ARP timing studs for RB engines
hardsteppa replied to hardsteppa's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Agreed its fkn expensive especially when you see the shipping cos to Aus on that listing. I haven't seen anyone else list that kit, tho i imagine is nothing special, just a question of finding the right part no for those sizes? -
Have read a few instances of people reporting the Nissan OEM timing bearing stud, and bolt, having broken which would be catastrophic to the engine whilst running....and you know I don't use the word catastrophic lightly, it's too much trouble to type to be thrown around willy-nilly. Have seen this listing here for an unofficial ARP timing bearing stud and bolt set https://www.boostfactory.ca/products/arp-timing-tensioner-stud-and-nut-for-rb20-rb25-rb26-rb30?variant=21433604505684 but haven't seen a listing for it anywhere else at all. It seems like a good idea to me to use a hi qual fastener like ARP for these bearings especially if running stiffer valve springs, tougher more rigid timing belt etc - what do y'all reckon, overkill or good idea?

My bride knockoff passed an engineers inspection without any issue.

No worries, pm yr number if u like and will text pics. Might be handy for spares anyway- no use to me, mine is short nose and auto ratio

Hi mate...have the diff housing, crown wheel in good nic but pinion has a chipped tooth. Yours free if u want it. Pickup in brisbane

Yeah but just think about it...the holes are oversize and have some movement allowance from factory. What happens when the manifold gets hot - thermal expansion movement. And you're putting in dowels to ensure the manifold no longer has any movement? I'm all for thinking outside the box - hell i made a large box with a seat on the outside of it, just so i could sit there and think - but it doesn't sound like a good idea.

Some help with water lines
hardsteppa replied to Fiddle's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
red hose in pic 3 is meant to go over to turbo. Black thing in pic 2 is meant to have an air hose on it (running back into manifold I think?) -
power steering tank replacement
hardsteppa replied to hardsteppa's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
update to this ...so, the tank has a thin maze-type channel across the neck at the top of the tank; the lid screws on to this and has an o-ring, that seals it...well, almost seals it. There is a tiny approx. 1mm breather hole at the end of the maze, leads to outside of the tank...and I have had a constant issue with p/s fluid leaking everywhere slowly but surely, every time I drive. So, have gone back to the OEM plastic tank now. -

No, the more free flowing you can make intake air, and the more available "on tap" the better. -

i now run a 3.5 inch pipe, had 3in originally. It has better response; if yr going to make one, i reckon just go with 3.5in first up. -

i sold one, but have another one for sale now - the one pictured later in the thread. Postage to the US might be a bit though mate, might be better locally made? Really only need the fittings welded on (if you don't have a welder that is) the rest you can make at home. -

^^shithouse. Bad fit, overpriced. Just get a stainless bend, and weld fittings onto it( they're common sizes), and use silicone joiners for pipe sections. That way you can adjust it sectionally to get exactly the right angles/positions, otherwise one solid long pipe will be a PITA to fit right. Can get it all off ebay cheap, and then just replace single piece if making changes in future, rather than having to re-do whole pipe. Example of mine is shown here https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/475731-r33r34-performance-items-some-brand-new-gktech-tein-apexi-nismo/ -
adding sensors/gauges to an R33 with a Neo
hardsteppa replied to mikel's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nothing wrong with a power fc, esp if its still mostly stock. My imitation-defi chin3se knockff mutli-gauge unit is still going strong for years now and only a few hundred off ebay. -
Indeed, and decided they have. Hypergear is still here and going strong, and, looks like poster above is long gone. Man, been researching a lot of old posts, seems Tao has copped lot of undeserved flak in the past. Been very happy with my HG hiflow, and now looking to the ATR43 range.

Another 3in stainless intake pipe. Has ports for BOV and PCV return, and is thermowrapped. This is the lower section only this time. You need to use a 2.3in>3in reducer from turbo to the pipe, and the reducer pictured is 3in>3.5 (I have now gone 3.5in all the way so this section not needed). So use either another bit of 3in routed to your afm/filter/whatever, or go 3.5 (gave me a little better throttle response). $50, or add $18 posted anywhere in Oz.

Nismo FPR now off vehicle, ready to go. Also have - BrakeWest s/steel braided lines. These are ADR compliant/stamped, and a very high quality line - same layout as stock with the mounting blocks built into the lines. Think Nismo but a little more heavy duty construction. Used but in extremely good condition. Front only sorry, I still use the rear lines. $40, or add $15 postage anywhere in Oz.
