Shoota's R33 GT-R RB30/26
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to Shoota_77's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
This car will never run with this motor, by 2026 you'll be fitting Tesla motors to it lol -

ASR Sumps do a AWD -> RWD conversion to fit a few different cars to clear any steering racks, etc. I once had an AWD RB25DET NEO in a R33 and ASR was able to supply a sump, pick up to suit the motor I hope you port it, stick massive cams in it, and make it brap -
g35-900 vs g35-1050 vs 6466

I don't have the data or facts, however if you're going to use a properly divided manifold and a divided rear turbine housing you might end up with a tiny bit better spool! I'll try dig up a comparison done on an EVO between open scroll and a T4 1.06 I came across years ago when I was researching the real world difference with open vs twins scroll. -

@Jordie Lewis amazing stuff mate, solid determination there! I suppose you're having quite a bit of fun too making it, maybe... just maybe you should make this into a kit/package and sell it once you're done to reward your time spent! -

Proof right there! Great article here too: https://dsportmag.com/the-tech/twin-scroll-vs-single-scroll-turbo-test-the-great-divide/ Most car enthusiasts these days are too fixated on the final peak number they're producing, but often neglect to look at the low down, mid range, etc. Sure you're making 746kW (call it 1000hp so you sound cool quoting big numbers), but it's not going to be a fun car to drive, especially when you have like a 2k RPM range. It's kind of like a Honda, you need to rev the tits out of it to get anywhere. -

I'm a firm believer that going twin scroll will make all the difference, even with a larger rear turbine housing. -
Now installed, fun times as the GKtech manual makes no mention of modifying the subframe brackets/brace plates. Needed to lop off the hump as the GKtech subframe bushes are flat and don't have an indent. Heaps of swearing later, it's in 🥳

g35-900 vs g35-1050 vs 6466

I feel that Garrett was pressured to release a new turbo to the market and rushed it out the door (big mistake). They now have a decent range of divided rear housings now. Also the American market seems to be dominated with V8s and you wouldn't really run a twinscroll setup on a V8 (or could you... 4 gates lol). lol... And you think every single bit of your Borg Warner turbo is China free? -
g35-900 vs g35-1050 vs 6466
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to Scratched Skyline's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It's because a couple of guys tried them with open scroll turbine housings, it didn't meet their expectations and it's scared off anyone else wanting to try them. In a proper twin scroll setup, with a decent sized divided rear turbine housing I dare say they would be very competitive. Now with the G40 range it's going to be a game changer, however GT-R boys seem to like replication of setups. -

They're fragile little cnuts but they do make the power and do perform! -

GTR I just got one!

OEM+ black Love it! -
Just leave the OEM ABS system in place, bleed it properly so it doesn't feel shit and you don't complain about spongey brakes due to having ABS. One thing I often hear from Nissan owners is that their pedal felt better after deleting ABS, where in fact it's actually their inability to bleed the system properly thus the rubbish pedal feel.

Braced up, and also bits and pieces now in black. Yeah I blacked out the front GReddy strut brace too lol.

Keep it, even though it's a slow clunky system you're still going to stop quicker than your foot during an emergency situation. FWIW I find at Wakefield I'm able to stop much later into the last turn before the main straight with ABS, compared to my mate's S13 where I need to plan ahead and gradually slow down. In the R33, I see the 100m sign and it's bury my foot into the brakes. Another option is a Bosch Motorsport ABS unit 😎
