No the N1 pump is the N1 pump. The standard GTR pump is the standard GTR pump. There are two different part numbers. Not often you hear of a stock motor crapping and oil pump either.

A RB30 will need 17psi for the same power as a RB26 will @ 20psi (for example) - it's still the same amount of air, there is just less restriction (boost). It's as much about the volume & cooling that volume as it is about the pressure. Both need to be taken into account.... And it's totally fair, it's and intercooler. If it's tested to flow fine @ 25psi+ and does the job - then size is irrelevant, this is why i was going to use one BP Ultimate ususally N1 here (3 times). But thats a whole different debate, search and start reading for that

+1 I have two close mates who started up a PT business together about 2 years ago. Took them 18months to really build a client base having started from zero, now they are making a very good living and have 6 guys working for them on top of their own work. Not bad for 2 years effort and any start-up business is in a similar boat/time frame for returns on average. It's not all doom and gloom if you are prepared to do your homework in the market you are going into, then put in the hard yards to get there, just like any small/start up business really. These guys aren't drop dead gorgeous, they aren't super ripped or anything like that (although one is a 6ft and solid 100kgs). They are just fit, well spoken lads who put in the hard yards and now have a solidly performing business during the week that also lets them play local footy (paid) on the weekends. Also the odd beer when i catch up with em And remember - not all PT's need to be "in a gym"

Oh and for the manifold studs, i do believe Inconel studs are the way to go. They cost a bit more, but unlikely to ever fark up again. Problem is they are not on every shelf

K Sport Brake Review
R31Nismoid replied to Checkbuzz's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Give Import Monster a buzz, pretty sure Aaron can get his hands on them as he is a D2 distributor as of a few weeks ago (and workin now on getting the group buy off the ground for us) -
Well this is where it always gets interesting The core Nizpro use for their XR6 upgrades flows enough for 400-450rwkw and these cars are well proven. From memory it's roughly: 400mmL x 300mmH x 76mmD Now look at a Greddy replacement size: 600mmL x 284mmH x 76mmD If Nizpro cores that are pretty much the same size as a GTR core (GTR is actually larger)... and they flow easily 400rwkw... I don't see why it's so hard to believe a GTR one, or sized replacement, can't? I've got it on good authority, as i was going to use one on my GTS-R, that the drop across the Nizpro core is only ~1.5psi which is fine in that volume as any less it won't be cooling enough given it's always a trade off between flow/cooling/size.

Kuhmo Ku21 Opinions
R31Nismoid replied to AngryRB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well that wasnt a suggestion to go RE001 lol, they are like 6-7 years old now and RE002 are out Was more the point the KU31 are not that great even on a stock V8 sedan -
Kuhmo Ku21 Opinions
R31Nismoid replied to AngryRB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I've got near new KU31s on my VY SS commodore at the moment. Pretty sure they are 245 all round They are farken dangerous, wouldn't say I'm a great fan haha The car is factory and as soon as there is one skerrick of water from the sky or otherwise, traction control is constantly on So much so that I'm actually turn it off it becomes that annoying. Even rolling on throttle from 40-5km/h it'll turn them Given I've had 280rwkw in my GTS-R and that was pretty well tamed by RE001... Before next winter i think ill be buying new rubber -
MPH never lies, so the proof would suggest otherwise (people said stock dumps couldn't either, but ive proven that wrong) Make sure you do pressure drop testing as well

Opinions Regarding Garett 2860 -5S On An Rb26
R31Nismoid replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Good timing to ask that as I drove a mates GTR without diffs/transfer case mods all day on Saturday @ SAU-Vic event, doing the same courses that i did in my old GTR that had diffs & transfer case mods... It had similar brakes/suspension to mine so the cars were as similar as they were going to get really I give a massive hell yes to going and doing them. My car had so much more traction than his - everywhere. Was nowhere near a tail happy, outta the blocks a lot faster, could 4 wheel power slide in oversteer far easier (easy to navigate a long 180 degree movement on a skidpan). Only issue is the car is less friendly as a daily driver if you do the diffs. Transfer case no problem. I'm also talking $4000 worth of suspension here though don't forget, not your usualy $1500 coilover setup. I had a cheap setup and going to the more expensive stuff I REALLY noticed a difference. Car could carry much more corner speed especially in the hills for instance. My suggestion would be to head to a Sandown trackday (like Paul has suggested) when a few VIC GTR's are entered, go whore a few passenger rides if they have passenger sessions. Always best to work out what you want by experiencing it sometimes. I had guys in my car with -9s on it and some with -5s - some prefered the -9, some the -5 so everyone is different really. -5s on the street are only good if you are in license loss territory IMO. If I still owned my GTR i'd gladly take you for a run, but alas, i sold it -
Turbo Choices For 800Hp Rb30S.......
R31Nismoid replied to Ramius83's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If you've already got a turbo capable of it, I reckon you'd be crazy not to try it out first just as is! If it doesn't meet your expectations, then look into other options like housing or another turbo all together. -
I've also had -9s prior and made 330rwkw on 19psi, using stock dump pipes - ran 124mph as well which is smack on the money for the power
-
Well I can only speak from the results I've personally seen. I had a Greddy upgrade core on my built GTR and -5s making 365rwkw @ 19psi. My car: - Made the same power - Had the same response - Almost identical intake temps after 5mins on circuit (talking less than 2 degree difference, cars had different front bars) as cars with the same motor build/turbo config that utilised stock R32 GTR or stock R34 GTR cores. These were cars from the same tuner, using the same dyno. I've also seen a GTR core flow 400rwkw on over 20psi from a 2.8ltr stroker, with the lap times to back up the performance. IMO you would be wasting your money. Garrett -9s (GT-SS) are only capable of making max of 330-340rwkw on 20-22psi... So 320rwkw @ 18psi sounds exactly right really.

What power level are we talking about? Compression of your motor does not have a lot to do with it really, 9:1 isn't that high by todays standards

Turbo Choices For 800Hp Rb30S.......
R31Nismoid replied to Ramius83's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Fact is - they are old tech. When you see results showing a turbo coming on (for example) 300rpm sooner, making more power at the same boost level when compared against older designs - does one really need to know the intricate details of how the angle/trim of a blade, or how many blades, might improve performance? Of course not. Most people simply don't care about the fact that "no one could tell you the actual differences or quantify how the wheel design would affect performance". Take the GTX series. Resuts in the GTX3X frame have been average at best when you go looking at the actual results despite the "improved wheel designs for flow/response" and all that yabber that went on - for most people at the end of they day people are by & large better off with the cheaper GT3X in most circumstance despite such improvements. Or look @ BW as another example: ^ It's really amazing and great companies are putting so much into it. Sounds like a great product and those improvements will certainly help performance. Credit BW for designing something that should perform better than previous products. Pity such improvements were useless whilst shafts were bending & cartidges were failing for over 12 months whilst people did their best to try and cover it up. I'd place a fair bet 99% of people care more about the 2nd line than the 1st line. -
Closed for now - I don't have time to clean this thread at the moment (if another Mod/Admin comes by and does it, great). If you don't agree with a thread or can't post something helpful/constructive - then quite simply - do not post. Not all users have brilliant spelling, grammar or otherwise. It's very confronting for new users to come on here and be accosted with the disgraceful attitude of some of you around here lately. In particular it's a few of you NSW members that seem to think it's "ok" to follow each other around in threads and post utter dribble all over the place whilst derailing threads constantly. If it continues past this point there won't be warnings, there will simply be bans. We've been nice enough on this and tried to give you guys hints to cut it out but you clearly aren't capable of doing it of your own accord. Show a bit of respect for one another and pull your heads in. Thanks.

The higher up the food chain in a lot of larer business you go, you'll find the same groups on many of the varying subsidiaries in various industry - some even compete against each other! but end of the day profits end up in the one place. It's very interesting if you wanted to look into it. Wesfarmers is another big one to dig around and find they have thier fingers in MANY pies as Terry said -
Turbo Choices For 800Hp Rb30S.......
R31Nismoid replied to Ramius83's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Come on a T04Z making 500rwkw on PULP is a bit generous... Will do 450rwkw on PULP but the extra 50 is asking a bit. E85 changes the rules of course But then you are in America so you get a free 100hp from the start so our 450 would be your 500 hehe. Shit stirring aside look at Precision, or a GT3788 seems to be another good choice of the moment. Neither should need anymore than 30psi to get what you want. Side question here, what fuel are you looking at using? Be pushing boundaries a little getting near 30psi on pump gas. -
As we said, the PFC has a base map. It's generally fine to drive on as long as you don't hit boost and stay under 3000rpm.
-
I've been saying it in other sections, so some of you jokers might as well be told in this section as well. Either stop antagonising each other or you will all start getting holidays. End of the day I don't care if you do or don't stop - but i tell you now if you don't, it's not going to end well for you. zerba - especially you. Enough trolling is enough. There was no reason for you to reply here at all.
