Well, tonight after work there was a little incident....

The person in front slammed on the brakes, as did I. So much so that ABS went spako. I had stopped with about 1/2 a cars length from the car infront. Then I look in the rear vision mirror, and this car hasn't stopped at all.

BANG. 60kmh into the back end. My poor old car is not in a good way. Both rear gaurds have folds in them, the rear bumper is shattered, the spare wheel well is creased, and the rear seats have popped forward in the middle.

To make matters worse, a third car hit the guy behind me. YAY!! 2 wiplashings! I tried to move my poor old girl off the road but the rear gaurds have pinched both rear tyres.

I'm ok physically, but will probably have a very stiff and sore neck and back tomorrow. But as for my car, she's not in a good way. I get to see her once more on Monday before they assess and write her off. Man, the amount of time and effort that went into builder her......

The events, the fun, the enjoyment, it's like loosing a trustworthy old friend. Rest in Peace girl.

Just some pics to remember you with.

damn man - atleast u alright

Once they assess it, and once you know how much insurance will give you - you can look for your new mistress - but by the looks of things, working so hard to get your car right....it will take more than just another car to fill the void...

THanks guys. Time will tell what happens next. The guy was insured who ran into me, and he was at fault, as I was stopped. Felt sorry for him, he had just changed jobs and had close to 50 mins to get to work.

damn man that sucks.... hope u dont have too many probs with ur back/neck. maybe get urself checked out by a doc or physio. u dont wanna end up with my back probs

cars are replacable. just as long as ur alright!

Sorry to hear man!

Good to see that you understand the other blokes situation, any of us can have accidents.

I once tapped and scraped a motorbikes muffler when i was driving my starion about 5 years ago and the biker was good enough to say dont worry about it mate I shouldnt have stopped when I did.

West & Interloper: they can hit the brakes in the middle of the freeway at 100k/hr for no reason and if you run into them it's still your fault. Rear ending is always the fault of the driver behind because you're supposed to be watching for brakelights blah blah and if you don't have enough time to stop then supposedly you didn't leave enough room.

Which is why I really cant understand why so many ppl tailgate in VIC??

Personally I can't even see the car that's 2 ahead in the 180 caus its so low... if there's a late braking dick in front of me and he slams on the brakes I'll be in trouble.. so I always leave so much room in front of me people think it's an invitation.

Anyway so sorry to hear about that Scott.. there was so much work/love in that car.. hopefully you'll get a decent payout at least.

I totally have neck empathy after straining mine this week.. been 5 days of pain so far. I hope you are going to see a physio.. you don't want more problems later on and if you do have any.. at least you will be covered by insurance caus you saw a doc after the accident.

Take it easy

So says the O mighty son of rajab.......make sure you leave enough stopping distance...don't tail gate.

I have seen many cars go into the grass divide on western -ring road ...stupid tail-gaters.

At least you could stop.......and you are telling the story. :(:) .In this case....I would suggest a transplant .

Get a Laser and bolt up your motor into it...does it fit? What cars can you bolt that motor into anyway?

Nahhhh...buy it back offf the insurance company , then get it fixed.Looks too goodto through out.

judging from the pics of the damage the guy wasn't paying attention to what was happening infront and hit the brakes at the last second. i had a similar thing happen to me a little while ago.

sorry about the car, it's a nice looking little beasty.

hey you never know, might get lucky and the damage will be repairable...

Aw Man! The TX5 passing is a sad day. The Giant Killer was cool, as it was different and it always had cool custom tweaks in the works.

...SUX, but i hated mt R31 GTSX being written off, but really the move to the R32 was for the best...so every cloud has silver lining. SR20 coming your way?

    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
