  1. Wow... didn't this go off in a different direction lol There is a group taking a major stand and doing their best to educate everyone on what we can and can't do as motoring enthusiasts (as the laws keep changing) I don't know whether anyone knows of this site but I found it quite informative on anything and everything that could affect me as a car enthusiast. http://www.gruntfiles.com.au/ - I strongly suggest anyone who has questions about the 'Anti-hoon' laws to read up on Type 1 and Type 2 category offences
  2. Reflector + 1 Please, just paid total of $48 What's the go with entering? Are we designated a waiting area over to the side like they do sometimes?
  3. Skylines out and about today - seen about 5 in about 20mins On loganlea road passed a R33 White series 1 just near yahoo chinese - small wave but didn't see a response Seen two blue R32's trying to find parks in hyperdome - what a nightmare And spotted a red R34 GTR cruising through main stretch of the dome
  4. Wonder how the skyline would look wrapped in al-foil That's what we thought may happen, apparently it use to happen years ago but probably not as frequently now because they can just defect you on the spot much easier I got pulled over by the 'Fatal Five' in the back of moss st one afternoon and one of the cops was very interested in finding out information about my car. Then he proceeded to pull out a 1.5" (wouldn't be exaggerating) book that he had been compiling and he should be all the information he's collected on imports... Had someone check into it though and there's nothing logged in a database etc... so unless it hasn't come through yet, all is good
  5. Hey all, Just wanted to document something out of the ordinary that happened yesterday just before closing up at work. I had pulled my car out of the workshop and parked it in one of our bays so I could start bringing in other vehicles and wrapping up. About 30mins-45mins later a police twin cab D-MAX pulled up out the front of my workshop - single female driver. She was in the car for a bit but I noticed her looking around and then get out and open up the back tray of her vehicle. I thought nothing of it... That was until the boys from the shop next to me informed me today that she got out a camera and started photographing my car. She was out the front for no longer than 15-20mins then as we walked outside to leave she did a U-turn and drove away. To my recollection I have no reason to be of interest to police especially seeing as my car has just come out of the workshop after 7-8months in the build and I have a clean drivers record. It was driven twice that day, once to the autoelectricians then once back - no cops in sight, following me or pulling me over. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen or something similar? It's playing on my mind as with the new hooning laws, I'm wondering if they're documenting imports and adding them to a database on their systems.
  6. Everything I've put into this system will be 'E85 ready'. Unfortunately, there are no Local E85 pumps around that I know of. I am not at all arguing the point (at which this topic has drifted towards now) that lower duration cams are not more effective, I am simply going to try it. Worst case scenario I buy another set of cams really. Is this not part of motorsports in general? We test, we trial and we get results . Believe you me though, I'm not being ignorant to the information you're all telling me.
  7. GTX3076R 0.82 3 angle valve grind, bowl is being opened up and the head is being de-dagged and tidied up. Redline increase to 8000rpm, Ideal shifting point will be low 7000's to max 7500rpms I appreciate and respect the nature of this post Scott. I understand what you're saying. The poncams are a good quick drop in choice, I know because I've used them. I'm up for creating something unique. Perhaps the poncams may be suited for a faster street car - then again, are there many rb25det dyno results showing the difference in cam choice alone? I also believe in trial and error. If I end up with poor performance, this will be another result to add to those asking the same question, if it does work effectively, again, the results pave way for those wanting to know whether a larger cam will be beneficial to their current (or future) set ups. My suggested power figure was ONLY a target. If the engines potential has more in it, I'll be ecstatic, but I will be relying on the tune to be suited to a safe set up without pushing the engine beyond it's limits.
  8. Perhaps I took your answer as sarcasm because I'm use to people having a stab at others assuming they know nothing. I retract my comment and YES I understand english and had I of known you were referring to the size of the cams I wouldn't have assumed what I did. The cams in question will be beneficial to my situation. Put simply, the more air flow + more fuel = more power output. Having the head ported + the increased flow due to the cam, the more power I will achieve. Thanks Simon, this is what I was hoping for.
  9. Not when the motors in pieces, thank for the input Head was coming off anyway. The port/polish job was something we decided to get done while it was all apart anyway. It's only going to be beneficial in the long run.
  10. Hey all, First up YES I have searched the forums and google thoroughly and have not found a conclusive answer to my question, secondly please don't come on here asking - 'Why are you deleting VCT? It's better for low-mid range blah blah' because I'm upgrading to cams that are not compatible for VCT for a higher powered build. Currently building up my R33 RB25DET to support (aiming towards) 300-350rwkw on Pump 98. I know that is a huge variation in a power figure but I am not banking on a specific number, the engine/mods are being build to support that power but as to how safe the end result is is ultimately up to the tune/tuners. The head is away getting ported/polished/dedagged etc... and I am buying a set of Camtech cams - specs as follow: IN/EX 272deg IN/EX 9mm Lift No vvt/vct on inlet My question is. With the head off, is there any additional welding/filling up of oil galleries in the head in order to delete the VVT/VCT? Or is it just as simple as removing/blocking up the existing sensor? I don't particularly want to have the sensor hanging out the side of the head when it's not in use as I was hoping to just screw in a threaded bung. I have the two adjustable cam gears ready to go and the aftermarket ECU is a Link G4.
  11. My advice for N/A is to start with a cat back exhaust into a cannon (or whatever exhaust tip you prefer). Realistically you don't want anything larger than a 2 1/2" system. For obvious reasons 3"+ is the recommendation for turbo'd skylines due to needing more flow. Anything larger you will start to get a 'drowny' sound. Advantages of the cat back are: 1. Less expensive than a full system 2. Loud/head turning, but not obnoxiously loud to attract unwanted attention. 3. You get to change the tip to suit your liking and the cars looks whilst getting a performance increase 4. Once you build up the funds, you can then add the rest of the exhaust system at a later date (Extractors, high flow cat etc...) without changing from the cat back.
  12. If you can get to the wastegate you can try and move to shaft (actuator rod) coming out of it/them (twin turbo DETT?). The shaft's connected to the wastegate diaphragm. See if there's any movement or if it's stuck (if it's stuck open you'd be making no boost though). Best option is to just drive cautiously without planting your foot, don't want to do any damage
  13. Yes you definitely NEED to get mario. Super mario bros Wii is an excellent game. Currently I'm trying to put enough time into finishing borderlands 2 however I find myself and a friend getting distracted by playing some good old GTA IV and causing pure havoc. The story line is just an excuse to release a game that allows you to create ultimate havoc lol. GTA IV night would be fun. Seem to revisit Dead Rising 2 aswell... TOO MANY GAMES.
  14. I'm pretty sure there is a registry tweak that is surfacing. If I find it I'll let you know, might save the purpose Also for anyone that isn't partial to Metro being your start up screen, use this - Skip Metro Suite Few little tweaks with that app that might prove useful for some.
  15. A vacuum leak would be more of a hissing sound. They're also subject to causing surging, misfires or very noticable poor engine performance. Vacuum leak would also be on the inlet side. Is the sound coming from above the turbo when you listen under the bonnet? Very similar situation happened to mine except I lost all boost - VERY loud 'supercharger like' whining. On inspection the compressor wheel on the turbo had shattered 3 blades. Perhaps yours has only done slight damage to a 1 blade? Also check for bearing wear in the turbo shaft, you'll hear a grumbling/growling sound when you free spin the shaft over if the bearing is worn. How many Kilometers are on the car AND is it the original turbo? Sounds to me like the 10mins of unattended driving may have done the damage no one likes to hear.
  16. Well coming from windows 7 and no SSD (it took me using a friends computer to realise what I was missing out on) going to windows 8 and a vertex 4 I can finally say this is definitely a step in the right direction for microsoft. It will take some people a while to get the hang of it. Just a few helpful shortcuts for those that are new. Press together when you're on the desktop. Windows Key + X = Brings up a text menu to access all the important (and usually relevant) features of windows Windows Key + F = Brings up the search menu to find programs etc... Windows Key + E = Brings up 'My Computer Windows Key + C = Brings up Date/time + Side menu Hope that helps some people get around a little easier
  17. Ah thanks man. I was really looking forward to getting this new exhaust but when I spoke to the guy he said it's not going to fit because it's designed for the RB26DETT - even though it's just a cat back. I'm usually an impulse buyer however, this is a little much to take the gamble on unfortunately. I'm guessing each exhaust bends/welds look different from manufacturer to manufacturer. I tried comparing my existing exhaust to one the same as I was going to get. The mount brackets look slightly different on the cannon tip (ones really short ones really long). Has anyone successfully fitted a HKS hi-power GTR exhaust to their GTS-T?
  18. Thanks for that, a little reassurance is good to hear . Just didn't want to go and spend the money then realize I'd have to find a GT-R owner willing to buy it . How was the ground clearance on both exhausts and what brand? (just out of curiosity)
  19. Hey all, So I've got the option to upgrade my exhaust to something a little more 'special' at what I consider a fairly good price. My car is a 1996 S2 M-Spec R33 GTS-T. I have access to a HKS Hi-Power exhaust however, it's only listed for the BCNR33 RB26DETT. As far as I'm aware the system is only cat back. I've tried searching and I can't find a definitive answer so... The question is - Will a HKS Hi-power cat back exhaust listed for a BCNR33 RB26DETT fit my ECR33 RB25DET with no hassle ie - mounting points are the same etc.. I've read that the R32 GTS-T and R32GT-R's are interchangeable, is this this same with R33's?
  20. Not a drama dude, anything to help out a fellow enthusiast Anyone else wanting it should definitely jumped on this deal. Minimum saving of $20 off the steam and retail prices.
  21. Hey guys, figure those who are after a discount could use this. Not telling shit, this is 100% legit Click this link - Greenmangaming (it's a referal link for friends and you'll get a $2 credit for each purchase you make towards future purchases) Sign up or follow prompts. Add Borderlands 2 to your cart and (as of now, it's 10% off) THEN BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT Add this code - GMG20-AWDF9-Q1PEY to your purchase for a further 20% off So effectively this is a 30% discount off. I got a total of 41% off (paid $36.86 - 16% + 25%) 2 days ago but as it's so close to release they're dropping the discount (originally it was like 20% + 25%). Those of you that are skeptical, you're not alone. I was hesitant but a friend urged me to use them and low and behold, the key registered to steam no problem at all Edit: Also, not sure how long this discount will last as the games released in 2 days.
  22. I sent an email at least 2 weeks ago via ebay regarding several products. No reply, not even a hint of recognition. Unfortunately, (imo) poor customer service looses the sale. I've had to go another avenue as I needed a turbo asap and even though I paid more, I got the service I was hoping to recieve. Guess it's worked well for others though
  23. Lol. don't worry, I have patience... it just pains me to see my car stationary
  24. I sent him a message via ebay regarding a few products on thursday last week. I think there's only about an 1hr time difference between Japan and here so I assume he's either read and disregarded it OR, he hasn't been on for the last few days. I'm actually considering contact KAMAK dynamics and getting a quote off them. Anyone dealt with them or just kando dynamics through ebay?
