  1. I recently had one fckwit demonstrate how stupid he ways. I generally don't mind a bit of road rage as long as it's not endangering me or other road users. this f**ker was on the M5. I was in the overtaking lane in the 110 zone overtaking cars doing about 100 or so. this wasn't fast enough for this tool behind me who was driving a ute with a trailer behind it full of roadworks lighting equipment. he decided to tailgate me for a while, then he passed me aggressively on the left as soon as there was a gap but sadly for him he couldn't get in front of me on the right. he pulls back in behind me, I decide to just pull into the left lane (as there is now room) to let him go. as he gets alongside me he swerves into my lane and tries to ram me into the concrete wall. luckily I managed to avoid both him and the concrete wall but only just. I was so mad that some f**kwit would put my life in danger over absolutely nothing and wrote down his rego but honestly could not be arsed reporting it. I know full well nothing will happen, it will just cost me time and aggravation. There have been other incidents too where perhaps I was not 100% in the right but I wont go into those ones here....

    My R35

exhaust looks great duncan. which maker/model is it? and what do you think of the sound?
  3. sounds good mate. I can't remember if you told me before but why have you decided to build a test rig for starting/running the engine on a stand? Just curious as of course without a dyno you wont be able to measure output and without some kind of engine brake or dyno you can't simulate load on the engine, so guessing it will just be basic starting, diagnosis, maybe some light running etc? or is it more a step for the future to be able to test start future engines etc?
  4. ummm...... compared to what? if compared to a Lamborghini diablo that it looks quite good and compared to a 747 then it's excellent. compared to a prius though it's not great. to be honest if fuel consumption is anywhere in the top 10 of your priorities then a 3.8litre 500hp twin turbo is not the engine you are after. possibly a 100cc scooter... hey I won't laugh I have one... I ride it to the office all the time. most times when enjoying a 35 you can expect around 20L/100km but then that is actually a tad better than my old 32 which made around the same power. for track use I would say you could crack 25 or even 30l/100 pretty easily. seriously, if fuel usage is a concern, it's not the way to go.
  5. you are 100% right. driven the "old" R8 and it's an awesome car. very nicely made, absolutely gorgeous too, but no where near the performance of the R35. The 35 will comfortably beat an R8, and with a tune, some boost and a mid-pipe it wont even be that close... like I said, R8 is an awesome car but performance wise the 35 is on another level and value wise you cannot even fairly compare them at all....
  6. dunc, they are signed as 'safety camera ahead' and there is a list on the RTA website of the new locations.
  7. oh, and congrats on getting the ODE buttoned up. it looks great mate. can't wait to see what you do about the timing belt cover gap. I know you will do something good. make sure your test rig can be bolted down as the torque you will have will easily see it dancing all over the room, or maybe just flipping itself over with the first good stab of the throttle!
  8. moved my grey 32 under it's own steam for the first time in well over a year. was very pleased to see it come up nice and quick with 9 bar of oil pressure after sitting for so long! the sound of it did give me a bit of a chubby. you are so right about the motivation thing. I could have finished it over a year ago, but other cars and the fact that it stalled for a bit just meant I couldn't be arsed doing anything. but I'm getting very keen again.
  9. Word. replacing 2 or 3 or 4 f**ked airbag assembleys is $$$$$ cha ching! hence why I bought an active which not only has 100X better hydraulic suspension but it's also cheap and easy to rebuild. either that or get one with conventional coil-over suspension, sure it's not exactly awesome but at least it's cheap to change/fix/replace.
  10. as an example I just had to log into their 'toolbox' to make a small change to my account. being at work I didn't have my ADSL password with me. I rang up, and even on christmas eve, and at lunch time I got an answer within a minute or less, it was by a real person, in australia. He was able to quickly verify who I was, give me the details I needed and answer one other quick question all within about 30 seconds and all without trying to flog me any shit or giving me any kind of spiel. I logged in, made the change and I'm on my happy way. plus 60gig a month, coupled with reliable, fast ADSL2+ speed and good service is good value for $49 I reckon.
  11. yeah iinet is good. great quality, fast ADSL2+ and for $49 I get 30gig peak and 30gig off peak. not bad, even with their new shorter off peak periods (now only 2-8am for OP). never get shaped and I can't think of any downtime I've encountered.
  12. does the point to point thing really exist on the M7? I've never been booked there. Not that I ever speed of course.... and I'm the admin cause I give good backrubs. I wonder what the police cessna is like? The cessna sales office is just down the block from my office here in circular quay and it's pretty flash. you can get some pretty swanky fitouts. did they buy an ex drug plane? or the drug boat of their dreams? they probably have drug shoes and drug dresses too...
  13. I have to admit I would get a bit aroused to see Schumacher win the WDC this coming year. mmmmm aroused.
  14. lol, make that 2 votes.
  15. i've hardly even seen a car with oil cooler in front of the rad work properly on the circuit. you are better off running a smaller oil cooler and having it in it's own clean air space. for a GTR this means in the passenger air duct with some shrouding around it and an exit path for the air into the wheel well. I would think the biggest trust kit would be the place to start. they work very well and come with mounting and shrouding to fit into the passenger duct, and have great cores. if it's not big enough you can sell the core and keep everything else just replace with a bigger core from earls etc. duncan, put your cooler in the side duct. pronto!
  16. it really depends on where it's punctured and how badly. anywhere near or on the sidewall = throwaway. if it's on the tread face and is not too large consider repairing it. take it somewhere and explain that you will be doing over 200kph and will be doing heavy braking etc. get an internal vulcanised repair done and then put that tyre on the least "used" spot (most likely left or right rear depending on the track). it certainly is a risk. have you ever watched the tyre cam in v8 supercars etc and seen the kind of loads that tyres are under on a track? then imagine that tyre with a hole and a repair on it. but I'e done it once before and I know many other tight arses who have without issue but just be aware of what you're in for...
  17. exactly the same as my experience. the guys that do both sides and full tilt heads are not worried about the loss of static CR as they are making up for it with big timing numbers and LOTS of BOOST. so the short answer is they just live with the lower static CR as the other benefits they get is what they are after. and the rule of thumb is the same as what I've seen/used too. street = standard, street/race exhaust side gone. full race both sides gone. apparently the endyne stuff is kick ass. I would like to try one of their heads and roller wave piston set-ups one day....
  18. most likely the transfer case is wrecked due to being overheated massively whilst you had the wrong wheels on. and yes gears may change fine. that has nothing to do with the transfer case. take it to a workshop who knows GTRs and get them to properly diagnose the problem. could be small, could be big. anyone on here is just playing a guessing game. the only way to find out is bite the bullet and take it somewhere.
  19. yeah I think dundan is a bit off with pricing. last time I priced one up (recently) they are welll over $1000 from nissan. more like $1500 for a bare head with caps.
  20. yeah do not seal it up!! 1, you don't want any sealant in your sump. it gets farken hot in there and chances are that shit will eventually get sucked up by the oil pick-up and get caught on it and block it. 2. the gaps are meant to be there, they allow the oil level to quickly equalise, if you seal it all up all you have is the tiny trapdoors to allow oil to flow back and forth around the sump. you don't want that.
  21. yeah me too. you know me troy. I love the bloke more than most. and probably more than is healthy for any man to love another man, but I'm not sure I want to see him back in F1. I had just managed to accept the fact that he will never race F1 again, and now he does this too me. and there is a real question over his ability at 41 to be a top driver (especially after a few years out of the game) and also a question mark over his new team and car...
  22. lol, I agree mate. the whole approach to speed enforcement in this country and this state is arse backwards. it's draconian at best! we pay huge fines, and face loss of work, convenience etc for small infringements even though speeding is not a major accident cause. they should be focussing on road condition, banning re-treads, stricter road-worthy checks that actually check road worthiness (not the loudness of your BOV or the placement of your boost controller FFS), and then spend money on educating people about the dangers of fatigue and driver inexperience and changing weather conditions. some driver training wouldn't hurt either. a 2 day course like they have for bikes would do wonders.
  23. I want to know what a 33 year old bloke was doing with a 15 yo girl friend who was already 7 months pregnant...... ummmmmm
  24. well I think in this case it's a pretty safe bet as to who wound it back.... whoever bought it at auction. and if that website is listing it as their stock then that would lead you to believe it's them. to be honest though in the past it's usually been japanese sellers winding back odometers before sale to get a better grading, or the other half were done after being bought by an exporter/importer and wound back before ending up in whatever country they were going to. it will happen much less now that japan records mileage at shaken intervals. so at basically every 3 years the kms are recorded on the rego. as the most recent buyer you get the rego/export certificate and you can see what kms it had at the last inspection. if the car now has less then you have a problem! like priestly said though this is the reason why you need to inspect any car you want to buy (or have it inspected). people can and do lie in car descriptions. and kms is an easy one to fudge to make the car seem more attractive.
  25. is jones stand inside of T1 or outside? I always get jones and brabham stands confused. either way both are good. personally I prefer the inside of T1 whichever one that is.
