Been having trouble looking for cams that would be good for a 20e and was wondering if I could use 20det cams in the 20e (yes I know it is SOHC just wondering :))

not planning on swapping the engine, just wanna have some fun with the 20e

I was wondering if I could use a single cam from the de in the 20e?

Since there are barely any performance 20e cams available

I'll keep it simple, the answer is no.

No, you cannot. As I said above. A twin cam engine has the lobes for the inlet valves on one cam and the lobes for the exhaust valves on the other cam. A single cam engine has all the lobes for all the valves on the same cam. There is absolutely no way to make this work going in either direction.

rather than worrying too much about cams, what are you trying to achieve and what sort of budget do you have?

you can potentially increase power 4-8% by a freeer flowing intake and exhaust for under $5k

Hmmm, I am somewhat out of money after doing what you have said above along with a few other mods and just looking for any solution where I can have better cams on the 20e 🥲

Sorry if I seem uneducated, I am fairly new to this 🙌🏼

Cams are unlikely to be a practical answer with no budget. You will need a custom cam ($1k) plus a tuned ECU ($1-2k) and still probably the intake and exhaust mods ($2-3k)

The unfortunate reality is that no budget to modify a non turbo car will result in no improvement (mostly likely outcome will be less power, rough running and bad fuel economy)

Add turbo, enjoy life. If not turbo, add supercharger. If not supercharger, add nitrous. Anything else will be a disappointment. Remember, the RB20E is a very small, very low torque engine designed to do one thing and one thing only. Which is to move cars from point A to point B at the lowest possible speed while minimising Japanese registration tax.

What bad luck, imma end it with these words "my engine blew a few minutes ago" imma 25 swap it when I have enough money 🥲🥲

Word of advice. If you're a younger gent, don't try to speed up the process by buying cheap ching chong meow ebay parts. Try and find the best bang for the buck and if it takes time, it takes time.

RB20's have creeped up in price a fair bit but would also be a cheaper option then an RB25. They are fine for 300-400whp. Cheers.

If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
