Hey all and thanks heaps to anyone who replies with helpful and knowledgeable stuff....

I am looking to upgrade/replace my rotors (mainly) as I have been told mine may not pass a RWC inspection.

Basicly I would like to know if the rotors (and brakes) off an R32 GTR will bolt straight onto my R32 GTS4?

And if not, could you please suggest another model option that has been proven to work with a simple switch-a-roo...

Cheers :-)

EDIT: I should also mention I have R33 gtst rims on the car, if that could affect the new rotor or brake size with clearance and whatever :)

Buy a set of R32 GTR calipers and get soem DBA4000 rotors. The GTR rotors you buy with the calipers will want to be in good condition to warrant putting on your car as they will be just as old, possible travelled as many kms, with possibly more spirted driving, and are cross drilled so have been known to crack.

But with the R32 GTR sized rotor and caliper it will be a bolt on upgrade for the front. Dont bother with the rears though, well thats my opinion anyway.

A better buy if you can find them at a reasonable price would be a set of R34GTT brakes. larger 310mm rotor vs 296mm, newer caliper and rotor etc, and 99% sure they are still bolt on. (That last 1% is because i have not done it personally so would still recommend checking im not talking out my a55 before spending you dough:))

Don't worry too much about the calipers. The GT-R rotors tend to crack around the cross-drilled holes, and they really don't contribute that much extra to braking efficiency.

Just get some DBA slotted rotors. (@ www.dba.com.au)

My view on R32GTR brakes is that they don't pull up consistently at the end of a straight after 3 laps on a 35 degree day...

That's because you go round the corners too slow. :matrix:

I agree with Roy if you have the money to spend. Seriously though save your money on the cost of a new set of set of calipers. The skyline ones really arent that bad because you'll be forking out big bucks for a different set of calipers. Just go with the DBA's roy suggested above.

Why exactly are you replacing your discs?

Thanks for all the replies guys, keep 'em comming! :-)

I need to do this to get a RWC I am told, my mate thinks (90% positive) my rotors are undersize and need replacing, so I am trying to find a decent replacement which it also low cost....

When you mate says ur rotors are undersize, he means they are too tin, not too small in diameter. So why not just get standard sized DBA4000 rotors? They would be a great upgrade and be a lot cheaper than buying slightly better calipers and new rotors. Maybe even get slotted ones?

Thanks xRHETTx, I will look into those DBA4000 rotors, I just hope they will be cheap as I am a poor uni student....

Yeah I thought "undersize" meant too small diameter, but he soon clued me into the proper meaning....:-P

I was also actually looking into rotors off another skyline, say an R33 as there would be plenty of these around that are not running ie wrecking...but I am not sure what models will be a straight swap onto an R32 GTS4.....

The R32 GTR front rotors for the dba 4000 series are 4926.

However, that's for the gtr made between 6/89 - 8/93.

Between 8/93 and 12/94, they are 4928 becasue they had 324mm diameter rotors.

As for rotors for the gts4, i'd recommend getting dba 4000 series to suit the r32.

The part numbers are: 4909 for the fronts, 4908 for the rears. They are both slotted as the part numbers should also have either SL or SR on each (slotted left, slotted right).

That's what i'll be getting anyway for the gts4.

As for the price, I was quoted over $900 for the whole set though!!! So, i guess it would be even more expensive for say the gtr brakes as they are bigger! But keep in mind that's the retail price :Pimp2:

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
