Is there any truth to the claim most 89/90 cars are rusting out? I wouldn't imagine any more instances than with same age R32's, but talking to importers/compliance workshops they seem to be overrepresented when rust and breakdowns are concerned.

That said, I'd love an auto 2 leather seater TT. It'd be a great daily. Just look after the motor, no silly hp attempts, and it'd be great. Probably get my vote over a 91 Soarer GT-LTD too.

What would John from Unique say if he heard you talking about him like that?

he loves it. it get's him all fired up to bag GTRs, then it's nap time. hehe.

Behold, this is the best way to approach a 300zx

Rofl

Having quite a few mates owning 300zx's and being fairly active in 300zx repairing and maintanence.

Just dont buy a lemon.

Most of them have no problems.

Still, buy a skyline instead.

Just some facts having owned one myself, turbo's can be swapped without the engine being taken out if u have a hoist (disco Garrett disco potatoe's bolt straight on) but you will max out injector at around 18psi which makes it expencive getting some good injectors I had blitz 880's which were $1300. Internals are strong as are the gearboxes and diff's R200 diff and box is the same one used in the r33's, the breaks are good even better with some slotter slightly bigger rotors on there and if you do the exhaust (twin system) you'll be laughing.

The intake plenum is good for quite some HP but you can do a single plenum aka z33 topsecret style and go big single TB (90mm) the stock brick intercoolers are also pretty decent but you might want to do a nice front mount if you want one.

But having said all this I'm now in a 32 but would like to get another 300zx for cruising, not huge numbers or anything like that just a daily driver that can handle a good squirt every now and then.

I was thinking about getting a 300ZXTT.

Something I was going to factor into the purchase though was spending about 5 k - pulling out the engine myself - doing turbos, intercooler, injectors, clutch, heater hoses etc.

As far as I know the computer can be reprogrammed. If not do a PFC. Would be a weapon and I love the look of them. I think better than the r33 even - got that exotic look - very sexy car and a lot have nice leather interiors. Don't need to get the wheels perfect either - I find it hard to get a perfect wheel/tyre combo for a '33

Cheers

A mate's got a Z32 tt, goes like a bullet when you mash the go pedal, but when it came to corners, compared to a R33 Gtst and a WRX that were with us, he had to brake much eariier and take the corner much slower.

That said, I love the cockpit, very spaceship like, and was a much better looking car than the R33 and the rex.

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
