Sadly it's the way to sell things these days. It's all about the sizzle not the sausage.

Don't get me wrong I think it's a decent product, I just hate all the marketing bullshit. I suppose middle aged sceptical men are not their target market though. Surely it would be worth their while to fund a shop to do a back to back?

Because we've had many years/decades of playing with these turbo charged shit boxes and know what works and what doesn't work through trial and error or through others.

Also we don't adhere to flex culture.

So an opportunity to get one popped up and I bought in.

Not as impressed as I hoped to be(near 2k manifold remember) , it's got some weight and I will put on scales next to a 6boost soon to compare.

The small gate flange is insulting and whilst they say you can run a 50mm I expected the gate runner to be bigger.

Swapping the flange over is going to be a PITA.

The good stuff:

The facing on the head side is amazing I can see that being a good seal.

The overall finish is really really good.

Will be a long while before I fit this and as always remember I am not a mechanic, the above is an opinion of enthusiast :)

I tried to fit mine today, manifold drilling was miles out and will not fit. Woeful alignment, who knows what the ports will be like...

Waiting to hear from Artec next week.

🙄 seems to be a thing

Runners smaller that engine ports

Eject..

apparently fitment issues fixed in latest models am yet to see or hear though

It'll work - especially coz you not running big power I assume given rally ? just keep an eye on EMAP - they are a nice bit of gear just for that $ you want things to be 100% and also better than the competition

I got 'redirected' to tried and proven 6 boob but aiming for bigger power end

No love for Sinco?

I run a T3 twin scroll manifold, with both scrolls split to the gate flange/seat. Clears ABS too, with a 50mm gate.

No funny boost control issues, can go from 0.5 to 1.8 bar of boost with a 4 port valve.

If you look at 6 Boobs, their single gate "twin scroll" manifold, where the start of the bend for the wastegate mount, the division stops, thus you're not maximising the scavenging effects.

I heard from Artec today (after I emailed them again) and they were very apologetic and stated that the early manifolds had QC issues. They offered to pay the courier costs to them for rectification and return back to me. Their solution is to enlarge the holes, they assure me the port alignment is good. I said that I've got access to a mill and will just fix it myself and send them the bill, it'll be cheaper than the couriers anyway and not done with a die grinder.

I'll stick the inspection camera down there and see what the port interface is like.

Yep, I totally would have had a Sinco instead and they were my first choice but it was almost impossible to purchase anything from them. I called and emailed a few times and got no response. I'm not a fan of the WG integration on the 6Boost products, but they seem to make good power.

My fabricator is a full boffin and wants to make something but I don't have time for that.

I bought mine via a reseller and took a out a month to get here.

Most of these fab, one to two man teams are pretty shit house when it comes to eComm/marketing/business efficiency, etc.

They really need someone like me to come help them scale up haha.

I think that's true of many people within the automotive after market. Too busy working in the business to be working on the business.

If only small business owners understood business processes and were happy to pay for small business consultants I could make a living off that :D

It seems many small businesses are too afraid to spend money on productivity tools, a good example is trying to manage their jobs on crayons and scrap piece of paper.

Imagine they just spun up a free version of Trello and projected it onto a massive (yet cheap) LED/LCD screen mounted to the shop showing a kanban and every once in a while a screen saver previewing some p0rn hub the shop would increase their productivity within days.

So introduce Toyota Kanban system for lean manufacturing to a lean manufacturing business?

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
