Hey guys,

I've been thinking about something lately. I've been driving around in my r33 gtst for quite some time now and I ran into a very clean rx7 with only 100.000 km. Now I've been trying to figure out if it would be worth to trade my r33 for a stock rx7. The car is completely stock.

I was wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with driving a stock rx7 compared to a stage 1 r33 gtst?

What do you think? I mean in the end I'll be the one buying the car and everything but I'm just curious, has any of you ever driven the rx7 and if given the opportunity would you trade your r33 gtst?

I'm not entirely sure yet whether I wanna do this so I'm trying to find as much information on the car as possible.

Let me know what you guys think. :)

It's really an icon of the nineties but I've always been a bit scared because of the stories concerning the rotary engine.

Not what I would call reliable, or cheap to fix.

I did the Rotory thing years ago, IMO they are fine for a car that comes out every month or two, and you treat it nice, but if you use it regularly, and use it hard, headaches will ensue.

They also LOVE fuel

I've heard a lot of these stories but a lot of people also tell me that if you stick to premix it'll last a long time without issues. I'm actually thinking about keeping the car stock to lower the chances of running into issues.

@dyl33 What are some of the things that friend of yours ran into to make it so expensive? How much hp?

I'm not thinking about using this car as a daily as I haven't been using the skyline to daily either. During spring and summer I'll probably drive the car once a week or so. Hm I'm still not convinced...

I would get out of an R33 and into an S6/7/8 in a heartbeat.  Not for a daily of course, and as I daily my R32 there's no way in hell I'd do it.

A stock late RX7 is twice the car a grubby old R33 is, no matter how much money has been spent in the R33.  They drive (handle) way better.  There's almost no comparison.  The RX was designed from the outset to be a sports car.  The Skyline is (originally) a family sedan, tarted up by removing 2 doors.

A plus for the FD is it has aged well, even with those pop up headlights, much better than most 90's cars anyway, yes, I'm looking at you 33.

Post pics or the FD is a Hyundai Excel

The fd series of the rx7 would have to be one of the best looking cars to ever come out if japan,

Not the best looking, but certainly looks better than most in its era like the R32 GTR in my honest opinion.

this guy gives a great overview of a stock RX7, just turn english subtitles on

Wow thanks I like this video.

@Kinkstaah I agree the r33 looks really nice, that's one of the reasons why it was such a tough decision. However, the rx7 looks amazing as well.

@mlr Haha I will as soon as I get my hands on some high quality pics. The car just left Japan so it's going to take a while.

I like the r33 gtr as well but I've been wanting to drive the rx7 for a long time. All the stories about the rotary engine and the way it handles, I can't wait!

@Leroy Peterson I've decided to leave the car as it is.
