260tech - Big :thumbsup: for the data collection there - That is fantastic to have all of that on one post. I will have a chat to some people where i got the wheel alignment done, and see if there is a reason why i can't get to 0mm toe rear.

KiwiRS4T - You are right about the wandering! It's not massive, but a person used to a car would notice it. It just feels like the HiCas effect is more noticeable.

No worries Jezboosted. Found my own original alignment numbers from 2007 on the 49 page journey in an old post on here which should explain my current position regarding rear tyre wear. I will cut n paste below (un-edited) for this post.

My old post:

Seems my rear camber was set at a degree & a half negative left, positive right (maybe), definitely not SK's specs for the rear end. Having said that, i never had any dramas driving the wagon, it went where-ever I pointed it, no problem. It went GREAT in fact. :banana:

Back to reality.......Since I bought the "works" from SK with the primary objective of curing the rear tyre wear plus having some fun with the rest of the gear, (tax cheque came in handy) I have no doubt at all that I would have given my aligners a copy of the recommended alignment details, (as I have done this time round btw), probably with some authority & relish :devil: knowing me.

I obviously did not take any notice of the said resulting numbers at the time of paying the bill on my way outta there. Being a "country boy" down in the "big city" I just wanted my wagon back so I could get back in control. :miner:

Now after buying some fancy gear (tax cheque pending) to fix ongoing rear tyre abnormal wear I found that my team had not used the full adjustability available to them, see first pic.

Being an "old bast&%d" & not driving the beast much, it did take me a while to stuff the rear tyres (2007 ~ now) However, I thought I could reasonably expect to bugger them evenly? At least that was the plan.

Traction adjustment not needed unless you are going full batsh*t on the track. Which I am not but Ikeya recommend these links in their sales blurb. Save yer dough.

Can any one confirm that V35/350z coilovers are compatible with NM35 stageas?

Tein list different part numbers for 2wd and 4wd m35 models. Im unsure if this means they are different or just their part naming protocol.

Lads.. im overseas atm and cant look for myself so im just wondering if someone can confirm if a 1999 S2 Stagea w/ hicas and awd uses an “eyelet” or “fork” type rear lower strut?

I'm in the process of buying some BC VS Coilovers and need to confirm it.

Would anyone have any idea why the Tein S-Tech springs I fitted in my RS4S didn't actually lower the car noticeably? The front dropped maybe 10mm but the back didn't drop at all. The Tein front springs were about 1.5inches shorter than the stock spring and the backs were the same height. It is noticeably stiffer in the front though...

Are they supposed to? Have you changed your dampers/shocks? I have Tein springs but also changed to Nismo labelled Bilsteins at the same time and they determine my ride height.

If they are not meant to lower the car far, that could be normal.

Old, soft springs on a heavy car may already have sagged somewhat over the years.

In addition, new springs can take a couple of days or even a week to settle properly under the car's weight.

Or, as Bob said it could be a difference in their mounting as well.

I guess the question is whether you were after a look, or improved handling. If you just want it to look low and not handle cut a coil off the springs with an angle grider ;)

As for chopping off a coil or two, it had crossed my mind but I don't want to be that dodgy, I'm passed all that now haha. Plus they're a tapered spring.

I'm thinking I might take my standard springs to get reset 40-50mm lower then chuck them back in. Or just keep saving for BC's.

I'm pretty sure the Teins will be coming out and going up for sale soon tho.

I have just got a 96 C34 Stagea i beleive its a S1 and a mate of mine told me that the s13 shock and springs fit into the stagea?

Is this correct?

96 is a s1 and no it wont fit.

the fronts are gtr. rear is gtst if u have eyelets on the botom.

the tops of the rear is more like s15 than skyline.

just get stds ( coilovers that is lol ) there $1200 new and come with a 24 month warranty and also endorsed by Keiichi Tsuchiya

Developed an interesting light knock in my front end.

I noticed it after using the roof rails as a grab rail walking around in the garage, as you do.

So if I shake the car side to side I have a knock.

I havent noticed anything new driving but stupid semi-rural country roads and overly stiff coilovers make my car piss anyway.

No vibrations or any skatey braking.

It seems to be wheel well based, I have had my hand on both strut tops and not noticed movement.

I have tried to wriggle tie rods, caster rods and LCAs but nothing noticeable.

It had to get new caster rod bushes to get rego so i dont think its them.

Do the upper control arm bushes on these things go soggy?

I cant get under it and shake the car as my poor wife cant keep the momentum up....

By the way its a C34.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year. 
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
