Yep I just gotta start a thread about what grinds my gears...

I'll go first..

Fuel Prices and people who make posts about how they hate the cost of fuel. Its fuel and you need it. Sure I only paid 65c/L back when I got my license but hey what can you do..

That my friends is what grinds my gears..

Who's next..

You know what grinds my gears, people who whinge about fuel, we get it cheap check world prices my friend. Besides what you gonna do not drive hahaha not going to happen you will pay whatever they hell they want!!!! ahhahaha unfortunately america attacked the wrong place if they want to control world oil pricing, but give them a few years I am sure all of the middle east has WMD's (wink wink nudge nudge) hahaha all in good funu

People who can't merge properly, can't change lanes properly, can't negotiate roundabouts properly, can't indicate properly, people on the freeway who can't do the speed limit, and people who don't indicate when turning right at an intersection with no filter lane until they are in the middle of the intersection.

So yeah, most of Perth.

Actually, thats a load of rubbish..

i worked this out the other day, the yanks pay about 70-80 CPL AUS compared to us paying nearly double that..

we're on par with the price of fuel in the uk, but they pay more to avoid the cars on the road, but they also have a very well sorted public transport system, compared to our crap ones..

i think bitching about the fuel price is fair, i fail to under stand how it takes some 8 years to go from 50-60cpl, to about 80-90 cpl, then SUDDENLY, in a two years period, go from 89-90 cpl to nearly a buck 50.. its a load of shit, oil costs have gone up yes, but lets face it, they've stayed much the same, production costs are less due to better refinement techniques, yet fuel companys post monsterous proffits, as do the goverments..

its a load of crap, its nothing but proifteering on the side of the fuel companies, and the aus goverment, the goverment won't reduce tax either, because they'd suddenly loose the neat little cash cow they've built up over the past couple of yrs, fueling it with fear and speculation of war as a reason to up the prices further..

You hit the nail on the head there Denver. The facts are that as the barrel of oil cost has gone up the Oz govnt makes more and more. Rather than reduce the tax so that their take remains constant (or in line with other indicators such as inflation) they just keep taking.

About 60% of the price you pay at the pump is tax...you do the sums when petrol has gone from 70-80c at litre to over $1.20.

nothing to do with fuel prices, but those idiots that work at those juice bars, and how over happy they are, they have their little boom box with there bubblegum music playin, and there all so over the top happy, and when im having a bad day and i walk past them it makes me want to load the colt up... they are not groovy, they are not cool...

there is a fat asian girl who works at java juice in town up near 78's, if men could hit chicks she would be my number 3 on the list.. advice to her.. buy a pair of shoes the same color because diff color shoes isnt cool, and when you have them, go running, (you all know the one)

agreeing with nathan, but also must add, people who constantly stick on the right lane, believeing they are correct, when infact they are doing 10-20kms less than the speed limit, and also refuse to change lanes,

people who stick on the right lane, and block others off cause they doing the same speed as people next to them, and lastly...

WTF is up with mothers driving 4wd's to school? is our school carparks that bad that they need 4wd's jus to pick up their kids?

what grinds my gears: people who don't indicate, tailgate, people doing things when driving for example talking on their mobiles, 4wds I mean why does every mum have to have one some may say you can tell how yuppie an area is by counting the number of 4wd shopping trolley’s in the car park, I guess this can all be classified under bad drivers.

I also agree with shmiddy, very well said and straight to the point haha!

People who show up late to work EVERY morning then leave right on time every day.

And this cocky 'fanta pants' guy at my work who has a one of those gay arse goatee's without the moustache bit, so he looks like a stupid leprechaun. And when he walks his arms dont move - WTF? One time there was team dinner and when asked what he wanted to drink, he said he didnt drink wine, beer or any of the spirits the place had available. Instead he made his manager walk to the bottle shop and buy him a 4 pack of woodstock bourbons! Then when ordering something to eat he said to the waitress 'There is nothing that I like on here, can you make me a spaghetti cabonara - thanks' GRRRR. I have a theory that he got bashed at school alot for being a nerd, but thought that when he started work, if he acted like a cocky know-it-all, people would respect and like him. WRONG WRONG WRONG I also believe he may have mild tourettes - he does random things like opening the door to the test lab and yelling into the office area 'BURN'.

Everytime I hear him talk to someone like they are stupid or when he tries to be funny with the admin girls and doesnt pull it off.... I get the urge to pound his head in with the my sticky tape dispenser. Users don't thank you for making them look like idiots!

Van Drivers

ever noticed how all van drivers seem to believe they own the road and that there driving some kind of sports car that has the same handling and power of a top line sports car, they never seem to give a hoot about pulling out in front of others, have no respect or curtisy for other road users, it's an amazing transformation that occurs whenever anyone drives these totally unsafe, blind spot hunks of shit, and then you get the turbo diesel models and these f**kers have to try drag everyone of at the lights.

and i would have to add taxi drivers to that same rant

*all of the above

older perth drivers thinking they drive perfectly and blame the younger ones for driving badly. hey, its not like that ALL the time!

oh and also, major lane closures on the freeway leading to real slow traffic at times and places you wouldnt expect (south tce - just after canning hwy at 10pm on a tuesday night.)

- kinda reminds me of the "Things that you hate and annoys you" on teknoscape... :)

<snip>if men could hit chicks she would be my number 3 on the list.. <snip>

Just wondering who 1 & 2 are..... :P

Gear Grinder - 1

People that get next to me at the lights in the left hand lane after reading my number plate and see that the lane they are in has parked cars just over the intersection decide to try and pull out in front of me away from the lights.

GG- 2

People that get next to me at the lights in the right hand lane after reading my number plate and see that the lane I am in has parked cars just over the intersection decide to race me and try to stop me from pulling over in front of them. :P

& Oh yeaaaah ....Some Customers hey AlphA!

    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
