  1. Hello old chap I am new to cars myself as i catch the bus and don't have one, but my mate knows cars real good and the last thing he said to me before he got sent down for a two-stretch was, if you ever get a turbo'd car and don't use a boost controller, make sure the wastegate is connected to the piping before the throttle, not after. I remembered it as i was expecting a goodbye or something so it seemed a strange thing for him to say, but turned out to be good advice, given your query now and the situation we find ourselves in.
  2. i'm pretty certain whiteline and nolathane are same company (Redranger Pty Ltd). I have some whiteline, some nolathane, some superpro across the car...can't say I see a difference, just the different design you may prefer between manufacturers, eg, diff bushes. Urethane bushes have been around that long I'd be surprised if either company had some miracle advantageous compound over that of their competitor...but still charge a similar price for their product. I'd use whichever you can get cheapest. Although as above, might be better to just spend a little more and get whole new adjustable arms, and some bushes are better rosejointed.
  3. I think you should still post it.
  4. I would suggest getting a wideband gauge if yr using an safc. I think my aem one was under 300? Have had it a few years on car and still going strong. Otherwise yr shooting in the dark adjusting safc, and in the danger zone. .not the good Kenny Loggins type either
  5. Used oem myself, but kudos did recommend cometic..meant to be good.
  6. by car bra are you meaning this sort of thing? each to their own of course; I've never understood it myself. Making sure your car looks good for that special occasion in the future by making it look shit every day until then. Just budget for a paint touch up in the future if it does get significantly damaged/aged?
  7. ok now watched the video...looked normal to me. Diffs don't have zero backlash, they have a small amount for a very good reason, which is visible as a bit of turn in the driveshaft like that, when not under load. the 5 bolt driveshafts on the r33 gtst use a 5-ball cv joint in both the inner and outer, which for most purposes is as strong as fk, there's nothing in there to ' break' really, only wear a groove at best, unlike the 3x2 bolt shafts which I believe use a 3x ball bearing race on the inner. I rebuilt a spare set of shafts and they had exactly the same movementousness as my old ones, which when pulled apart had no visible wear. What I am getting at is if you're not having any ' issue' as such, the bit of movement like that is unlikely to be any concern.
  8. Having had the same movement, i rebuilt the cv's, replaced bearings, new bushes, new diff centre with perfect backlash...i still have the same movement. However..
  9. Scoring is definitely something to worry about. Pump gears are pump specific so 26 won't fit rb25 pump. From sound of it, suggest you get a new pump. I use an rb26 N1 pump with Spool gears, was best price overall and have had no issues with it on rb25
  10. Or put the whole engine/trans/ecu package in...best option if budget allows.
  11. Yea you can...in time of desp need. Make sure is well lubed when putting back on so doesn't grab/fold the seal lip.
  12. Or rocket surgery. In this case, a vac source is a vac source.
  13. Those things look siiick. Do you have a link to the seller's ad pls? Ones i found on ebay were 300ish plus.
  14. could you specify the size wheel (height, width and offset) you recieved for the car you have please?
  15. lol...so did you specify the offset you wanted? or just ' hoped' they would know the perfect offset for your car? And then get cut because they wouldn't give you a free swap to a different offset after you'd fitted them to the car and didn't like the way they sat? The first set of koya drifteks I got were fkn horrible, they sat too far inwards like stock wheels.....oh wait....I didn't specify an offset to them. ..so they sent out something based on stock fitment. Yep my bad, not theirs.
  16. The only thing a driveway like that respects is a show of force. Drive the car at speed at it, your bent chassis rails will be a trophy of victory.
  17. bad news, sorry to hear that.. but yeah the idea is, listen to people, filter what they say, decide whether it's worth taking on board or not. Have had that a few times on here; ppl like 'why'd you ask if you're just going to do what you want anyway??/" cos you didn't make a rational or convincing enough argument....so it was dismissed.
  18. Ahh ok so pump still working but you're thinking no longer regulating oil pressure and it's wayyy too high, like relief valve seized? While its not great, the stock oilpressure dash gauge should be accurate enough to tell you if thats happened.
  19. No. But i am assuming immediate loss of oil pressure and shortly after, engine destruction. Or are you more referring to a concern like relief valve leaking?
  20. Or get some acl heatshield; make a small cover for that part of ex manifold. That stuff is amazing for stopping radiant heat.
  21. so adm, I had a similar issue recently as per posts in r200 diff rebuild thread. After rebuilding rear cv's, diffcentre and buying a replacement tailshaft, the noise disappeared after I had the front tyres rotated side to side and rebalanced. I could have sworn the knocking was from the rear somewhere, seriously it seemed so tailshaft/diff located, but after it conclusively disappeared post front wheel refit I can only assume it was a weight fallen off on the front wheels. Was extremely pronounced between 25-40 k's ph.
  22. damn straight Big B. It reminds me of the time I did backside deckers and pivot-fakies on the vert ramp at Merimbula. No one believed me, in fact they called me a liar. A liar they said, but I knew the real truth, and the truth did set me free. although I also ate shit many times in attempting said backside deckers.
  23. it is quite an assumption, without any further enquiry as to where said donuts are being allegedly performed and in what fashion. Doing donuts is about as much fun as eating them; ie lots. Doing donuts in middle of busy city intersection = bad (although have seen it done...dickheads) Doing donuts in appropriate place = sensual.
