Ladies and gentlemen.

I am building a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude.

On Saturday November 19th - we will be running our second competition motorkhana event at DECA in Shepparton... and we need your help.

As your Chief Event Steward, I need a total of about 20 officials for various tasks throughout the day. Car marshals, time keepers, starters, recorders, media (video and still photos) etc

You will need to be in Shepparton at 8.30am on Saturday morning (a convoy will be leaving Melbourne at 6.00am - feel free to head up on Friday though) to report for an officials breifing. This is a key responsibility for the event, as without your help - there is no motorkhana.

As officials you will be treated with extreme reverence and respect.

What you say - goes.

Please note the accomodation thread if you wish to stay over for Saturday night:

You have our gratitude

James

do i have to be like qualified or anything like that? I can take ok photos...not a photographer so not familar with light settings on cameras and all that jazz but i can aim the camera and get the car in the middle and what not...

could do the video i rekin, i could do that better than photos probably.

time keeping sounds easy enough...as long as im where the action is and not tucked away in some shed lol

would be a good way to make my way into the SAU world, SAU Vic in particular which ill be signing up for shortly.

would probably try to get a ride with someone, so yeah...its only a maybe but just expressing an interest :P

You need no qualifications.

Just listen to what James tell you to do.

James - i can do rest breaks for officials when im not having the BBQ firing hard.

I'll also need at least one person to gimme a hand for that... i had 2 last time and that worked well :P

I'll do still photo.

wanna use mine as well? that way u dont have to switch between the zoom and 18-55mm lens and i'll bring the laptop so u can go nuts and take thousands of shots :P

i'm pretty sure i dont have anything on that weekend so i will bring a couple of video cameras for some filming. I dont think my camera mounts will be here in time so if anyone has some internal and external mounts for cameras could be good.

lmao for 900 it better stick on pretty bloody good

the ones i was ordering were like 70 for one tripple suction mount... 50 for the headrest type and another 50 for a window mount.

they'll do the trick for a hobby.

was it a stickypod?

they'd be good for the interior footage

the headrest mounts would be a bit awkward because most cars would have bucket seats

Might be a daft question but can drivers do anything between driving or is there something for drivers at all points during the day i.e different courses?

If drivers can help, let me know, happy to lend a hand.

EDITED: Drivers can't be volunteers, sorry guys, the thought was there

$900 for an external mount??

Sheez!

I bought mine for $98 and I'll be using it all day inside and outside of as many cars as possible (although maybe only outside mine because I'm not 100% confident in it just yet. LOL)

I have taken it for some test drives and it works great so far. But DECA will be the real test.

But for everyone that can come up and help you'll be in the prime spots for when we need you. Free lunch and drinks included for helpers as well.

    • How much have you lowered?  I had 350Z springs in the rear and was able to pull the camber into factory spec with the factory arms on the rear, obviously the front ran negative camber as it isn't adjustable, but rotating the wheels regularly evened out the wear.
    • Either the installer needs to come back, you need an auto electrician, or you need to learn automotive electricals yourself.   First step Id look at is where that big thing came out of, is there still things unplugged at that location? Maybe they just forgot to put a relay in or something?
    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
