  1. Great build mate, it’s come a long way, I think you are just around the corner from me, I live in Harrington park, we should organise a drive one day, if both cars are ever running at the same time ?? Also, I’d love to pick your brain on a few things, seems our builds are similar. Mine lifted the head a while ago, got it sorted now but the build has kind of run away from me and is doing what it likes, I just pay the bills ?
  2. Well, what started as a basic tidy up has gotten a little out of hand, I’ve decided to build a complete rear end. I just bought a second hand one so I’ll be building/preparing this one to go into the car, complete. I’ll be getting it blasted and re-coated, I bought a GKTECH subframe reinforcement kit, I sourced a diff housing and I got my hands on a brand new ring and pinion gear, I got a set of 31 spline half shafts and will be fitting a quaife centre and Greddy extended hat. I do currently have Hardrace arms fitted to the car, I’ll might re use these. I bought new hubs and will be reconditioning my drive shafts. now what I want to know, 1. do I stick with the hard race arms? what other options do I have and what benefit will I gain for $$ spent? 2. What bush’s Should I use, what is good? 3. I want to fit a good quantity hicas lockout/elimination kit. Hicas has been removed from my car and it’s fitted with a lock out bar. I want to get rid of the hicas rack altogether. What is the best kit on the market? Now, the car is being put together, with the end goal being a solid, competent street car, that can handle a drive day. So in regards to bush’s, I’ll probably be steering clear of solid, I’m considering oem or I know there are after market hardened rubber bush’s, I’m not sure about poly? The hard race arms I bought were all the Bush type, not pillow ball. Hit me with your knowledge people
  3. Car looks amazing, well done, it’s the little things that make it, the series 3 lights, 34 wheel etc, just set it off, beautiful car. The Precesion 64/66 is a popular turbo, might be a little lazy with stock compression motor but will make 400-450kw on a lower boost setting, then when you’re ready and build the bottom end, you can turn it up, that turbo will be good for 550kw ATW. Just be mindful that you’ll be past the limits of the stock box, so if you beat on it too much you’ll end up with a noisy or broken gearbox. and the can of worms has been cracked open ?
  4. That’s not going to be easy, try Z1 motorsports in the states, they can sometimes get their hands on rare parts. another option is Tomei do a front and rear gearset which is to help with response, I think it’s 3.9 but it’s quite expensive
  5. Check out Hypertune’s Facebook page, they have photos on there of the Albins in an R32
  6. What your mechanic is telling you is the general consensus. My experience was, 1st box started getting noisy, probably similar to yours at 350kw, then I upgraded to single turbo and changed boxes, put in a rebuilt second hand box. Car made 500ish kw, box lasted two weeks before it started making noises. Was perfect to begin with. Ended up whining quite bad
  7. No Steve, it’s such a bitch, when I got to the mechanics, it f**ken started! But the surge tank was empty so he thinks the lift pump might be on its was out. He will check the logging today to see what happened
  8. Don’t you just love when this happens! It was my fault, I shouldn’t carry cash in my wallet, the car can smell it! looks like the lift pump died, at least it was on the way to the mechanic ? shout out to Mick from Micks Towing, you’re a lifesaver, top bloke, great service and fair price.
  9. Haha, sounds like something I would like. in regards to displaying on the stereo screen. I was curious if I could set something up to have 3 digital displays on the screen, as a ‘throwback’ to the factory layout of the interior, it wasn’t a deal breaker (obviously) and it doesn’t really bother me, I’ve got plans with the dash layout to be a modern improved version of the factory layout.
  10. Stereo is finally finished, speakers were a nightmare. The Hertz didn’t fit, ended up getting a pair of Kenwood, I’m very happy with the sound quality. Also I tidied up the install of the head unit and filled some small gaps. Overall i think it looks good and nothing was cut. now time to just relax and enjoy the rest of my Sunday
  11. Yes, I asked the boys at powertune if it could be done through the motec, unfortunately it can’t, the dash has an input but no output, I’ve gone double din as I did not want analog gauges next to a digital dash, I’ll be keeping the old set up and I’ve still got the original triple gauge cluster. I’ve got a design in my head of what I want from the motec dash, just hope it can be done, will be talking to the boys on Wednesday when I drop the car off. If what I want can be done, I’ll be very happy
  12. Well, stereo is almost done, got the new alpine double din head unit and amp installed, took some time but turned out ok, just need to fill a small gap between the head unit and climate control, it all fit in with no cutting or drilling any holes so I’m happy about that, and it sounds INSANE! For such a compact unit, it sure packs a punch, getting everything out of the speakers. I’m running Focal splits up front but a cheap set of Clarion 6x9’s rear. I’ve bought a set of Hertz Mile’ Pro 6x9 which I’ll have a go at fitting tomorrow and see what difference it makes. but bottom line, I wanted a set up that would give a good range of sound without the aid of a sub and it has delivered. I’m very happy with the result. next up, Motec dash ?
  13. The motec dash’s can work with just about any ecu, but Talk to your tuner/mechanic to make sure it will work with what you got. My car is being built by Powertune, they are a Motec dealer so you can contact them for pricing and to confirm if it will work with your ecu
  14. It’s a motec ac1212 12’ display. To get that look you have to also purchase software which gives full flexibility to create or mimic any dash you like, then you can add / customise to your liking. I’ve already got ideas of what I want to create. Will post up when it’s done. But it ain’t cheap
  15. Oh, it’s also getting one of these.
  16. Well, haven’t updated in a while, so here we go, looks like it’s Christmas morning for Mr 032JET, and the parts continue to roll in as I move to the next stage of this painful but somehow satisfying project!
  17. The new one is ready but getting the shifter to fit is tricky, Hypertune are working on a kit that looks very neat, if you’re thinking of going albins, call hypertune
  18. The ones I looked at were going to auction, the sold ones were on a recently sold list? I’m not saying this is the answer, just an option a potential buyer could look into.
  19. Like I said, just going by the photos, yes they could be rubbish, but still worth a look . I noticed most of them were 94’s, some had re-trimmed interiors, just about all of them had bubbles in the dash, but surely there has to be the odd, half decent one??
  20. I was looking through Tokyo auditions last night, r32 GTR’s were going for around 30k Australian, obviously I’m not 100% on the condition, but they looked ok in the photos, there were quite a few coming up for auction so surely it wouldn’t be impossible to get your hands on one?
  21. Ok, having read the thread, sounds like you’re heart is set on a GTR, my advice, choose carefully, get the right one, one that looks like it’s been maintained to a decent standard. My last GTR was a daily, yes that was 15/20 years ago, yes it did spend a substantial amount of time in my garage in pieces, yes I did eventually concede and buy a cheap runabout, but when it was going, it was unreal, nothing like what these guys are saying, yes, the car isn’t the ‘perfect’ street car, but it’s the little things that you will fall in love with. Today I own a fairly extensively modified R 32 Gtr, and yes, it spends more time at the workshop then st home, but it’s never left me on the side of the road. mots like any other car, you look after it, and there is no reason it can’t be a reliable daily, the problem is when the bug hits and you decide...a little more boost would be nice, what do I need to do to turn it up? new turbos, injectors, fuel pump, oh look at that, R35 coil packs, catch can? Boost controller, ecu, should I go haltec or motec? Clutch, gearbox, I hear the Quaife front diff is really good, headstuds, drop in cams are nice, oh I just want to replace these couple of pieces of interior trim! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ your wallet will never be the same, can you resist the temptation??? Not many have unfortunately. when I bought my current GTR it was perfect, in my eyes. Didn’t need a cent spent on it! Well you can pm me and I’ll let you know how much I’ve spent on it in the last 2 years, and it’s not even close to finish! Lol but do I regret it, NO WAY! buy the GTR!
  22. It’s a horrible feeling, I remember years ago when I had I last GTR, it was a daily at the time, I noticed one morning the garage door lock had been damaged, obviously an attempt to gain access. lucky they failed. back then I used to leave the keys in the ignition, and didn’t have comprehensive insurance, ok the car was only worth 15k. After that I kept the keys in my room. I don’t think you are giving away too much info from your posts, but I guess you can never be too careful, in the last couple of weeks two GTR’s have been stolen in Sydney, that I’ve heard about. So keep them locked up tight
  23. When I did my head the shop upgraded the cam cap studs to Tomei items. Might be a good idea since one has let go. and yes, Rams head service are a reputable shop, they are the ones that serviced my head
