mick @ Micks Motorsport and said enjoy your Lego set brother. Call me when it's done....

It still not done.

39242394_318008615610114_3967792329661612032_n.thumb.jpg.7ab64df899cdc61a0c9286213e390cfc.jpg

But I got myself a billet intake manifold, twin plate ceramic clutch, 2200cc injectors, 2x 044's and a surge tank, Tomei FPR, Some SSR sp1's that fit the guard better, Some east bear copy bar, 6boost manifold, 45mm Progate etc etc to wait for my motor to come back and I can slap it all together;

I am still waiting delivery of a lot of stuff but shout out to Phil and Robbo @ Cartel Australia who have been running around chasing parts for me!

I have to ask, what wheels and size are those? The original ones. The ones you were replacing. The OEM+ look you're referencing looks really nice.

From experience, 450rwkw + reliable is uh.... it's going to be a tough ask depending on what you refer to as 'reliable'. Consider selling a child or two or maybe a house to get there.

I Share your sentiments on the kids thing. Income suffers! Wouldn’t change a thing either.

I sold my GTR to fund ‘life’ things.... so it’s great to see you hung on to the dream!

Love to see how you progress.

18x9.5 +12, You will not get this to fit decently without adjustable camber arms and hire a really good guard roller, Not just some kid with an ebay kit or ye good ol' 2" bar.

Anything can be mechanically reliable if you're mechanically sympathetic enough. Not to say this is more forte; I am not a kind person to anything with a motor. But I am hoping the financial investment will force me to show some self restraint.

Did you get yourself anything else yet?

Lol.. Story of every married man and his Skyline ?

Loving the build, and yes 450kW and reliable is possible. Just make sure you don't get a potato to build your motor.

It's good to know the struggle is shared!

I honestly believe I could have done it myself and saved a lot more pocket, But with so many distractions etc and how much everything is costing, I didn't want any error. I left it in the hands of Mick @ Mick's Motorsport, He's old school but I've seen him build countless RBs, He tuned the car previously and has an understanding of how abusive I can be to a motor. I trust him to do better than I could.

Good job holding onto this beast, looks pretty sick especially with sunroof..

You say 450kw.. i think of atleast an RB30 or a 3.4 stroker ??

Considered it, But decided that I'll just work with what I had as I knew the condition of the motor. But now days (Especially with everyone's super "happy" dyno's) every other RB is cranking 400kw.

In the end it is just a number, It really comes down to how it drives and that'll matter more than anything.

Doesn't mean if I stumble across a 30 bottom end, I won't pick up and let that sit for if I every get some more freedom!

Yeah, I ended up getting a ‘33 boat for simpler maintenance. Track days are still a stretch in a family situation. The motorkhana events are good value and more family friendly.

Signed off for some parts from Japan. (Never grow up gentlemen)

Was told nismo dashes are discontinued and stock was only what's on shelf (<10), A fresh 0km 300kmh speedo would be fitting for new motor. So I bit the bullet.

And a eternal wait for what is probably one of my favorite parts of the car, Always wanted one but could never justify the price. Nengun had them on special so I jumped on it (It feels solid, chunky, heavy and amazing);

Not much of an update.

Still waiting on the motor. With coota etc my motor got put on the back burner. Not too happy about it but good things take time.

Gauges came in though! Sorry but not genuine. The money they ask for gauges is ludicrous. You can buy a whole f**king ECU for the price of 3x Genuine gauges of any major make.

When buying fake gauges generally don't go for the really cheap ones, Pay a little more and you'll get something that looks much nicer and usually performs almost as good as genuine stuff (There isn't a lot of science behind gauges). I also rate "shadow pro" gauges for another good cheap alternative. I got these from Cartel @ $80 a pop.

IMG_20180924_174900.thumb.jpg.ce540418a0dccadd7b5794854383894e.jpg

They will go in the factory gauge holder.

Which I don't think is fitted factory.

I was doing the fuel setup the other day. Back there was a bunch of wires, two electronic modules of sorts (assuming hicas/abs) and a pair of double pronged antennas.

I reckon when I lift the gauge holder I may see the remnants of the a pop up display. If the screen is still in there I am going to take the RCA's to a notebook then output a HUD from the ECU to it. But I won't know this till I get a damn free weekend to do something.

So the landlawd (Why is it every time you time L O R D "son of rajab" shows up?) is selling up, Round about the time where I am just about to get my motor. f**k my life, Guess shes back on hold for a bit!

Going to move out west, Get some fresh air and get out of Sydney's hussle. Motor will go on a crate for a month or two while I sort all this shit out.

Well guys, I don't entirely know who to blame throughout this whole ordeal but I sure as hell won't be buying a 6boost again any time soon. Near 3 month wait when originally promised 2-4 weeks and it comes coated in the wrong colour.

This offset's my shit so hard it's not even fooking funny but I ordered everything else in black for a nice clean stealth look so this has to go back.

Going to order a Sinco, I see and hear good things.

Look at how haram this shit is...

Find out how much better of a deal you can get if you order 2x Sinco manifolds.

I'm after the T3 twin scroll, single 50mm gate for RB25 (you should go twin scroll too haha). 6 boost ones are nearly bullshit twin scroll. If you look carefully it's not split all the way to rhe gate.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
