  1. Looks very good, I’ll have to put it next to my actual one to see how close it is. These ones are laser cut so supposed to be better then the previous ones he was doing.
  2. Well the spending continues as I travel further down the rabbit hole! decided I’m doing the entire front end, so both left and right sides are coming out, getting new hubs, new bearings, new bushes, anything I can’t replace with be blasted coated before being re-fitted. At the moment I’m trying to get the wiper motor referbished, I have sourced a new one, but it will cost me around $700 so I’ll try to get mine looking good enough to be present in my engine bay 🤣 Brett, I got my studs, we’re both same size so won’t work with factory plenum, I’m talking to John and working with him to make a set to suit factory plenum. I’ll let you know how it goes. also I bought a rear genuine Nismo tower brace to match my Nismo front tower brace, just got to decide what colour to get them coated. also can’t decide what to do with the AC compressor and alternator. Thinking ill paint the alternator black and maybe see if I can get the ac condenser cleaned. ive decided I’m getting a custom power steer reservoir with an fittings and custom braided lines, will also be running a power steer cooler and fuel cooler. here is a few parts I’ve had cleaned, the clear coated myself, did the ac condenser myself. Turned out nice And yes got a new build plate from FPG.
  3. Does this count as Euro? My new daily, it’s got a Renault motor! Lol Just fitted a Pro Vent catch can and Plazmaman, cooler and pipe kit as well as Plazmaman intake pipe. Next is turbo back exhaust, then off to Jez for a remap. 👍🏼
  4. Do this, then paint bay, any painter can paint back to factory spec if that’s what you’re after.
  5. I would hope this has been done considering OP was in 2009! Lol
  6. I remember not that long ago this topic coming up on a GTR page on FB. Herman stated that a block brace is essential for any serious build. Then Anthony Maatouk chimed in and stated he has never used a block brace on a 26 block, however all his builds use an N1 block, claimed over 150 builds and not one block crack, tagged numerous customers to confirm, cars that have been running for years. Now he also stated he is not against the brace and uses them in all of his RB30 builds. Just his opinion is they are not required in an N1 block. Now this sparked a lot of back and fourth between Maatouk and Herman. Was all very interesting to hear both sides of the argument. Herman stating he has seen numerous N1 blocks crack and Maatouk stating it was likely other factors that caused that, (pointing towards bad tune). from a more personal point a mate of mine has a Maatouk’s built 2.7, running a 76/75 making 1000+ hp, been running for about 3 years now without issue. (Not braced).
  7. Haven’t received them yet, I’ll let you know when they come. Also, if they are the same, will they work on the inlet side?
  8. Oh, all good, yeah meant 2.6 block, motor is a 2.7. Can’t believe how many little things there are to do, just don’t want to miss anything while everything is apart. Currently getting the sump, cleaned, painted and clear coated, boosted getting done, clutch master getting replaced with new, brake master is new, going to get the wiper motor cleaned/soda blasted? I’m not sure, but what ever it takes to make it look new. On Tuesday I’ll be chasing around trying to get all the engine bay nuts and bolts either replaced with new or what I can’t get replaced will get zink coated. Got titanium stud kits for hotside, cold side and cam covers. brand new genuine bolt kit for valley cover and front timing cover, new backing plate, new dipstick and tube, new blinkers, intercooler, radiator and lights. Under the car got billet fuel line brackets, all the heat shields are off to get custom ceramic coated in a matte silver, just trying to source new bolts. and I haven’t even started the rear subframe 🤔🤪
  9. Car had a 30/26, is now getting a 2.7
  10. The radium stuff is good but I’d go Frenchies, I had a radium surge tank, no issues other then I had to replace the loom plug as the clip that retained it broke, but I believe the new ones use a metal fastener now. but the Frenchies stuff would be much better for what most of us would use the cars for.
  11. It’s at the painters now not sure when it’s going to be painted, I’m waiting for a dolly so I can get the subframe out so I can get it blasted and coated as well
  12. Well, I’m going back to a 2.6 based motor, just in the process of getting everything together, things getting re-furbished, coated or replaced with new where I can. Car is at the painters now, decided to paint the bay the colour of the car. Also sold my hotside so it’s being replaced with a 6 boost manifold and 68/75 turbo. I’ll also be running egt’s and getting a new engine harness . But one thing at a time 🤔
  13. I bought the same ones, got inlet and exhaust side. This is mine now
  14. Cheers, it’s been a long road, with many ups and downs. Hopefully at some point I’ll get it to where I want it.
  15. Well this never ending build is finally moving forward. Car is going to the shop after GTR festival to have the motor removed, then it’s off to get the bay painted, then the new 2.7 stroker motor is going in. I’m also replacing the cooler to a Plazmaman 100mm comp spec and the entire hot side. Going a 6boost manifold with egt bungs for each cylinder and new turbo will be a Precession 6875. And while I’m there Pro wire will be making me a new custom engine loom and cleaning up all the other wiring in the bay. after this I’d like to think the bay is finished? If there is such a work in the GTR world 🤔
  16. My 2c, stick with the Albins, stay on top of your supplier and roast them for the delay, but wait it out. I know a few boys now running the Albins and all are very happy with them. Think of it like this, it would be a GTR if it didn’t give you stress!
  17. Look forward to seeing what you do with it, you going to paint it? Or leave it white?
  18. Had a chat with the guy from Garrett turbos yesterday about turbo options, he recommended the G30 900hp or G35 900, said they would offer good response and solid top end, another option is the G35 1050hp, this turbo is to supersede the 3584rs and will be released in a T4 divided rear housing option in the 1st quarter of 2021.
  19. This is what I’m thinking, but I’m also not a Precesion fan boy, so I’d like to know all my options, I’ve heard good things about the Garrett 3584rs, mixed reviews on the new G series, good things about Borg Warner, I’ve also looked at Xona rotor?
  20. So there would be no reason to go 6875 over 6870? this is what I’m trying to find out, I’d like to actually talk to someone who is really switched on with turbos and not tied to any one brand. When I sell my motor I’ll probably let it go with the entire hot side. As my new motor is a 2.7, I’d like a turbo that is responsive, but can still make decent power and give a decent push when turned up.
  21. My rb30/26 was built using supertech pistons, was done a while ago, motor did around 50k making 350kw and 5k making 500kw. Had a health check done on the motor this week and came back perfect. Motor has little to no blow by and is insanely strong. Even on E85 I never got any noticeable contamination in the oil. And supertech rate them to 800hp I believe
  22. My thoughts are this, and I’m still torn here. But you wouldn’t get a Hakosuka GTR and pull the engine out (it has been described as the laggiest NA motor ever produced) and drop an SR20 into it, then say, it drives much better. this would probably be true, but you’d be missing the point. Now, I’m not saying our cars are at that same level, but I believe they are going in that direction. So I’d like to try to get my car when I want it, while it is still somewhat affordable (should have done it a couple of years ago) lol At this point, I’m even considering putting a getrag in it, over a sequential. but we’ll see where things go. As Piggaz said, they are a big heavy bucket of shit! but isn’t that why we love them, Clarkson said, it’s the flaws and imperfections in a car that we bond to. If it was perfect, it would be boring.
  23. So what about 2.7?
  24. Depend on what stroker kit you use
  25. And have HICAS and ITB’s etc, for me it’s a juggling match, I want to build the car and retain as many ‘factory’ features as I can, but I want 500kw so there will obviously need to be some sacrifices made. Off topic, but another area of the car that’s got my head spinning is brakes, mine is currently fitted with V-spec brembo’s. I like this as they were a factory fitted item, but I’m so tempted to put the new Alpha Amega brembo kit that someone posted here. Interior, I have recaros fitted currently but have purchased genuine R32 seats, the interior will be getting a full makeover and I’ll be going back to factory colours but use more modern/ better quality materials.
