I'm at nearly 400ks for this current tank and it's getting damn close to fuel light time. I reckon I'll just nick 400 when it comes on. I would expect better for the driving I do (works out to be around 15l/100ks).

Mostly suburb driving. Still haven't figured out what my crappy miss is. Starting to lean towards coil packs. Might try gapping my plugs down and see if that helps a bit.

there is a procedure to get the stock ecu to flash it out

or buy a new one

check your pcv grommet, mine was cactus and made it idle a little off

I've got a PFC.

Haven't checked the PCV yet.

Back from out little Cobram camping trip yesterday...

Filled up with 74.52L. Trip said I had covered 964kms.

12.9km/L or roughly 7.8L/100 :)

Downside was that there is a section of my current map that dumps fuel like no other (can see the economy drop 5-6km/L on the leaf almost instantly) and causes a "Bank 1 too rich" (0172) CEL. Just pull over and clear it. Doesn't pop up again unless I forget where it is (throttle pedal position at certain speeds).

Didn't show up at all yesterday :D

That's bloody good economy Cam!

Has yours been on a dyno yet, or are you just running a "Guesstimate" tune atm?

Be very careful Cam... your economy is better than my car and I know I am running lean.

Yes. It was an a dyno for a tune, but had a clogged fuel filter (prob the one from factory as I'd never changed mine).

Massively lean above 4500rpm but below that the AFR's were "good", so it was only tuned below 4500rpm

Filter changed last week and my normal economy of 9.7km/L dropped to 9.3km/L (same driving) and was much more difficult to keep high.

Seems very lean Cam, want to borrow my spare wideband?

Yes, will need to work out a time to come over methinks.

So I hear :)

170k's to half tank. BP98 :(

Half a tank might not be half a tank. Run it to the fuel light and then see how much it takes to fill and calculate from there.

I'm just managing to squeeze 200 ks out of 30 lts of premium just city driving , this seems like it could b better , only had the car for a short while ( 250 t rs four ) aero pack , really enjoying the ride but would like some better economy , can you make any adjustments on the trip comp to the leaness or do you advise a run on the dyno , it's due for a service in a couple of months what should they be doing to improve economy

You cant tune without some method of adjusting the timing and injector pulses, like an emanage or Fcon. Even then you will find on cruise there is little improvement in economy as the stock ecu does a very good job of it anyway. It has to, to pass the emissions test.

As far as making it all run as sweet as you can, change the o2 sensor in the exhaust, get your injectors cleaned and flow tested and run a good quality oil and all should be well.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
