  1. This is coming up tomorrow. Pretty early start but we'll be there. Finger's crossed the weather works out okay in the morning.
  2. I hear you! Been thinking about this a lot actually and I fully agree. Been wanting to get a second car that my partner can drive as well. But if I'm spending money on a car it has to be something that is fun to drive. And I already have a big old boosted boat so want something light and nimble. Pretty high on my list is the Honda S660. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_S660 Modern Honda so hopefully reliable, small, light-weight, high-ish revving 6 speed manual. Rear wheel drive. They are slow but apparently heaps of fun. And Jen loves the look of them. We see them every now and then around here. Main concern is that it's tiny and I might not fit.
  3. Fair enough. I guess the important thing is that you are in control and can set it up the way you want it. Which makes a big difference I would think.
  4. I wonder if it is because dbw lets car manufacturers do all kinds of shenanigans with the throttle input. Which then makes it feel like a computer is in control and not the driver. I think at least on economy shitboxes throttle inputs are modulated for maximum fuel efficiency. Loses all pedal feel and feedback. I presume neither of you have any of that nonsense on the Skyline
  5. I have a feeling it might be easier to just get a full mirror and pinch the glass from that. Seem to be plenty going around on Yahoo auctions or wreckers like jpjm.
  6. I'm not Sam but there's no need to RSVP for this one. Just show up in the morning with however many people. Are you going? Jen and I are planning to make it to this one. Haven't been there in a long time.
  7. Looks great! Though parking in a tight spot like in that second shot would give me anxiety
  8. I have the ARD alternator in my notes as a good replacement. See https://www.rhdjapan.com/ard-low-resistance-high-output-alternator-z31-r31-r32-r33-r34-c34-c35-wc34.html Mentioned by people: https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/463130-the-ever-evolving-r32-gtr-build/page/20/#comment-7975524 https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484831-ls-alternator-upgrade-kit-for-nissan-rb/#comment-7981690 I'd presume it's the same fitting for all as it's meant to be a direct fit and it supports pretty much all the models. Don't quote me on it though
  9. Nice one! How did you end scanning the super wide foldout pages @Duncan?
  10. This coming up today! See you there
  11. Looking forward to see what it'll sound like. Don't know anything about it but can appreciate a bit of lumpy idle on the right car. Though to be honest the examples in the video just make it sound a bit broken.
  12. Anything specific that isn't working for you? Looks like the store is up on my end. https://www.saunsw.com.au/store/p/membership
  13. Hah, not sure yet, I don't know much about exhausts. At this point I was going to talk to the same fabricator that built @Dose Pipe Sutututu's system for his Skyline. As the others were saying I presume some kind of muffler and resonator combination. I also doubt I'll get around to it any time soon. All money put aside for nice to have things on the car ends up being used for more important issues that pop up. Would be curious to hear what people end up doing
  14. Which one are you considering to get? My Stagea came with the Fujitsubo Legalis R. I think it sounds pretty good. OEM+. Quiet enough for residential but still has a nice burble to it on overrun. A little bit of drone on the highway maybe. Looking to go custom when I have enough funds together. Things that bug me about it and that I'd like to improve as much as possible: - It hangs pretty low. Often a bit of a butt-clencher on Australian driveways as it scrapes. - Better flow. This one is okay at 260awkw but my tuner was saying it would definitely hold things back if looking for more. - Drone on the highway is a bit annoying. Nothing like loud exhausts but I'm quite picky. - Not a fan of the cannon look
  15. So much this! I was thinking the same. @The Bogan, next time you look at selling your car please consider mentioning it here before listing otherwise
  16. Is it loud enough it would show on a recording? I always thought the purpose of the weather shield was so that you could open the window a bit when it rains without getting wet. But according to marketing it does more than that: Reduce wind noise and maximum fresh air enjoyment. Minimizes interior heat when parked. Keeps your windows dry in the rain. Yeah, whatever. It probably also ensures a long and prosperous life, greatly enhanced virility and many children and grandchildren. Personally I haven't noticed any wind noise issues. I do have the shield on it though and drive like a grandpa.
  17. And this is how it begins Looking forward to see where you'll take it. I have a feeling this will see a supercharger being bolted on eventually
  18. Hah, I was just joking. Fingers crossed the new one works!
  19. Agreed. OEM all the way for the bits that are just meant to be replaced. That's good to know, thanks guys! I tend to get OEM parts online from the usual places and then pass them on to the mechanic. I guess dealers won't show stock online so probably a good thing to keep in mind as an option.
  20. Just out of curiousity, when you say you are talking to Nissan, who are you talking to? A local Nissan dealer? I've never tried it, but always imagined if I talked to anyone at Nissan in Australia about getting something for a 25+ year old imported car they'd just laugh at me.
  21. Haha, well, see this is what happens when you go cheap Personally I don't think $200 is a big ask for a working replacement key. Not having to lock/unlock the car with the key in the door all the time would be worth more than that to me. And they do state that they offer a full refund if the key doesn't work. And if the non-OEM outside is a problem, just swap the PCB over to the old key. What might help: I had the key on my watchlist and sitting in my cart on ebay for a few days without actually purchasing it and the seller sent an ebay offer with a 15% discount.
  22. Hey @Hafidel36, there's an Australian seller on ebay selling replacement keys. See this listing for example. Might be worth a try for you. There is an alternative R34 listing depending on key type. It's worth messaging them to make sure to get the right one. I ordered a key for my Stagea and they responded same day and stopped me from getting the wrong one. Programming mode doesn't work on my car currently so I haven't been able to try it, but the key itself looks fine. Seems fine on the signal analyser as well. I'm not convinced it's an OEM one as it didn't come in the Nissan packaging and doesn't have the Nissan logo on the back. But feel and quality-wise it's no different. The actual board in it looks the same as well. This is how it came. The right one is my original. I was only going to mention it after actually trying to pair the key but I'm not sure when I'll get around to it. I have the annoying door chime disabled that comes up when opening the door with the key still in the ignition. So much better without it, but I think the car doesn't detect the key in the ignition anymore and hence the routine to get into programming mode doesn't work either.
